Speaking of Penn State scandal, This American Life has a podcast about that this week. Will be listening to that today. Expecting it to be a good one, as always.

OT, but This American Life is the best podcast there is. Really engaging and informative. My wife & I love to listen to it when on drives to visit family out of town. Makes an hour fly by.

Increase NPR's budget if it means more content like TAL

Yeah I always listen to it on roadtrips as well. I'm about 5 minutes into the Penn State episode and it's good, as expected. It's definitely the best podcast out there.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone call A&M/UT the "Lone Star Showdown".

I didn't even know it had an official marketing name

Don't call it that. Its a stupid fucking trophy that no one pays attention to. Its not even just for football, its all sports we play against A&M.

I think it's the same episode they played a couple years ago but added a quick thing about the scandal into it.

Is there a possibility that Arkansas beats LSU, Alabama beats Auburn, then Arkansas loses in the SEC Championship to Georgia and LSU and Alabama play in the BCS Championship?

That would be the most comical of all outcomes.

I was talking about that with some co-workers. Or, LSU beats Arkansas, but loses to Georgia, but still goes to the championship against Alabama. So the MNC is between a team that lost the SEC Championship, and a team that didn't even make the championship.

What if Houston played Boise State for the MNC?

Would it be a legit national championship?

Please list three arguments for, or, against this scenario.

I do not want to see you present your work in comic sans font. That's an automatic failure.

Improbable.
LSU would only have to fall down 1 spot to #2, pushing Alabama to #3. It's the only way Arky wins the 3 way tie breaker.

Voters would have to ignore Alabama beating Arky by 24 points, to move them down.

Who knew a 3 point OT loss to the #1 team is an unforgivable sin.

Not really because even if Arkansas beats LSU and jumps Bama they would most likely be 1 and 2 and Bama would go to the SEC championship game. So we do have the possibility of the #1 team in the country not playing in their own conference championship game and depending on what happens could get to a situation where LSU and Arkansas play again in the BCS and neither team won their division.

All other trophies bow before the Land Grant Trophy

If Penn State wins this weekend, then we will be playing for the only trophy less tasteful than if Paterno's name had been left on the championship trophy

Having football fans sit through that game was what was so unforgivable.

Ahhh gotta love Michigan week. Big mirror lake jump tomorrow night, going to head down take videos and pics to post and might jump in myself.

Also love that all the Ms on signs and buildings all over campus are covered up.

To Hell With Georgia!

What's the good word? (Piss on em)

And with that being said, Georgia, please win the SEC so that the National Championship could be between two teams who didn't win their conference, and the SEC would get 3 teams in the BCS thus breaking it further. I want mayhem. MAYHEM!

Impirius, it is time!

This is going to be like when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object, except the complete opposite. What happens when a really terrible offense meets a really terrible defense. Except also we'll probably still be missing half our offensive line so Clowney will feast on Boyd's blind side.

Congrats on three in a row!
DAY OF RECKONING DAY 2011

Yeah, I think this game hinges on Clowney and Ingram's ability to wreck shit in the backfield before the Boyd-Watkins Doomsday Device can be activated. Maybe we'll catch you looking ahead to UVA in the ACC Championship Game
ahahaha

Jimbo's epic fuck up this weekend has really dampened my spirits about the game this week and the team in general under his leadership. I still feel like we'll beat UF but even if we do, we can't get to 10 wins this year which blows and now I probably won't get to see us play the bowl game in Orlando even though I extended my trip an extra day just in case.

Sigh.

The only thing that has sustained me is the fact that all of the Florida teams are down in the dumps this season. Either not bowling or going to your local toilet bowl.

If Indiana and Purdue can get a mention in the OP, how about a mention for Clean, Old Fashioned Hate this week?

The record is UGA/GT 61-39-5. We don't have a dumb trophy, we just hate each other. In honor of Larry Munson passing away last night, here's a good call of his against Georgia Tech from 1978. My favorite call of his is his "Look at the sugar falling out of the sky!" one.

To hell with Georgia Tech!
I had bought tickets in August for last year's game in Athens. It had two dispirited teams (6-6 vs 5-6), a cold, cold wind blowing in my face, and a game marked by turnovers and ineptness. AJ Green was trying to avoid being hurt more than anything else and ran at half speed. It was truly a low point in the series.

One of my high school English teachers is a Michigan State alum.

Nah. People know.
People in education know, sure. I'm pretty sure he wasn't pigeon-holing his commentary to educators. lol

I feel like outside the Midwest, people think Michigan even when I say Michigan State.

well yea. that's because nobody outside of the Midwest gives a fuck about Michigan State. with respect, of course.

Down here in Florida, people know who Michigan is and they only see one program associated with the state. Their care simply stops there. Unfortunate, but that's just how it is. Just a perception and brand created over decades of time. That may change, but not anytime soon. A couple of MSU National Championships would certainly go a long way towards that goal...but I don't know if that's ever even a serious goal or expectation of the program. idk. How's recruiting going for next year? Who's replacing the QB?

Well shame that what stands between us and a B1G championship game is Wisconsin. So what bowl are we looking at when we lose?

The over-under for Baylor-Texas Tech is...

wait for it...

One hundred and two points.

But what's the over/under for RG3?

I'm going to predict he throws for 6 TD's.

Well shame that what stands between us and a B1G championship game is Wisconsin. So what bowl are we looking at when we lose?
I'd guess the Capitol One Bowl? Or the Gator Bowl. Whichever goes to the B1G #3/#4. If I had to wager on it, the B1G bowl appearances will end up ordered as:

1. Wisconsin
2. Michigan
3. Michigan State
4. Penn State

...and whoever else after. But anything can happen. MSU could win the B1G Championship over Wiscy. Or hell, Wisconsin may lose to PSU and not even make the Championship Game at all. But if I had to put money on it, I'd expect Wisconsin to beat MSU in the B1G and Michigan to win their last game leaving the order like that.

But what's the over/under for RG3?

I'm going to predict he throws for 6 TD's.
Wouldn't surprise me.

If we beat OU and he ends up getting first-team Big 12 QB over Weeden, I'm gonna be pissed.

OSU's defense shut him the fuck down.

Let me repeat that.

OSU's defense shut RG3 the fuck down.

Jimbo = Ron Zook. Great recruiter, terrible HC.

Add to the fact EJ is just an average QB who is playing hurt. At least the D is on the right track.
