Breaking down would have been fine. Expected really.

He's been arrogant the entire time and this was just another step down that road. Now this twitter thing has sunk him IMO. The producers will make sure of it.

what twitter thing? :O

Wow at Astro. What an arrogant little piss-ant. He just doomed himself. I don't think I've ever seen anyone get booed like that on any of these talent shows.

btw worst performance of the week still goes to the host. I'm surprised not a single judge has told him to shut the fuck up every time the douchebag hurries them up.

Astro's top 11 performance video has 600k views, that's double everyone but Rachel Crowe who he was beating by 50k.

Astro's top 10 performance wasn't uploaded by XFactor for 12 hours after everyone else's. (can't see number of views as youtube is stuck on that non-refreshed 300ish views bug)

For top 12, his video is second in views. For top 17, his video has 1300k views, like 4x everyone but Melanie who he just doubled up.

I call foul.

Found it:

"Politics!! don't be fooled by what you don't know! Thank you AstroNauts for holding me down! Its funny how people are quick to judge not knowing whats going on behind the scenes. Maybe I should have given my Disney smile instead!"

I hope you're not suggesting that something behind the scenes on this show might not be entirely legitimate.

That's exactly what I'm suggesting. I think it was a case of protecting Lakoda Rayne / Paula and X Factor putting the most popular contestant to ensure the lowest votes would be knocked out, and Astro freaking out about it.

Especially watch his complete 180 before and after commercial break. He thought he was legitimately voted off and I think someone filled him in right before performance. That's my guess. Either way, something is off.

It's not a Drew Doughty ( EDIT - lol I mean Chris Daughty ) situation this early in the competition.

Are maybe he filled his own head with thoughts during commercial break. He had an attitude before this.

So if it was all a set up why were tears going down his cheeks at the end? I still think he's just a 14 year old brat trying to cover for his self since he realized he made a mistake.

Latest tweet.

I'm sorry you feel that way but I will never be silent when I believe I have been done an injustice. Heart on my sleeve!

and he had retweeted this, so no matter the case, he believes it.

pretty sure @AstronomicalKid was put in the bottom 2 purely for ratings..he has 63000 followers.theres no way they didnt vote #weknowitstrue

So reading through his tweets.. he is not blaming the people or fans.. But he is blaming the producers/production I think..

He is claiming that they don't want him around. I somehow doubt it but whatever..

There are a lot of things about the show that aren't legitimate (i.e. everything about the judges and contestants motivations, personalities, etc.), but I'm not going to buy into the fact that the voting is rigged; you can go to prison for that.

A lawyer could throw that case out so easy. It only has to do with a prize in a game/quiz show and technically they aren't winning a prize, they are awarded a contract where they work for the $5 million

You're suggesting they risked prison time and completely destroying the genre entirely when there's very little to gain. People already turned on the show; I've said it before, there's nothing to gain by fixing a popularity contest because it's already a popularity contest.

Astro's re-tweeting that nonsense? He's indirectly accusing the producers of voter fraud. What an idiot

Gain: Drama->Ratings, Keeping groups alive->Keeps Paul in it->More to televise->Ratings (I believe Lakoda Rayne was actually last)

He's fucked himself now. They'll bury him for suggesting that the competition is faked. And rightfully so.

He's so fucked in the head that it's all "politics, man. Swag."

I mean besides getting the studio audience that loves everything to boo him on camera. Haha

Didn't X Factor UK do a double elimination recently?

XF US should take some pointers right about now.
Girl, are you psychic? BREAKING NEWS

More delicious tears, mah precious

Haha! Bye Astro!

And I'm going to have to agree that I don't think the voting is rigged. There are too many other tricks the producers can play if they want to make a contestant a favorite. Producers only care about money and ratings, if a contestant is popular and pulling in ratings and votes I'd think they last thing they'd want to do is artificially oust them from the show.

Glad Astro was in the bottom 2 he has been way too cocky and the judges never giving him any criticism didn't help matters, even though Stacy has been bad the past couple of weeks I've liked her more than that cocky kid they should have sent him home just for that.

Maybe he'll be gone next week probably along with LA ROY no it's LEEROY(leroy) isn't it?

This is just a conspiracy theory.

Stacy waited until she got on Twitter to have her meltdown...

"Stacy-It happened because you stopped loving me like the first time I sang for you... @SimonCowell .. thank u for everything. Bye."

“I feel like I had a disadvantage by not being in his [Simon's] category. I believe that somebody in his category will win.”

“[Simon] beat up everyone in the competition last night except his category.”

"My demise was set up last night when he [Simon] called me a cabaret singer.”

She also digs at Astro a bit...

“I’m very confused by Astro’s behavior because I think in that moment you should be pleading for your life and not throwing it away.”

“I don’t understand his behavior…I mean, he’s 14. We can call him a teenager and give him an excuse, but bad behavior is bad behavior. I think that he was ungracious in that moment and I think that in the real scheme of things, no matter what, you have to be grateful.”

“The thing to be disappointed about is when you see someone like Astro have such an obnoxious attitude about it is that he gets to stay. That’s kind of a hard pill to swallow because he doesn’t seem grateful to be here.”

Astro posted an apology on his FB page:

What I do, I do for the love of Hip-Hop and my fans, and I would never doing anything to hurt either. But please try to understand where my head was last night. Muhammed Ali was hated by America when he didn't enter the draft. What people didn't know was that he would have entered if the recruiter would have addressed him by his new name. I believed I was being mistreated, and in the moment I thought about Ali's moment. I want to be the new ambassador for Hip-Hop and a leader of a new young movement of positive kids, but to be that I must have Integrity and Honor first! People are saying I'm "cocky" and "arrogant", well maybe I have watched too many Muhammed Ali films or maybe I grew up having to fight my way home everyday or battle on street corners of Brooklyn for respect. My guards are always up, and maybe I took the situation too heavy. I seriously apologize to my fans, what I said and my emotions weren't directed toward you. I'm 15 and I think I know everything, but the truth is, I don't, and I handled the situation wrong! Win or lose next week, I will make you all proud!

lol man I love X Factor DRAMA

So goood So much better then Idol where they almost muzzle them it seems.

Also X Factor UK singers are so fricken good. They paired down to their final 5 or something and it really made their good singers stand out.

Can't wait until we get to that moment in the US because I think some of the acts here in the US will get really good after experiencing and learning new things with their coaches/professionals that work with them.

Just caught up with this, as much as I want a meteorite to come down and crush that little bastard astro, I was so happy to see Stacy get the boot, what an annoying demanding diva bitch. Also a giant LOL at astro claiming hes had to fight and get respect on the corner and all the bullshit, I wonder how hard he worked for that iPad he had in one of his home videos, fuck right off. Also Simon was spitting truth, thank you Simon once again for handing out the real talk.

Wow, if the producers didn't like Astro before, I'm sure him tweeting these comments is pleasing no one. I expect him gone in the double eliminations this week.

Is it possible the kid has a point though? After reading this thread I did a little research and Astro is #1 when it comes to contestants with the most twitter followers. He has more than 3x the followers Lakoda Rayne or LeRoy Bell do, for example. Followers =/= voters but you'd expect a correlation. My write up is HERE (with a credit/thanks to gaf!). I expect the kid is a brat and has an inflated ego, but calling out the producers isn't smart either way.

Anyway, I'm still expecting Drew to win as she's got such a great / unique voice. Unfortunately she's started to be boring and wants to be this folk singer. I'm glad the judges called her out on that as I'd like to see what else she can do.

Nice write-up/summary! I have to admit that the Twitter data is making this all pretty weird, plus Astro's comments seemed to indicate that he was pissed at the show/producers, not the voters. But the show is doing well for its first season and I can't imagine that they'd risk so much just to improve the already satisfactory ratings.

Next week's results show (especially with the double elimination) is going to be very interesting, for sure...

I think it's possible that 1) Astro has a ton of twitter followers because people like to watch a train wreck while it's happening and 2) he didn't get votes this week because IT WAS ROCK WEEK AND ALL HE CAN DO IS RAP.

I don't know if there are other themes coming up, but Astro is a one-trick pony, and his trick isn't as popular as someone like Scotty McCreery singing country every week.

Astro comparing himself to Ali? Fucking hilarious.

He has to be gone next week with the double elimination, unless the scare last week energizes his fan base.

Maybe I'm just at a loss to understand why he's even considered among the more commercial acts. As others have pointed out he has talent but no authenticity at all, hip-hop is an art form built on hard life experience, WTF does this kid know? This kid should be busting out his version of Parents Just Don't Understand, not the shit he's trying to peddle.

So what's commercial about him? It's not like teen rap is a huge genre, Kriss Kross were big in the 80s and since then we've had only a very small handful of acts. Who's going to buy his records? I guess we should never underestimate the power of the pre-teen market.

Thanks. Yeah I hope next year they start the series with more contestants and more double eliminations from the start. Then later on they can switch it so singles. I just think people like the rugby hottie Catilyn (someone just pictured her above) would have had a much better chance with audience voting than the lame groups (I'd be shocked if that category remains as is next year).

The kind of people that vote are probably not the kind of people that have twitter. You have to realize people like your mom are the people who vote on this show.

That's true too. A rapper on a singing show, it's easy for me to imagine not getting votes. I don't think there's anything shady going on behind the scenes, but I was surprised that at least according to twitter (which the show promotes heavily) he's actually the most popular one.

I don't get all the people saying Astro is talented. The first few performances were alright but I just realize now all his shitty lyrics that are so amazingly written by himself are just the same crap lines week after week.

"yo I'm still on top, I aint never gonna flop (shout out to Eli), swag swag swag Astro hip hop's greatest, 5 million contract I'm gonna take it" blah blah blah

little kid rap is a gimmick too, nobody really wants to listen to that shit outside of the competition. forreal who would buy this minipop rap kids album? lame as hell. We've evolved to allow dorks and other races into hip hop but it's gonna be a long time before I listen to some 10 year old.

Astro is done mincing words. He finally accuses the show of outright cheating
lol.gif

From an interview with the Hollywood Reporter:

“Not to sound cocky, but I don’t see how you can have the most followers on Twitter of all the contestants, most views on YouTube of all the contestants, and be voted in the bottom two. So, I knew something was fishy… That’s why I spazzed out.”

“It was kind of aggravating on my part, because basically something that happened behind the scenes,” he says. “I felt like I was being treated unfairly, basically that was X Factor’s way of punishing me. I don’t care to talk about what happened, but I doubt I was in the bottom two

Muhammad Ali, everyone.

Say what you will about Astro, but the dude has a star's personality. He's just too young right now and it just comes off as immature instead of hardened and jaded.

Straight up Kanye levels of crazy going on in this kid which should do wonders for his career (in a good way) if he actually hasn't hurt his chances at legitimacy through this show.

Shame, because I think he's the best one they've got on there, but as I've said before...the dude just isn't going to have an audience in the real world when it comes time to put money down for an album at this point in his life.

Astro is a moron.

Is X Factor on tonight due to the Thanksgiving break?

I hope so!
