I don't mind what's in the books. Only real problem I had was the littlefinger whorehouse scene. Not only was it not in the books, but it was like 5+ min and while the background info was important, there is way better ways tell a story than have two chicks doing it and just talking over their moans.

yeah, that was the only "sexposition" scene that bothered me in the series.

Brienne?

Ahhh nvm, pointed out earlier

He actually looks like he could be Robert's brother now.

That kind of sucks that they are basically dismissing the "sexposition" complaint.

The only problem I had was with the Littlefinger and lesbians scene.. it went on way too long. I wonder if anybody who hasn't read the books even knew or paid attention to wtf he was talking about during the whole thing. lol.

I don't even know what they were talking about in that scene. I was like "who what now?"

Agreed.

I did. Hadn't read the books at the time. Yes, it was important info, just like the Theon is a Pathetic Jerk and the Pycelle isn't a Frail Old Man scenes, but the Littlefinger is a Snake scene could totally have been done without Roz's twins onscreen every second.

Like someone else said, if I wanted to watch poorly justified nudity and fake moaning, I'd watch some porn. As it is, there are people I'd totally recommend the series to were it not for the fact that they wouldn't see past the nudity.

This is my issue. My dad couldn't make it past the scene with Viserys rubbing Dany's nipple in the first episode. It's a shame, because I know he'd love a PG-13 version of this series.

Oh god. I could never watch that with my dad. Talk about awkward moments.

The sex scene stuff is stupid and really brings down the show IMO. Reminds me of the Gel scenes from Star Trek Enterprise.

I did laugh at how much they like doggy style though. And the scenes with Tyrion were appropriate and funny.

DAY 1 DEAR MOTHER OF GOD.

edit: also, i bought the Rome complete series bluray box yesterday, i kinda missed the whole thing when it was on tv back then and i feel i've missed a lot, so i'm trying to fix that mistake.

Have i done good? i'm trying to fill the game of thrones void, at least for a while.

Yes, yes you did. Once it gets going, the first season of Rome is my favorite season of any show ever. The second season is great too, but suffers from having to rush it at the end (lousy BBC). Great series.

Glad HBO is getting Game of Thrones out timely and not pulling a Boardwalk Empire.

Same issue here sort of.
Huge fan of the books, but have not yet been able to watch the show because it honestly just goes over the top with it.
Yes it is in the books, but the show really seems to enjoy pushing it.
My gf did not make it through the first show, yet we can sit through True Blood and other shows with no problem.

Not a prude in the least I assure you, but it really could have been handled better.
Every time you watch one of the sex scenes just make sure you remember that George is watching :)

I don't remember anything being over the top sex wise. Hell I think the books were more graphic in detail.

Argh. I want the blu-ray set (and will get it eventually), but it is going to be ridiculously expensive for ages.

And to the person looking at picking up Rome...do so only if you can enjoy a series that doesn't have a proper ending (it was canned) ala Deadwood. I really hope they finish this one. Will be so pissed if it gets canned.

The end of Rome was absolutely nothing like Deadwood.

Yea, the sex screens are largely atrocious, to the point I'm dreading my parent's reaction once they see it. They loved Spartacus which shocked me, but GoT's sex scenes are more ridiculous.

You guys think they'll include the mad king scenes which were mentioned a while ago in the thread? I'm talking about the scene where he kills Ned's brother and father.

I meant as in the series was cancelled. Obviously they are different shows. ;)

Rome's 2nd season is a bit rushed and there are many time skips in order to show the "good" parts, but the ending is pretty good considering the situation, and quite conclusive I might add.

GRRM commentary will be awesome. actually any cast member will be cool, hoping for sansa.

it's coming before christmas right?

edit: oh damn not for a while. i usually never rewatch tv shows, but this show. the best.

I'd be so hyped with two more seasons after this one comin up next year...

Shit, I always thought it was funny when people were saying the show might pass up grrm's slow writing of the books, but if they do a season a year like they have been, GRRm is fucked lol

Id be hyped if they did film 3 and 4 back to back..... then at the lasts second decided to air all 20 fucking episodes as season 3 instead. Sooooooo good.

the lesbian scene w/ the 2 whores was definitely over the top. so raunchy..

That was about the only one I couldnt stand though. I got through the rest of the series just fine. There was a ton of sex no doubt, but only that one scene just made me throw my hands up in the air.

There's no other way they could do it. But some ACOK material will probably be pushed into season 3 and some AFFC stuff will be in season 4.

Yeah some of the stuff will need to be switched around. They didn't show all of the Bran story from season 1 so maybe they could add that to season 2 and shift some season 2 material into season 3. It would be better if it was 12 episodes for season 2 and 18 episodes for season 3 but it can't work like that.

My guess is that half of Bran and Theon's stuff from CoK gets moved back to S3 and the Ironborn stuff from Feast gets moved up to Season 4. If it would have made sense chronologically, the Dorne stuff woulda been ideal to move up too in S4. But you cant realistically do the Dorne stuff until
The Mountain and Red Viper
duel happens.

Sounds good to me.

On another note, I just finished AFFC last night, and ordered ADWD today. Although AFFC was very slow for most of the book, the last couple of hundred pages were pretty good.

Season 3/Book 3 speculation

When do they cut the third season? The red wedding is like 2/3 through the book if I recall correctly and that would be the most badass cliffhanger ever, but at the same time, I'm curious if people would be pissed and not come back the following year.

The UK edition is already spilt. It finishes with Jon leaving the Wildlings to warn Castle Black.

The third season possibly being two full seasons gives me hope that the red wedding and everything in ASOS after that will all be in the forth season. The red wedding starts a roller coaster of events that concludes a lot of the plotlines from the first three books. It would be ideal for all of those to be in the same season in my opinion.

I would divide the third book in two different parts:

The first one will end with
Joffrey's poisoning

The second one would end with
"nope, he did not shat gold".

the
red wedding
is going to be the most hilarious television reaction of all time. This Ned shit is going to be like pie compared to that.
