College Football Week 13: Rivalry Week! (fucla!)

Man, how good does the Stoops firing/RichRod hiring look for Zona now that we're starting to see how many programs will be looking for new coaches this offseason? In the Pac-12 alone, a third of the schools will be on the prowl.

Urbs to OSU, too. The two hires so far have basically been home runs. Makes it that much tougher for everyone else, though.

I'm starting to think that either Texas Tech or Craig James has dirt on the AD of every major university that has had a coaching vacancy in the past two years. Leach's continued unemployment as a D-1 coach is otherwise inexplicable.

Bob Stoops has never fired an assistant, but his defense has also never looked as good as it did when he had Mike. And it has never looked as bad as it did versus Baylor and TTU

It would be really nice if Venables found a job somewhere else, like Chuck Long did with SDSU a few years back

To make up a .04 BCS gap, you would need to go up by .12 in the computers if the humans stayed the same. Not really possible with so few games left. If anything the gap in the humans will widen. Look at how many votes separate Michigan from the 3 loss teams.

Would you expect Baylor to not gain votes from the pollsters? Baylor is behind TCU in both polls and they'll get the benefit of that clump of Big 10 teams not playing. I suppose it's not a given and it's going to be very close, but with gaining in both polls, they've got a good shot at moving up.

I guess I'd give Michigan a better than 50/50 shot at making it, but it's not a given.

I just realized that if UCLA pulls the upset, they're going to to Rose Bowl. I know it won't happen, but goddamn that has to be scary for the Rose Bowl organizers. Not that I care about them.

ASU and WSU would be pretty awesome places for Leach. Neither is a big media market where Leach will be scrutinized.

Of course Sun Devil fans seem to want Kevin Sumlin more.

Wazzu should totally nab him if they can. He's ideal for them--a good, proven coach who has limited options, who they won't have to mortgage the stadium for, and who should make a decent recruiting splash.

Computers won't really change because of how few games there are so Baylor has no shot of jumping Michigan. Big 10 has too much of an influence, they almost always get 2 teams

Michigan's odds are directly related to the odds of K State, Oklahoma and Georgia all winning which happens less 5% of the time based on the current lines, so 95+% for them making it.

Leach probably has unpaid parking tickets in Tempe and forgot to return a book he borrowed from a Pullman library back in 1996. Something.

The problem with Leach is he'll view whoever hires him as a stepping stone to something better. That is what pissed off the leadership at TTU. He was always trying to move up in the world, and they just got sick of him. Obviously they were morons for getting in bed with Craig James' and his goofy son, but I can see the point of not wanting someone who doesn't want to be there

Delayed due to wedding/honeymoon, here are the results for Week 12. I'm currently working on Week 13's, so those will be up when the new thread is posted.

High Score: 17 by Schmitty
Most Picks: 10 by Schmitty, Jay Sosa, cashman

Cool dudes that correctly picked USC to beat Oregon: Cyan, Altered Beast, JCX, mre, Jay Sosa, NihonTiger90

If someone in the pac12 south picks up Leach, there might be some real competition year in and year out in the PAC 12.
