(in my wet dreams anyhow)

And my weekly BCS Top 10 analysis:

BCS Top 10 said:
ooc.gif

10. Oklahoma
Best Win(s): #11 K-State, #22 Texas
Remaining: #4 Oklahoma State
Loss(es): Texas Tech, #17 Baylor
Thoughts: A win this weekend over rival Oklahoma State would put them in a BCS Bowl, just not the one they planned at the start of the year.

ooe.gif

9. Oregon
Best Win(s): #4 Stanford
Remaining: Pac 12 CCG vs fucla (6-6)
Loss(es): #1 LSU, "#9" USC
Thoughts: Barring the most epic upset in some time, Oregon will be playing in the Rose Bowl for the second time in 3 years.

aan_4.gif

8. Arkansas
Best Win(s): #12 South Carolina, Auburn
Remaining: N/A
Loss: #1 LSU, #2 Alabama
Thoughts: They still might get the Sugar Bowl, assuming LSU and Alabama go to the MNC. Or they could end up in the Capital One Bowl!

bbe.gif

7. Boise State
Best Win(s): #14 Georgia
Remaining: New Mexico 1-10
Loss: #20 TCU
Thoughts: If it wasn't for that TCU game, they might actually be getting a shot at losing to LSU! Now they might be on the outside looking in for a BCS Bowl.

hhe.gif

6. Houston
Best Win(s): ucla, SMU, Tulsa
Remaining: CUSA Championship game (vs 10-2 Southern Miss)
Thoughts: Assuming the football gods don't decide to get revenge on Keenum this weekend they're likely going to a BCS Bowl where they will be handed the Hawaii Memorial Trophy.

vvd.gif

5. Virginia Tech
Best Win(s): Georgia Tech
Remaining: ACC Championship game
Loss: #20 Clemson
Thoughts: Clemson destroyed them earlier this season, have they improved enough since then to win the ACC title? If so they'll likely face the Big East winner in the Orange Bowl.

sss3.gif

4. Stanford
Best Win(s): "#9" USC
Remaining: N/A
Loss: #4 Oregon
Thoughts: Stanford is probably really glad to be back to #4, if only because it lowers the probability of them being passed over for a team that actually has more than 5 fans.

ood.gif

3. Ok St
Best Win(s): #11 K-State, #25 Texas, #18 Baylor
Remaining: #9 Oklahoma
Loss: Iowa State (6-4)
Thoughts: They need to avoid a disappointment versus their rivals and some magic to possibly sneak back into the BCS MNC game.

aad_3.gif

2. Alabama
Best Win(s): #3 Arkansas, #21 Penn State
Remaining: N/A
Loss: #1 LSU
Thoughts: The Crimson Tide gets to sit at home and become one of the most hated teams in the country as they back their way into the BCS MNC game. Perhaps they can use the off week to figure out why they scored less points on LSU than Western Kentucky.

lli_2.gif

1. LSU
Best Win(s): #10 Oregon, #2 Alabama, #8 Arkansas
Remaining: SEC Championship Game vs #14 Georgia
Thoughts: Unless Georgia somehow humiliates LSU in the SEC title game, they're going to play for the MNC.

Obligatory Big East & B1G Mention: Michigan State and Wisconsin face off for the right to beat Oregon in the Rose Bowl. Michigan has an outside shot of stealing a BCS spot from someone. I think if the Bearcats beat UConn they take the Big East. If they lose then 5 Loss Louisville will play in a BCS Bowl game.

If the Season Ended Today Bowl Picture:

MNC: LSU vs Alabama
Rose Bowl: Oregon vs Michigan State/Wisconsin
Orange Bowl: Virginia Tech vs Lousiville/Cincinnati
Sugar Bowl: Arkansas vs Houston (2011 Hawaii Memorial Bowl)
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma St vs Stanford
(All predictions wrong or your money back!)

Perhaps they can use the off week to figure out why they scored less points on LSU than Western Kentucky.
We've already discussed this. It's because LSU's defense only bothered to actually try hard against Bama. And vice versa. SECSECSEC

MORE STUFFS TO KNOW!!

We've already discussed this. It's because LSU's defense only bothered to actually try hard against Bama. And vice versa. SECSECSEC

Then they can invest in a new kicker instead.

The problem with Leach is he'll view whoever hires him as a stepping stone to something better. That is what pissed off the leadership at TTU. He was always trying to move up in the world, and they just got sick of him. Obviously they were morons for getting in bed with Craig James' and his goofy son, but I can see the point of not wanting someone who doesn't want to be there

I'm pretty sure Wazzu would be okay with this.

While a lazy statement, is by far not the worst.

Arkansas cannot go to a BCS bowl game. Only the possibility of LSU/Alabama and UGA (winning in Atlanta) will work.

SOMETHING SOMETHING YOUTH INJURY NAZIS

I had a football player in a group project I've been working on and apparently Dooley's big thing is suggesting the players need to be better Americans. "You gotta be a fucking American! You're acting like Germans but you gotta be a fucking American! BE A FUCKING AMERICAN!"

MY TEAM SUCKS BECAUSE WE'RE NOT AMERICAN ENOUGH.

Here are your Big East BCS scenarios.

Cincinnati
West Virginia loss to USF on Thursday night AND a win over UConn on Saturday.
Louisville
Cincinnati loss to UConn.
West Virginia
Win over USF AND Cincinnati win over UConn AND higher rank in BCS standings.

It's so simple!

I started out loving Dooley, but he flat out sucks ass as a coach. The Kentucky loss sealed it. There is 0 excuse for losing that game.

Unfortunately, we're stuck with him for another year. I really wish Hart would just pull the plug on him now. Yeah, we'd probably lose some recruits, but if we got a competent coach we'd be much better off.

Every year I think it's finally the one where OSU breaks through and wins the conference. But then the Sooners take their shaky defense and somehow shut down the Pokes.

Doubt that happens again this year, but it should be fun. Is there any way OSU can make a BCS game if it loses?

I just don't know anymore. I feel like he needs at least one more year, just to at least pretend there's some stability at this program. But I think everyone pretty much agrees at this point that Dooley isn't going to be the one to lead us out of the ditch we've found ourselves in. I think the department has to start searching around and if they can find a real knockout coach during the offseason and pay him enough to get him to come here I say bite the bullet and go for it. If not and the best we can do is another unproven dark horse like Kiffin or Dooley I say wait and just go into the next season knowing full well that there's a 90% chance Dooley isn't there at the end of the season which should give them more than enough time to find someone, anyone who can at least compete in the SEC. Because honestly, at this point that's probably the best we can look for and unfortunately that's good enough for now.

It's such a delicate situation to handle though. How do you go about searching for a new head coach when the one you've already got will probably still be around for the next season?

I think 7-8 wins is the max Dooley will ever get in a season at Tennessee. I hate it for him, and I hate to go through this as a fan, but I think there's a very strong argument for firing him now if we can get a proven coach.

But I do agree that it needs to be a home run hire. If we can't get anyone decent, I'm content with riding it out for another year and seeing what he can do. We should at least be somewhat competitive in the East next year with Bray, Rogers, and Hunter all as upperclassmen.

Congratulations, Monroeski! You only missed the UT/UK game that basically everybody missed. (except Cyan, Mattdaddy, Ryan-ts and sf2fanatic).

Overall it was a great week for pretty much everyone. As always, let me know if I missed anybody's.

This is the final week for the Pick'em for this year -- as before, the postseason happens on Yahoo! with the group bluemax set up. Thanks to everyone for letting me run this again this year :) And thanks to bluemax for helping out while I was gone.

As a parting gift, there is one less game to pick this week, so everyone gets 1 free point (also, the other possible games were terrible).

I want the NC to be LSU vs Bama because I think it would piss the other conferences enough for us to at least get a +1 game. I'd be against it normally.

Glorious late season collapse I had here. God dammit.

Hell yeah!

nah, thank you and bluemax.

OK, after the stunning weekend for me in football, Colorado winning on the road and Tebowing, I caught up on all the press stories about the Colorado-Utah game.

Utah papers made it out to be way more than I thought it was in the rivalry renewed area.

Its nice that they picked up the old Rumble in the Rockies name, but, I dunno if one game a renewed rivalry makes. I guess its just getting used to it.

My picks will likely keep Michigan out of the BCS so lets hope I'm wrong for the most part.

Every year I think it's finally the one where OSU breaks through and wins the conference. But then the Sooners take their shaky defense and somehow shut down the Pokes.

Doubt that happens again this year, but it should be fun. Is there any way OSU can make a BCS game if it loses?

It's possible, but we would probably need Houston to lose and Michigan to not qualify for a BCS game... And even then it's not a sure thing.

The Bedlam stakes are actually pretty high this year: winner gets a BCS bid and the loser might end up in the Insight Bowl.
...

In other news:

FUCK OU.

I wonder if we could've gotten him if Ohio St. didn't have the vacancy.

Should be interesting if he ever gets them to a BCS Championship against an SEC team.

I don't think Urbs wanted back in the SEC.

I would like to see a Bowden coach Tennessee

Worst kept secret ever official now. Urban Meyer to OSU per ESPN.

I think Urban will be out of Columbus in about 5 years. He's never really won with his own players excepting Tebow and that's not happening again. I see him bailing after then pressure of losing to Michigan gets to him.

I don't think any job could be more high pressure than Tennessee right now, given the expectations of the money men there.

True. All Urbs has to do really is beat Michigan every year.

SEC is more of a dogfight every weekend. B1G has patsies.

Vandy beat Wake Forest so we're going to a bowl game....maybe! (I fucking hope the Music City Bowl, not the Liberty Bowl.)

You're going bowling. The SEC has 10 bowl tie-ins but only 9 teams with 6 wins.

I didn't even mean it like that, because we have our share of shit teams. I just meant that their boosters are sick of (1) losing to Alabama and (2) not being in contention for championships. tOSU hasn't reached anywhere near the same level of desperation that Tennessee has.

You did a great job, timetokill. Thanks for putting in the work.

Looks like tOSU gets the last laugh over FLOLrida after all! How's it feel to be a stepping stone mang? U not mad r u?

Enjoy it while you can, B1G. Tressel was kind with the ass beatings he regularly dealt. Urban will not be so gentle.

That is true, IF Urban has success at OSU he will not hesitate to run up the score on anybody.

Urban is going to have to play B1G football without athletes from Florida, with a coaching staff that will pale in comparison to what he had when he won his championships. Have fun and get excited among your buckeye brethren but you might want to wait until after the sparty game before claiming your dominance.

SEC is more of a dogfight every weekend. B1G has patsies.

Teams at 7-5 or better:

SEC: 6
B1G: 6

Teams at .500 or better:

SEC: 8
B1G: 10

Just saying.

The top of the SEC is better than the top of the B1G, and the bottom of the SEC is better than the bottom of the B1G, but the middling teams are virtually interchangeable. That's why you see Northwestern taking Auburn to OT, Iowa beating LSU, we-lost-to-App St Michigan beating we-have-Tebow and Ubran Meyer Florida, etc. If the SEC is a 100, the B1G is like a 93. Same shit sans the two best teams in college football this year, which, by the way, the other SEC teams can't seem to beat either.

It's like, Florida creams tOSU and it's "lol B1G," but LSU pounds the dogshit out of "#3" Arkansas and it's "LSU is really good."

Obnoxious.

That ain't stopping anytime soon.

Fucking Meyer.That rat bastard.

Be glad.

If he had stayed, Addazio would be our non-official head coach (or actual head coach). We would be getting excellent two star recruits out of New England. We would still be playing statistics (dive play every other play). We would still have a whole bunch of transfers every season. We would still be beating FSU in players arrested.

Now, if he gets an OC who isn't a yes-man, they have a chance. Otherwise, it will be a "run over the B1G patsies, lose occasionally, get blasted by the SEC or other powerful team in a BCS bowl" program.
