The Game Informer cover totally sold me on this. It could be awesome.

My inner twelve year old may finally be satiated by a good South Park game.

Huh. I couldn't think of a less interesting game pitch.

The one thing Obsidian does well is write...and they won't be handling writing duties on this game. Brilliant.

I quit watching South Park after the first couple of seasons. I still appreaciate the world and the characters, but the novelty wore off so fast. I might be interested in the game depending on how they decide to go with it. Will definitely keep this on my radar.

Props to GI for having such a unique reveal. (I had not heard the rumours.)

holy shit. I'm not a huge fan of SP but I am all over this if they do it right.

and by doing it right I mean first of all it needs to look EXACTLY like the show. It's not like the art is taxing.

Hahahaha

Finally, a chance for the revered Obsidian script writers to really shine. I bet Avellone knows some truly thought provoking knob jokes.

I am surprised and delighted!

But, uh, from the cover it looks like they're not doing a South Park RPG, but South Park as an RPG spoof. So I don't know, I'm put off by that idea.

What next a Sonic the Hedgehog RPG created by Bioware?

.....

Oh yeah, wait...

As a South Park fan I'll look forward to it. But I'm not so sure. Love the fact that Kenny is a girl on the cover.

Hope this doesn't shelf the Wheel of Time game they where working on :( Have a feeling this will bomb and put Obsidian in the ground.

Take a look at the creativity that went into Costume Quest. Now consider the same treatment with South Park, but of course on a much larger scale.

I say its time to get excited. :)

I'm interested. Obsidian has some pretty solid gameplay design chops, and the one time in recent memory where they actually made their own technology instead of using someone else's (Dungeon Siege 3), the game was pretty polished technically - and since South Park doesn't exactly have an established video game presence, I imagine that's probably what they'll be using.

South Park hasn't been appointment television since Season 10, but Matt and Trey are still talented guys, and the town and characters are great, so... I'm curious?

I hope Trey writes original music for the game.

Wait, Double Fine is making this game!?

Yeah, I get it, but my point is that you can do a lot with an idea that might seem pretty zany on paper. Who would have thought an RPG about trick-or-treating would turn out to be excellent?

Same thing here. "South Park game" brings up memories of shitty Activision cash-ins from 10 years ago, but if you think about it there is a lot of material to farm out of the 15 seasons of South Park. And looking at that GI cover, the "wizards and warriors" thing could really be the thing that puts this game over the top.

Just imagine the conversations and crazy scenarios that will play out. Randy Marsh will no doubt be fucking perfect and have some crazy dumb ass side missions for you.

If this is a $15, couple of hours game I am there day one. If they try to blow it out into a full blown RPG it'll get old fast.

I'd rather see an Orgazmo RPG

It could work in the way Costume Quest or the Penny Arcade games did I guess. The South Park license isn't really suited for an RPG though IMO.
