I wonder if by 'inter-racial' they really mean to target specifically African Americans.
In this case, yes, as it deals specifically with someone from Africa according to the article.

I smoked the craziest weed from Harlan country once. That's all I know about that part of the state.
It's racist but it's absolutely no worse than churches that ban gay members.
These people are not exactly following the teachings of Jesus Christ if they are being racist. So I wouldn't blame religion, these people are just idiots.
Most of these people don't believe Jesus was Middle Eastern. Keep in mind the classic picture of Jesus that they think of, he's clearly Caucasian. Even if you were to walk them through the logic of it (Jesus was born in the Middle East.... so by definition he's probably Middle Eastern), I think they'd still refuse to accept it.
Racism in Kentucky? And hypocritical, too (Pssst. Moses was married to an Ethiopian woman, you numbnuts).
Yup, it's fucking amazing. Most of these people don't believe Jesus was Middle Eastern. Keep in mind the classic picture of Jesus that they think of, he's clearly Caucasian. lmao!red hens mixing with white hens?
nobody want no pink chicken!
Who cares? It's a private organization. Do you have to go? Do you think interracial couples WANT to go to this church? I make no assumption to know their personal desires but suspect it isn't the number one destination. Is it a crime to be a racist?

All I see is a matched amount of hatred.
I can understand why a Ron Paul supporter would prefer that problematic racist views not be discussed.
Also, you shouldn't use TinyPic for image hosting.

I'll discuss it all you want - but we won't get anywhere. Who cares what kind of worship, wacky as it may be, people want to engage in their own time??? With their own dollars and patronage? I don't care what you *feel* or *think* so much as what you do. If those people desire to limit their congregation to those of like mind and swim in such a pool, who are you to say nay?
It's not racist.. The excessive contrast in skin color between two people sitting right next to each other is just too distracting to the preacher at the front.. He needs to be able to concentrate.
I care. Now no one has to ask this anymore in this thread.Who cares? It's a private organization. Do you have to go? Do you think interracial couples WANT to go to this church? ...and the rest of the state continues to embarrass my city
And with this, I'm unsure if you are an embarrassment to your city or if I should go ahead and be prejudice and say your city is an embarrassment to the rest of my state. Sad to say, but I think I've encountered more judgemental, self-absorbed assholes from Louisville just on this forum than there are members of this church. Thankfully I have enough friends in Louisville to know that not all of its residents are like you.
If your goal is simply criticism, I can't complain.
Fixed, thanks. (Though what's the deal/story with TinyPic?)
The church is free to do what the hell it wants, why is this an issue?
If you go to the church and you're an interracial relationship, you obviously want to stop going there anyway after this, even if its reversed, cause holy shit racists all up in that joint.
That's all at least as far as I'm concerned. Public criticism does have the power to change people's views over time.
Images there occasionally get replaced for some reason, so you could wake up one day to find yourself with a goatse avatar.
That part about 9 people voting for makesm e feel uncomfortable. It's like there were nine incredibly racist people in there who were so sure about their ideas that they wouldn't let no other party stop them, I imagine them looking sort of like this:
![]()
Six people who were inredibly offended by the whole thing, and who probably were shouting angrily at those not voting, and then 30-something people who were a little racist but didn't want to offend the very racist nine people by voting against it. Or the other way around possibly.
It's an issue because it shows that Racism is alive and well in America in 2011.
Don't be dense.
It's racist but it's absolutely no worse than churches that ban gay members.
Refresh my memory, at what point is this violative of the commerce clause?
Because they know their church doesn't agree with them so they had to make up a reason. Why not just admit that your church is racist and stand behind your beliefs if thats what you stand for. What turds they are.
Basically, they did it because 9 people get the willies seeing it and they likely are related. The recommendation "is not intended to judge the salvation of anyone, but is intended to promote greater unity among the church body and the community we serve," the copy supplied to the Herald-Leader read.
Nothing dense about freedom of religion, speech, or respecting the right of others to have both.

hillbillies in the south?
shocking
Of course racism is alive and well in America in 2011. It likely always will be. I don't recall refuting its existence.
Or that.
As long as you're not harming anything or anyone, be as fuckin' racist as you want, I don't give a shit, that's your prerogative.
I don't respect the right of someone to be Racist, thanks.
You don't understand that the very act of being racist is a detriment to society as a whole. That the interracial couples who hear about this story are harmed by the inhumanity of it.
Racism doesn't happen in a vacuum.
It's racist but it's absolutely no worse than churches that ban gay members.
Anyone who is anti-gay marriage should also be okay with this. I guess.
They're really not. Racism is detrimental to society, but the society around these guys has progress. In other words, the church vote is not a reflection of the community vote. Interracial couples, like the ones banned from the church, will be fine. You don't understand that the very act of being racist is a detriment to society as a whole. This kind of proves that it does in the states at least. I mean looking at it on the surface, a place that has stereotypically been viewed as racist is not siding with the racist actions of a church. Sounds like progress.Racism doesn't happen in a vacuum.
It's irrational, dude. Racism implies acting upon judgements made with no regard for evidence or reason. Why not I'm just wondering?
Never mind I see. I support this to a point.

You gotta be kidding?
I'm gobsmacked when stuff like this (or segregated proms) comes up. It really does seem like some parts of the US are years behind the rest of the western world in certain aspects. It's definitely newsworthy, keep shining a light on this stuff and it might just change.

Were you gobsmacked when some UK rioters were trying to incite a race war? There is a minority of over-the-top idiots everywhere.
