So what's the gameplay gonna be like? 3rd person shooter/brawler? Premise looks cool but I'm going to need to play it. Not sold on Naughty Dog's shooting mechanics.

...... they have 2 teams now, dude.....

Really? I didn't actually know that, dude.......................................................................................................................................

.........................................

So every single creature is a zombie now.

Every single creature that presents zombie-like behavior? Sure. You could argue that it may not be the case in the game, and that is a possibility, but you know as much as people claiming otherwise, so going by what has been shown... yeah, they are zombies.

I must be jaded, because the trailer did nothing for me.

I am, however, super impressed that they managed to keep Naughty Dog as developer a secret.

We never have had an atmospheric zombie game before. They always trend on the arcade side. I think this could be really awesome. Considering the developer I expect it to be awesome.

I am Legend plus Naughty Dog is a great combo.

Er, Resident Evil?

It's going to utilize Naughty Dog's cinematic strengths to provide a very scripted experience, I can almost guarantee it. Mark this.

Yeah, I think its a given its going to have a cinematic feel to it. But at the same time it will be different. I dont think we will see Ellie there jumping out of collapsing buildings or exploding airplanes.

Bottom line it will be interesting how ND handles a survival game.

I kind of feel that the usual zombies you see in so many games aren't that scary or don't make that of an impact any more. Maybe, I've got desensitized to it, but I guess this one feels different. The 'scare factor' is much higher here it seems, especially if ND makes it a true survival horror game.

everybody getting technical.

Personally I consider anything like the infected in 28 Days Later to be considered zombies in this day and age too. They can have broccoli heads but I'll still consider it a zombie game because the behaviour is so similar.

Screens look amazing and the concept sounds solid.

Glad ND is moving onto to something other than Uncharted. I guess Uncharted 4 will now be a PS4 title.

A bit over the top.
Uncharted games are at their core still shooters. The skill requirement is in the shooting just like any other platformer. Also UC3 had some genuinely difficult puzzles. Sure platforming is easy but there are very few platformers where its difficult.

Uncharted 3 had no difficult puzzles whatsoever. Seriously, did you play some puzzles that were not in my game? Easiest puzzles ever. Didn't get stuck even for more than a 30 seconds before immediately understanding every solution. Shooting becomes difficult on crushing difficulty, but that is unlocked to start with so one has to suffer through the first play through to get there. But in any event, the game's are extremely short and scripted now, so there's huge segments of the game giving way to just auto gaming, and that's not OK to me. If this game is like that, it's not one I'd enjoy.

You may enjoy it and that's fine.

??

I know several Zombie games which will be angry with your classification of 'atmospheric.'

I know. A lot of people are. Just look at the near endless cups of jism exploded over Uncharted 2 and 3. These people don't care if they're not really playing something, if skill requirements are removed, if it's only an illusion. And that's OK.

I'm just saying it's something I would consider bad. If you remove skill requirements (in Naughty Dog's case, with excessive scripting and platforming handholding) you remove tension, and a survival horror game without tension is basically worthless.

I could be wrong. I hope so! I'm just not going to be optimistic until I see otherwise. The trailer immediately suggests another cinematic focus.

I agree about the tension, but scripting doesn't have to diminish the skill-level requirement of the game. Uncharted still managed to be a good challenge on harder difficulties.

There's no info about an effective difference between things things and zombies yet. Seems pedantic to tell people they're not zombies when they act and sound the same.

Defining zombies here as a former human that is mutated/infected/undead and has the single minded purpose of eating/killing/spreading the infection.

Really now.

Perhaps this will be what I hoped Dead Island was going to be (and what it's initial info and trailer indicated), where it's a zombie game that's actually focussed on survival, not mowing down armies of zombies.

Zombie is a pretty broad term. Zombies, infected, mushroom people, whatever you want to call them -- conceptually they're the same thing.

It's Naughty Dog, and I'm sure this game will be fucking great, but saying "NO THEY'RE DIFFERENT CAUSE FUNGUS" makes you sound silly.

Its A shooter, uncharted 3 barely had any platformming.

Nice trailer. I'm mildly hyped for the game now. I just hope it isn't heavily scripted. Some nice environmental puzzles would be nice, exploration, emphasis on survival, etc.

Favorite part of the trailer: Bearded Drake and Vidya Ellen Page leaning up against the wall while the ZOMBIES (yes, they're fucking zombies. They behave just like zombies would, regardless if they're undead or not) busted in. The facial expressions are just amazing.

Waiting patiently for previews and eventually some gameplay vidyas.

Now THOSE are zombies.

It's funny how fervently some people try to downplay and twist what Naughty Dog does with cutscenes, when Naughty Dog has the closest things to 'real' cutscenes in their games. They just have the upgraded textures and lighting that come from being able to dedicated to the cutscene alone.

But keep on hating
