With Naughty Dog's ability to tell a story and make the player have an emotional connection with the characters, I think this game will be the game that the original Dead Island trailer wanted to be. Basically, I trust Naughty Dog more than other developer in the world to be able to nail "The Road" in video game form.
There bro http://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=qLGxubfC1Ik
Enjoy.
I hope to god if they do platforming they completely rework what's become stale in the Uncharted games.
The action-platforming in Uncharted is without equal... but there regular "break in the action" platforming is ZZZzzzzzzZZZzZZzzzzzzzzzz.
Seriously.
If these people climb in the game I hope it's a completely new animation system, and that there's some actual risk involved. Otherwise I'd rather not see it at all.
I know it is wayyyyy too fucking early to be talking about this, but I wonder if they want to make this into a trilogy or is it just going to be a 1 shot deal.
They should keep the climbing limited.
Pulling yourself up a ledge? fine
leaping from narrow handhold to narrow handhold over an infinity feet chasm before taking a giant leap? not fine.
Actually, they render Uncharted cinematics on PS3. They've said so, and showed where/how they render them. It's very clear they render them under the very same engine as the game is using anyway. There are scenes in the game, either gameplay or realtime cutscenes, that look completely indistinguishable compared to regular cutscenes. They are rendered on a PC, not on PS3. Games are made on PCs, not on consolesThe engine/editor is running on PCs, and they rendered the cinematics on PCs.
That picture of a girl is the best realtime character render I've seen in any game on anything.Yeah really impressive for a PS3 game

Funny thought. Girl survives first game. Grows up / toughens up for a few years. By the second game does the rebooted Tomb Raider thing better than the actual rebooted Tomb Raider.
Then Naughty Dog will have two AAA franchises that are Tomb Raider but better than Tomb Raider.

That picture of a girl is the best realtime character face I've seen in any game on anything. I guess the closest thing I can think of would be BF3 characters (which still look more artificial and animate badly in comparison) or UC3 characters, which are much more stylized.Yeah really impressive for a PS3 game

Ellen Page!
Rings of Power would be M-rated today for nudity.this might be naughty gods first M rated game

I think it's probably not focused on combat. It could be focused on trapping zombies in the environment, using the environment against them, working together to defeat them...I mean it's obviously not going to be like Resident Evil with the stupid downward stabbing knife.
I think it is important to mention that Sony and Naughty Dog never specifically stated that there were "horror" elements in the press release. They only mention "survival" and "action."
I think there will be a "horror" element, but it will stem from the survival element. I expect a lot of running, hiding and constantly moving from place to place while being chased to be a common element of the game. Not so much direct "horror" that is sell-able as opposed to indirect horror built through extreme tension and suspense. Personally, I want that more than the direct "use loud noises and jump out scares" type of horror.
I sense that the survival and action elements will be using the devices you have to the best of your ability. Remember, "action" doesn't necessarily mean shooting guns and blowing stuff up. A lot of running, jumping, evading and external stuff like seeing other people get attacked or a mass of mutant infected things clamoring around a chain link fence looking to get at a family or something could all be considered "action." I think we'll see a lot of extremely emotional set pieces. I don't know, like a daughter trying to wake up her dead father, only to have a bunch of those things slowly walk up and pull her away from her father, hearing nothing but the screams and mass of others joining in... I don't know, a bunch of shocking, emotionally tough scenes to really drive home the survival portion of the game.
There will most certainly be guns, knives and fighting, but something tells me that it won't be a huge, main part of the game. Maybe because the creatures you are fighting will have strength in numbers and you won't have the equipment to fight all of them off, you'll have to choose when you want to use what you have at the potential of having nothing in the future.

Uncharted 2 director? Even better. Uncharted 2 is the best game out of the three by a good fucking long country mile.
Uncharted is nothing like Tomb Raider at all. That game's focus was more about puzzles and platforming. Hell, all of their shooting elements had auto-lock.
Uncharted/Gears is a more apt comparison. One is heavier than the other though.
WTF I thought the same thing! XD
Damn... I'm already familiar with the names of Joel and Ellie. Naughty Dog... how do you do it!? That trailer conveyed more emotion and character development that like 90% of games out there right now...
The amount of generic they packed into the trailer really is quite impressive.
*yawn*
Watching the trailer again it really does seem like there are going to be some survival elements in there, like I am Legend. Whats surprising to me is that I cant think of a game that runs with the idea of I am Legend (unless I'm forgetting something...?), but it seems like an obvious thing to do.
Looks AMAZING, and I don't even have a ps3 anymore.
If this game does what every other zombie game fails to do, which is tell an amazing and deep story (unlike l4d, dr, and dead island), it will be the greatest zombie of all time.
It's why I am so excited for this game. Naughty Dog are the masters of character interaction. Even if it was just a 'zombie game', that fact alone would make this game stand out.
I cannot wait to hear/see more about this game. I hope they have a press event asap.
Your posts are always a delight.
As much as I love Naughty Dog and UC, I am going to be very dissapoint if TLOU is as linear and scripted as Uncharted.
And judging by how good the graphics are looking, this is likely to be the case :/
Really hoping ND proves me wrong.
This news makes me wonder... How big is Naughty Dog Studio now? they had 2 projects being developed back2back... WOW.
All Hail Naughty Gods ...
What, I can't have an opinion?
Man seeing this and the Epic game.. Fuck zombies. Shits really getting old. So over used.
*sigh*
