The Last of Us (Naughty Dog): Hold One Second

well since the raw ND talent from U2 seems to be on this I'm looking forward to it more, but its a shame U3 had to suffer in that regard and now seems like a treading water game in retrospect.

The premise still doesn't excite me because I just feel like the apocalyptic city over-run by some form of zombie thing has so run its course I'd have rather ND looked to other setting tropes like futuristic sci-fi or even something medieval to splash their engine cash over.

Also between Ellie and the more modest Lara Croft, I wonder if next-gens oversaturated main character type will be lithe yet modestly not too-sexy females getting covered in dirt to replace this gen's bald/brown haired space marine set.

Where's that Rick Castle gif where he wants to respond but doesn't even know where to begin... cause it would be appropriate atm.

Now fungus are generic haha.

By the way, why the heck does everyone imply that ALL the cutscenes in Uncharted are pre-rendered? Because that's far from the truth.

There are a good number of real time cutscenes on Uncharted 2 and 3 (at least) that are the same as gameplay. They look better because they focus on near shots, where everything looks better. The further you look the worst things look. And seeing how this trailer looks mindblowing indoors and just amazing outdoors, I say it's pretty possible it's real time.

Looks great.. but I'm not that much of a "zombie" person. :/
I didnt even like the Sci-fi parts of the Uncharted games.

Hopefully it is not just zombies, but exploration and a nice thick story.

I loved Uncharted 2 and I've got the third game waiting for me as a christmas present so hearing all this negative nancy talk has me worried. Was it really that disappointing?

I bet this game has a heavier melee focus then Uncharted.

Judging from the trailer If ammo is rare I could see then having a Mirrors Edge style set up where melee is your go to but you use guns when you have to.
But in normal 1 on 1 and small groups your beating the zombies with a plank of wood or a bat or something.

I am sure there are better examples then Mirrors Edge but you get the idea...

Also Naughty Dog almost have enough IP's to make there own Naughty Dog Racers kart game featuring nothing but diffrent characters from ND games.

I am sure Activision wont mind letting then use Crash if they asked. They are not doing shit with him and they dont mind giving away all the ps1 crash games to ps+ people for the lulz.

And what's a generic zombie? Honestly. What does that mean? What's a generic soldier, knight, vampire, football player, wizard, ninja, pirate, etc, etc? I'm sure ND zombies/infected/mutants in LOU will be anything but generic.

No way , its disappointing.

Many Find it the best in the series or some find uncharted 2 better. Its a great game play it :)

No there aren't, there's very few of them, and they look noticeably worse than the prerendered stuff, mostly because of the animation which is just not at the same level. I loves me some Uncharted but let's not post bullshit here.

No, U3 is great, it takes a little while to get going but then you will play through some of the best gaming moments the series has to offer.

It was my GOTY. By a large margin. *shrugs* This is neogaf dude.

It's the same story as always and mostly by the same people.
Uncharted: "uhh aaaah Drake is a mass murderer"
The Last of Us: Uhggg Zombies again??? Meh!"

Was about to post this exact thing. lol beat me to it.

If there is one thing I've learned about NeoGAF is that the collective opinion is often set in by a mob mentality.

According to GAF I shouldn't have loved ME2 or Dragon Age 2 as much as I have.

Just play games you love to play and ignore the collective 'review' GAF ends up with.

Fuck no. The game is AMAZING. More so post patch (make sure you select the new aiming option). It's probably not as good as UC2, but that's perfectly down to personal taste. Some people prefer it, some people don't.

There are some design choices that took a step back, and overall it has a bit of a different focus interms of pacing and gameplay, some likes it more, some doesn't, but it's not too bad especially with the aiming fix

It is awesome. You have nothing to fear if you liked the previous Uncharted games.

It's a great game. Not quite as good as UC2, but it's still great. Don't worry.

Thanks guys, I absolutely loved Uncharted 2, finished it in two sittings, so I don't know how I couldn't really love 3. Can't wait to dig into it, and I'll admit I'm pleased I waited until all that aiming stuff was fixed.

Has anyone else gone back and listened to the original trailer now they've seen the reveal? I did just to hear Joel's voice again with a bit more context on the character.

Semi agree. Though it's kind of natural and inevitable, especially when you have so little to go with when it comes to The Last of Us.

Well then let's talk about their second team now ;)
So they have two teams now, which means they're bigger than before (UC2 times).
I thought ND had around 85-90 men/women.
With their second studio.... they should have more now.
How much?
Is it a second team inside the same building, or a second studio with it's own building?

At least we know that the Lead Designer of Enslaved is working on this game.

No its just not quite as polished, and the aiming was pretty bad compared to U2...although they patched that. It has one the great interactive set pieces I've ever played in a game spread out over a couple of chapters. I liked it better than 2 myself.

ROFL! the first games to use Cordyceps as a source for mutating humans, their skulls plit open and have mushrooms grow out of their fucking head and its a generic zombie game?

I am very interested in this game since I kinda had the same idea for an interactive graphic novel I was working on a year ago, but dropped due to lack of time. I hope we see other animals to, all infected with this fungi.

Also to those who wonder why they can't cure it. fungi infection are one of the hardest things to cure, since anti fungi substances damage your immune system.

When do you guys think this will hit? late 2012? I hope it does. With 2 teams; I'm hoping we get a ND game every year provided quality doesn't drop. 2 year turn around per project; alternate years. going to be awesome

There are fungi-people in Super Mario, are those Cordyceps or zombies or something else? :)

Okay, I gotta admit, the fact they have a Enslaved guy working on this worries me a little... the foliage shouldve be a clue.

Please please please please please dont be an ultra linear Uncharted clone!

after watching 2 minutes of this trailer, i know everything about this game and all of its content.
