Is there an app which rotates your lock screen background every once in a while, I am torn between 4 backgrounds to use and would just like to use them all!

What does that mean in real terms to those of us that don't follow this stuff?
PowerVR is a brand of GPUs that Apple licenses in their iOS devices. TI uses it as well in their OMAP processors which is in the Galaxy Nexus. Also, the Vita. They make good GPUs.

When I'm using the mail tile, which is connected to my gmail account, and I need to search through old e-mails for something, it always says that it can't connect to the server. I can see the past 7-8 e-mails but I can't see any further past that.

Also, youtube videos sometimes work, and sometimes don't. Is this a fight with Google sort of thing, or is my setup messed up?

edit: I changed my Google e-mail account settings to download e-mails from "anytime" instead of the past month. I'm not sure if there's a better way, but this will work fine.

Anyone have experience with the microsoft ad sdk on WP7 games? I'm about to submit a game but have some trouble with understanding things. Do you need to register somewhere first?

I found this website (which has the most horrible family picture of all time) but no concrete info.

LOL, Kinectimals for iOS. SMH Microsoft

Wonder why they are allowing first party software on 3rd party devices. I know we're not talking about Halo or something, but giving up software to the competition is almost like bending over and admitting defeat, isn't it?

You could definitely pull unique customers by offering exclusive software...wonder if this title is harmless enough that they don't care or something.

They're making more money on iOS.

A little game revenue will not come even close to the money they stand to lose if windows phone (and windows 8 for tablets) does not get a foothold in the market. Although I get the impression that windows 8 will eventually take over on the phone anyways despite what ms says publicly.

I understood the xbox live app (and even would not have a problem if they put their other services like skydrive, office and zune on ios/android) but selling their exclusive content is a different animal (you don't see mgs produced games showing up on ps3 and there is a very good reason for that... nobody would buy xbox if it didn't have that exclusive content).

WP7 has always been a stopgapp.

*shrug* if Microsoft wants to pawn off the family fortune that's their right. But why does it have to be only on iOS though? I would sell my first unborn child for a feature complete version of OneNote running on the Samsung Galaxy Note. MS should show Android some love
they earn more money from it that WP7 and iOS combined
. Put Halo in the App Market— optimize it for the Xperia Play even I would buy it.

Understandable, isn't it? Imagine Dropbox would only work on OSX and iOS.

They're working on Android apps. Lync 2010 for Android is coming.

I've had it, if they port the people, music, and pictures hub to ios I'm outta here.

All kidding aside, I don't think any of the stuff that has been ported so far has sold a single windows phone. Ever.

Am I the only one who noticed that there is no "Windows Live" branding on the SkyDrive apps outside of the WLID login. Also, Googling SkyDrive, it now says "Microsoft SkyDrive" for the first result, not Windows Live SkyDrive.

Maybe Microsoft is moving away from the Windows Live branding? I think that would be a smart move.

didn't realise the phone read text messages out to you over bluetooth. Was just parking the car, when suddenly this disembodied voice goes 'you have a text message from xxx. Read or ignore'. So I say 'read' and it reads it out to me :) Even read out the smiley as 'laughing smiley'. Then let me 'reply, call or ignore'. So I called back.

Really nice experience, if a little spooky initially

Eh that one dude already posted he got a WP because of the Xbox App and the promise it brings.

I'd agree in general I don't think anything ported over was selling the platform, but collectively it's definitely another piece of the WP7 puzzle that isn't unique anymore.

Now the OS is purely selling on Metro only. It also doesn't help that the app situation especially game wise is fucking horrifically bad, and instead of trying to help that situation out MS is spending it's own resources on other platforms. WP7 still gets the general application shaft with iOS and Android being lead platforms 99% of the time, and WP7 MIGHT get an app down the road. Even if it does it's usually late, and it doesn't receive the support iOS and Android apps usually get in terms of updates.

In terms of games it's just horrid other than a few port cash-ins like PVZ or Angry Birds. Instead of having 343i's mobile team working on a Halo game for WP7 they are to busy making wavepoint for iOS and Android. Heck it wouldn't surprise me if 95% or more of 343 all use Android or iPhones.

MS has a culture problem when their own employees like Major Nelson actively use their competitors products such as the iPhone and even joke about how they do. It kills any kind of momentum the platform could have from the inside out.

None of this would be a problem if we still weren't getting the shaft from 3rd party developers and such. As fast as the WP7 marketplace is growing we aren't gaining enough MEANINGFUL marketshare in terms of the hearts and minds of all of the cutting edge mobile developer world. As great as I think Metro is interface wise until this problem is solved I don't see how MS ever gets over the hump with the masses.

I know people have said how in the past, but I am lazy. How do you enable this behavior? Or is it just over blue tooth?

And good on MS for creating gateways to their services on other platforms. They are letting their software do the talking and trying to get back consumer mindshare. Any idea when those apps are supposed to be dropping. I want to pick up that SkyDrive one but I can't find it on the Marketplace.

I used to think this was a good thing that they used competitors products to see what works and what doesn't but you are right about the way major nelson and crew talk about wp7 like an afterthought. I have to imagine the windows phone folks are pissed at the way people in their own company treat their phone.

It does sound like they will be more involved with windows 8 so maybe that will get them working together again. Hoping to see that windows 8 xbox interface they demoed a while back in action to see what all it will have. Kinda expecting all the gaming+multiplayer, zune music pass+video stuff, and hopefully the companion app all built into that one interface.

There are superior alternatives already available. =P

No there fucking aren't Metro skins on android that are actually better than metro on windows phone. Go troll somewhere else.

Edit: also, it would be pathetic and ridiculous for Microsoft to force its employees to use Windows phones. I believe they get steep discounts on them at At&T anyway. The platform won't grow on forced usage and fake enthusiasm. It needs halo devices, apps, and deeper integration with the company's best services and platforms. MS can direct their teams to develop that integration without forcing the devs to own phones.

As frustrating as it is to see the platform flounder, we have to put blame on MS for not accelerating their wp7 development as well as allowing this year's hardware crop to somehow be worse than the launch batch, to ignore two major carriers here, and to be too slow to iterate things like lte and dual core that are selling points, even if they are not essential to the core experience.
