It was a good four-way, for sure, but top 5 of the year anywhere? Someone needs to watch more "no-name backyard indies" and Japanese wrestling, rather than just presuming that what WWE does is automatically better.
All I'm saying is, MITB happened and HHH made that storyline about him the next night.

Edit: Also, I'm not even sure the fatal four way was even in the top 5 WWE matches this year, let alone ALL wrestling matches.

See, I'm not even trying to be negative. I'm just confused. I know you're all into whatever you're into. Matthew Gallant likes anime pictures of Matt Hardy having sex with Jeff Hardy. spindashing likes white women. Boootay likes Shakespeare and syringe spots. Some of you even convinced yourselves that Daniel Bryan is an entertaining WWE Superstar.
But, fuck, when everyone goes nuts over fucking Kane chokeslamming fucking John Cena in fucking 2011, I just don't know what the fuck's going on anymore.

It may have to do with the fact that Kane finally returned. That RAW ended with Cena laid out on the mat instead of Cena reaching a new level of Super Saiyan and overcoming the odds.
The mask chokeslammed John Cena in 2011. Plus I think people love RAWs that end with Cena looking up at the lights.

Of course we all KNEW that Triple H winning the Slammy was a segue to his return. It's not like we're under the impression that the Slammys mean anything. I think a lot of us just mark out for things like the Slammys while still fully knowing that they don't mean anything and are just another springboard for angles and such. Plus you have to admit that coming back by winning a Slammy is a pretty egotistical thing for Trips to do. He could have just as easily shown up out of the blue (or at least with minimal setup) on Monday with exactly the same effect and given someone else the Slammy rub.
It's because (at least for me) Kane, and especially masked Kane, reminds us of when we really enjoyed wrestling as kids/teenagers. It's a connection to the "good old days" before heel Cole, ego Trips, bringing it via satellite, Hustle Loyalty Respect, etc. Simply put, it's nostalgia.

His taking out Cena was a bonus too, I guess. Like I said before, once they botch his monster run, the honeymoon's over....which should be in about a month.

As someone how doesn't care for Hogan at all I remember hating it, I was very much with McMahon for this one, lousy bias lie detector. And then the story ended in the most anticlimactic way possible anyway with Hogan removing the mask after a show and then that footage was played next week as evidence. Still it has some comic value.
