lol, all hail Viz.

I was in akiba earlier today. Holy shit, so many Vita advertisements everywhere.

I'm definitely picking a few units for work/friends on Sat.

The advertisements were neat, there was one with a cute girl <3

You need to give proper feedback on the sticks for fighting games. <_<

I played BlazBlue and UMVC3 on the Vita's D-pad and they were fine, who plays fighting games on analog sticks anyway?
Don't kill me. :(

I almost busted my thumb open on the PSP 2000 d-pad trying to beat SFA3M world tour mode, I'm not sure I want to go down that path again.

Vita's d-pad is different from the PSP one, so it might not be that bad. Plus, it would be worse to break the stick, right?

WOLFKRONE. Probably the best pad Street Fighter player of all time. He uses analog sticks.

or find a way build an arcade stick that allows you to plug the vita into it and use it as a screen and also allows video out to a big screen D:

Ono-san mentioned that. So who knows!

DEM POCKETS!

THEY'RE DEEEP!

I got $2700 in funds from my previous job (tax return stuff+bonus money from the in-laws), although two grand went towards a trip with my wife (which is how I got the okay to import this thing, lol) plus I've made sure to ask relatives for dat cash as gifts this year...Vita being the reason, lol. The difference comes out to under $300, which while pricey, is something I should be able to get in gift money pretty easily. I also have a sidejob I do monthly that nets me $135 or more for only an hour or two of work.

Still, if I waited, that $300 could be used for a bunch of U.S. launch titles...

I'm guessing you're young enough to not care that investing that $2700 now would pay huge dividends when it's time to retire?

It's not like the nine-month wait for the original PlayStation to show up here; it's barely 60 days. Tough it out.

I'd say life is short and it's only money. I've spent things on similar things myself, even if this time I'm planning to wait for Vita's Western release. It'll be a long couple of months though.

the only thing i've ever imported from japan was the white dualshock 3 when it first released. i was so stoked. now, i can't seem to find it and it makes me sad. that was a cool memory :(

i guess i'm otherwise pretty patient for stuff to hit NA (and i don't speak japanese haha).

4am here - this time tomorrow i'll be wandering about not finding the queues again like last week! ;)

Have my purchasing pants all ready - still keep questioning which games to go with but think i've got them down.

It maps the face buttons (or d-pad, depending on the game) to the right stick. It's still not true analog control but it works much better.

A similar improvement happens on the 3DS with 3D games. Moving around with the slidpad is much better than the dpad, even though the slide pad is just emulating the 8 directions you can use in a dpad.
So we can use the right stick to control the camera in titles like 3rd Birthday abd Resistance: Retribution as long as we can configure the game's camera controls to the d-pad?

Fuck me, if so, I'm even more stoked for Vita!

I would hope that Resistance would use the right stick through the code for the DS3 built into it (you could use the right analog stick for camera when playing the game hooked up through your PS3)

Totally jealous of the Japanese right now :(

Expecting lots of awesome impressions and stuff
^^^ ya jelly...

?????? I just remembered 3rd Birthday!!! Hmmm, if I can map the second stick, I will replay that game for sure!

Anyway as a Nintendo leaning gamer I hope Vita succeeds. It would be sad to see such an excellently engineered handheld fail. I think it'll succeed in Japan, its in the west that worries me. I'd like nintendo and sony to show all these analysts that there is a market for dedicated handhelds, even if they become somewhat smaller than mobile in the future.
