By far my favorite of X-Force was

The raising of Kid Apocalypse to be superman. Such a nice reference to good guy boy scout origin.

I cannot rave about Uncanny X-Force enough. Probably the best run I've ever experienced in superhero comics, no lie.

The pace is brisk, enough happens in each issue, and use of reader's perceived knowledge of the medium and other pop culture to just display things in one page rather than waste several is the kind of master-stroke writing I want to see more of in comics.

If only the trade was out by now I would have bought it for all my friends as Uncanny X-Mas Gifts. Do they ever do consolidated run trades of like 1-18?

They'll probably do an omnibus of 1-19 (19 is an epilogue of sorts I think) but it won't come out until after everything is out in paperback.

Batwoman 4 and Shade 3 were two of the best comics I've read in ages.

If you woulda told me I was gonna see a tasteful lesbian sex scene in a comic book yesterday I would have laughed at you.

This.

I really like how it was done. I don't know the general consensus but it didn't seem tacky to me at all.

Also, really enjoyed the ending and how that small tidbit ended up coming together.

The way she found out Kate's identity, was actually really clever. Is this spoilers? I don't know the rules.

Man a month long wait is too long.

My mouth was agape the whole time because I was just floored that it didn't feel like some voyeuristic and puerile sex fantasy.

If that had been written or drawn by just about anybody else, it could have been a complete disaster. The entire Batwoman team is just schooling the industry right now. This is what I want out of a superhero comic book.

Kate Kane and Batwoman have to share one life and it shows. This shit is delicious. I live for this book.

Diana, gurl....................................................Kate's coming for you.

Aw man...

Head's up:

Jason Aaron's final arc of Wolverine ends at 300.
http://marvel.com/news/story/17854/marvel_mystery_liveblog

Actually it begins at 300, but yes, this is the final Jason Aaron's Wolverine story. Next up, Jeph Loeb and Simone Bianchi bringing back Sabretooth! Its not humanly possible to care any less about that creative team and that idea.

Luckily, we still have Aaron writing him in Wolverine and the X-Men, Remender has Logan in Uncanny X-Force, and Liu uses him in Astonishing X-men, so no tears from me. Excited to see how this all wraps up.

"As we enter 2012, it's kind of a period of transition for me. It seemed a good time to end some old things I've been doing the whole course of my career as I move into some new things. People have responded well to my Wolverine stuff, but I want to go out with them still feeling that way." -Jason Aaron

Quick quote.

Sorry to hear about Barreto. He was a real talent...

On a more light topic, the preview for Uncanny X-Force #19 is up, with art by Robbie Rodriguez.

Looks good. It's not Opena, but I dig it.

Decided to jump in and start reading Doctor Who #12. I'm only 4 episodes in with Matt Smith's season but I enjoy the show and was hoping the comic would be similar. This was a weird issue to begin with because there is virtually no dialogue, but it's a light-hearted Christmas story so it fits nicely. The art is fun, it's kind of a mix of Francesco Francavilla's style and Tiny Titans. The next issue starts a four part arc which I guess returns to the regular Doctor Who storyline so I'll be giving that a go.

Also picked up Batgirl #4 and thought the dialogue was fine and enjoyed this story arc. Earlier in the week people were hating on it, and I still don't understand why. The book's got a ton of inner monologue and I think it works well for this Batgirl.

I just LOVE Dean White's colors, he captures the perfect atmosphere for every scene. The ice cold blue of the cases in the scene about death, the sunset brown of an adventure come to an end as the AoA go back to the future, the light pink of a kiss farewell from Kurt to Jean.

Yeah I really hope it does, will gift the shit out of it to my lapsed comic friends if it does. A run like this needs to be honoured.

Great to read that interview and all the longform stuff they planned. Thats whats been missing from lots of comics for a long time, and why Uncanny X-Force is soooogood.gif I'd like them to maybe step off the 'Fantomex is the best he has all of this cool secret shit and is an hero' line of development though as Wolvie often gets a bit too relegated to non-leader and has been out for the count in most of the big final showdowns.

If X-Force stuff is bleeding into WatXM, then I guess that titles already won the war hasnt it? An example of that already is Logan pushing Bobby to become what the IceMan from AoA had achieved. And I'd say the 2 new characters at the end of #18 will fit in pretty well with what the school reps.

A pity shit like X-Sanction and X-MEN VS AVENGERS could encroach on anything lonform at all. Stop giving Jeph Loeb mainstream bookwork, for the love of god.

People are so needlessly cynical about this sort of shit. What crossover "ruined" Hickman's Fantastic Four, or Frankencastle, or even Aaron's Wolverine?

Yikes.

Well I'd say Hickman's shit on his own foot bringing Johnny Storm back so soon, but with big team books like WatXM and UXF, theres always a danger lurking there of outside interference. This is the same company after all that forced through the editorial decision to fuck with like 20 years of Spider continuity on something of a whim. Loeb has already irreversibly fucked with 2 books I loved either killing them dead or taking the wind out of their sails so they'd never really get back to form.

Hopefully sales for UXF are speaking for themselves.

Marvel doesn't really care about the X-Books though if Rob Liefeld is right due to Fox owning the rights to them. I think they're safe.

Plus, these days, any crossover stuff lives in its own crossover mini. Uncanny X-Force crossed over with Fear Itself and I bet no one even noticed. Did you?

;D

I wish I was all caught up with UXF but I'm not. :(

Missed some issues here and there so I just stopped reading and waiting for a nice trade.

But what I did read this week was New Avengers and I like it. So far it's looking pretty predictable but it's fun. I have no idea what the timeline is between this and the main Avengers book is though.

That's it. I'm going to borrow my friend's UXF trades. I feel like I'm missing a really awesome party here.

I wish this were true for every book so that Black Panther didn't have to waste three fucking issues caught up in other books' crap.

Speaking of, comixology, y u no have latest issues? It's finals time brahs. I don't have time to go to the store! :(

good god uncanny x-force!! that omnibus can't come soon enough. the pay off and wrap off to 18 issues was so good AND it set up new stuff too. Bendis can learn a thing or two about writing from this book.

Question:
is Sunfire dead?

this was the last post on the last page. I need an answer!

EDIT: just noticed the preview. makes me sad!!

Batwoman 4 and Shade 3 were two of the best comics I've read in ages.

The James Robinson writing the Shade is NOT the same James Robinson that recently had a run on Justice League. I refuse to believe the quality of his writing can vary so wildly.

There are basically two James Robinsons. There's the Robinson that cares (JSA/Starman/The Golden Age Robinson) and the one that's "interested," but not really invested (Superman, Justice League).

The latter still has his moments (World of New Krypton was fun here and there), but the former is the James Robinson people buy the book for.

If anything, the excellence of The Shade just makes me that much more excited for his upcoming Justice Society series with Nicola Scott.

And Cat Woman. The Invisible Woman refused to appear in the campaign. Ads are for the Associação da Luta Contra o Cancer (ALCC) in Mozambique promoting, of course, breast cancer awareness. Maybe by not showing the superheroes faces, the non-profit organization doesn't have to pay licensing fees to Marvel and D.C.? Or maybe they're just hoping the ads slip under the radar. Body copy reads:

"When we talk about breast cancer, there's no women or superwomen. Everybody has to do the self-examination monthly. Fight with us against the enemy and, when in doubt, talk with your doctor."

This campaign will almost certainly bring in some metal at next year's ad awards shows. If the agency can prove they ran. What am I saying? They won't have to prove anything. Ad agency: DDB, Mozambique. Rub one out, nerds.

I was rubbing one out long before I got your approval Mr. Fancy New Yorker. LOL LOL LOL

Comics will be happening the day after tomorrow for me. :(

American Vampire hits the 50s and Scott Snyder tells us about it. More minis coming in 2012 too!

O.M.G.
For art on this arc, Albuquerque is also changing up his approach, and Snyder was both surprised and gratified by the results. "Rafael is my brother in arms. In terms of creators, he and Jeff Lemire are my closet friends in the business," he said. "In this story, he wanted to do something more like a Geoff Darrow where the details are all throughout the background and define the era of the '50s. The appliances and the cars and the homes and all that Norman Rockwell stuff all fit into the background. It's always there. So his art is much more detailed than you saw before. It's not the watercolory stuff in grey wash you saw in World War II. It's all hard inks, crystal clear. And the covers were all his ideas, too. I had wanted to do something like Pearl serving up a severed head at Thanksgiving dinner like Norman Rockwell, and he said, 'Why don't we do all the covers like ads?'"

I thought for sure the Internet was completely exaggerating the greatness of the Dark Angel conclusion. I'll never doubt you again, Internet.
