It's definitely ugly, but at the same time, the actual game is quite a appealing. The original Shinobido on PSP was infinitely worse looking yet still a very solid stealth action game. Now that you can see more than 2 meters in front of your character it should be more enjoyable.

Aquire typically fails to deliver on the visuals front, unfortunately, and this is no exception.
How did it compare, gameplay wise, to something like Tenchu Z?

Pretty impressive FIFA :wow:

So not sure if someone asked this already but... anybody know what the system can do without a memory card or what are the benefits with one? Aside from the obvious like digital downloads, being able to use the media player, and play games that require you to have one. For example, does the web browser function better with a memory card? Can you still add LiveAreas for all the retail games onto the system without one?

The max resolution for both front and back camera from wikipedia says 640x480 max resolution at 60fps.

The camera should be pretty good for its purpose, its rated 120fps at 320x240 and 60fps at 640x480 which is great. If it's anything like the PSeye camera it should work well, that camera worked pretty well in low light and had very little lens distortion for such a small camera.

Finally got around to watch the recorded redsungamer live stream.

The Vita UI is so awesomely fast. Love the smooth animations and transitions.

ridge racer is up on german amazon 29,99€
oh wow.. shinobido 2 too.. 49,99€ though..

good price?

If this isn't a placeholder price but actual German RRP for the more expensive titles...fuck you, Sony Europe.

Wait, it's only 10€ more than those PSP games everybody bought boat loads of!

PS: I hope Uncharted and other games with non-native res or framerate problems get polished for rest of the world launch. But I'd take unpolished games over not having a Vita :/

Brian Ashcraft is really really high on Vita in his review for Kotaku :)

The thumbsticks work well. Yes, I wish I could press them down like I can with the DualShock 3's thumbsticks. But, perhaps, that will come in a feature iteration—maybe not. If not, that's okay, because these thumbsticks do the job.

One of my favorite things about the Vita is just how easy it is to hold. The back of the PS Vita has two groves to comfortably hold the portable. Smartly, Sony gave up on trying to get the Vita to fit in your back pocket, and the Vita screams I AM A GAME MACHINE.

That being said, I would not chuck this handheld in my bag like I would with Nintendo's seemingly indestructible handhelds. If you are going to get a PS Vita, do get a case. The Vita's screen looks like it could get scratched, and the portable is a dust magnet.

The screen is something else. At home, I have a Panasonic television from 2005. It's starting to show its age, and it's not full HD, but it works okay. Whenever I play video games in controlled environments, such as at studios or trade shows, I get to experience them under optimal visual conditions. At home, because of the set-up I unfortunately have, there's a slight dip. But on the Vita, there isn't that dip. You get that optimal experience all the time, no matter how old your television is.

Even more beautiful than the OLED screen, is the user interface Sony has running on it. For years, I've used Japanese electronics, and I've found the interface on so many of them to be maddening. For a country and a culture that values simplicity, the user interfaces are often anything but. They're clunky, clumsy, and often don't make a lot of sense. Sony's XMB interface for the PSP and the PS3 is quite good. The Vita's interface is much better. Previously, I posted a walk-through on Kotaku, which you can check out here. This interface, along with the rear-touch, were the two things that really sold me on this system. Both are simple and both are clever. Yet, neither are gimmicky.

There's more at the link obviously, including more of his minor gripes.

February...argh...

GAF, whats your thoughts on shipping from JPN to UK for a VITA right now? Amazon have plenty in stock and my friends there are happy to send it over, but both of us are very naive about whats the best way to send it over and if sending it is even a possibility right now

Quick mingol question... What determines whether I get a star or a crown (perfect) when completing a challenge round?

..and how can I get online to work? I have a code in the box...but if it needs me to go to the psn store then I'm screwed because I'm using a us account. Plus it makes 'region free' not entirely true if they are going to lock out multiplayer

My Vita arrived this morning from Japan (uk here) - though Im at work
Now I just need my games and memory card to arrive (ordered seperately) grrr

Are you sure you mean kryptonite?

It made perfect sense - he said "Wipeout is like my kryptonite so I'm sort of glad it's not there right at launch.", meaning he's glad it's not there otherwise he'd have to buy a Vita against his will due to Wipeout (his kryptonite).

Risible, explaining the internet since 1995.

Kryptonite repels superman, makes him weak and physically sick.

I guess you could suggest that Wipeout is his weakness, and that's why he would buy a Vita at launch. Still, Superman wants to have nothing to do with kryptonite because it will eventually kill him.

Unless you're in a Bryan Singer film, then you can lift an island of that shit.

Whats the story behind the 'Apocalyptic!' thing?

but how do you do that? Both uncharted and mingol showed up in savedata settings, but said there was no data there..

Did you figure out the trophy uncharted problem? I've heard a few people say that resetting the carts does let you get trophies again and then i've read reports that say that you can't ever get trophies on another account =/

So has it been the "turn off wifi while playing" reported as a bug for some games or it's a feature (a bad one) to save battery power?

Can someone with uncharted (it turns wifi off right?) try playing it with the charger plugged in? If "turn off wifi while playing" is a feature and it's just about saving battery then probably wifi should stay on if you're not running off the battery?

Please forgive me if I ask something that's already discussed

Does PSV trophies have a separate index from the PS3 trophies or do they accumulate? I mean, when you log on PS3 and go to your trophy collection do you see Vita trophies? And PSV trophies contribute to rising your level?

You got it. I am powerless against it. :)

Although if it is coming to PS3 as well....

In addition, is there a grouping of Vita versus PS3 titles with associated trophies?

To be fair, PS Vita sales are only for two days. 3DS sales are for full week.

That doesn't matter. This is a horrible opening! Vita is doomed. It'll be discontinued by the end of 2012!

I'm not letting Nuclear Muffin take my King of Crazy title!

I'm 99% sure this is the case.

In addition, is there a grouping of Vita versus PS3 titles with associated trophies?
This is an interesting question however, particularly for those games that are "shared" across the platforms.

Ok, so I didn't realize how few Vita games would have English language options....are there any good PSP games from the JPN store that have English?

I know FF1 and FF2 do....does Tactics:WotL? Or any other great PSP games? Have 10,000 yen to spend...
