NHL December |OT| The Team You Cheer For is Not Good Compared To Our Team

With the Sharks he was, not to blow your tyres up or anything but (seemingly) Thornton can make anyone he plays with a terrific point producer.

That's what I was trying to say, Thornton made Seto and Cheechoo appear much better than they were in reality. It has slowed down recently though, Thornton plays a way better two way game now so the points have been sacrificed but he's playing with Marleau and Pavelski who are so much better than either Seto or Cheechoo.

And there's no reason why that can't continue, all else being equal. What WILL bring them down is injuries and the fact that they can't keep up this goaltending insanity forever. They've already started to struggle.
Right, but you don't see teams like Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburgh etc dropping like bricks in the standings as soon as they get some injuries or their goalies cool off. Becuase they're not winning every game by the closest margins possible like Minny has been doing. It's not realistic to think a team can win games 2-1 or 3-2 all season long.

Also, in the playoffs there is no loser points or shootouts.

I did say "if Rask is fit to take over the #1 role next season". If he's not, and you'd be jeopardizing your season, then you don't trade Thomas.

I think Rask would be a fine starting goaltender during the regular season, he's just unproven in the post-season. The way the Bruins are built and playing, its not an exaggeration to say they will be in contention for championships over the next two seasons. The return for Tim Thomas in a contract year (his NTC expires this summer) wouldn't bring back enough to be worth it. I'd rather take a shot at a title with my best player and not risk starting Rask unless they are forced to.

"All else being equal". We're not disagreeing here.

For sure. You said "starts dropping down [in the standings]". Totally agreed they're not built for playoff success.

My biggest nightmare is being trapped in an art gallery where there's nothing but 20 foot high portraits everywhere of Tim Thomas smiling that tight-lipped smile he does with a moustache.

Instead of the typical goalie screen Chicago should just have Sharp stare at Budaj with those bedroom eyes of his.

13-2 hits for habs wow, its showing that Randy's using the 4th line a lot more then Martin did which I'm good with if they play like they did in Boston. Is Chicago usually low on hits?

Depends on the game. They might have mistaken some of the Habs for small children and don't want to hit them.

That was a penalty?

:lol wait until you're done a goal before you pull out the smurf chirps :p decent period overall Budaj looked sharp, still need a better zone entry for the PP though.

It says 7-7 on shots but it felt like it was Budaj who was always shot at.

PP has been going the same way for some time. Last year we knew how to position ourselves, had good puck control. This year the other teams just disrupt non-stop, they just go on the offense rather than fall back on defense, and it works, we can't control the puck in their zone like last year.

Players are to slow when making decisions or they make a bad pass.

Nice of the Versus crew to point out the bullshit penalty call on Rinaldo. The refs single him out even more they did with Carcillo, and with Carcillo it was actually deserved.

Don't fall for it TMac! Ground the Lightening!

Maybe try dumping the puck in? Montreal stopped them at the blue line 300 times.

Frolik doing one of the things I do best in NHL 12.
