I saw the original post of this on a forum several years ago. Dude's story implied that he was exploring some abandoned part of a city (Detroit?) and stumbled onto that. There were maybe five more pictures in the set. No idea how true that information, or my memory for that matter, is.

Shawn Elliot talked about it on The Brodeo one time too. Basically, some guy and his pal are hanging around in an abandoned industrial area, presumably having some beers or getting high or something. They hear men's voices and freak, because of course they don't have permission to be where they are. They sneak around to where the voices are coming from and find a bunch of guys in super-hero outfits ploughing and blowing each other while filming, so naturally they take some candid shots and put them online.

I don't think anyone from the, uh, shoot ever actually came forward and explained what the fuck they were doing, though.

I've never understood account suicides. They're rarely done well enough to be worth it, and like you said, if you don't want to be on a particular forum, why purposefully get yourself banned from it? Even if you hate the place, keep your account so that you can use it in the future for some well-timed trolling.
