Lite Music Exclamation Mark 11: Drama? In my K-ON!? Teh shit?
I'm hoping the fever spreads around the school and starts a pandemic the likes only music can heal. It's like a Macross plot.

This is for cajunator:

[Fate/Zero 13]

You know, this whole show could be about Rider and Waver for all I care. Not that the Caster segments weren't fine, he certainly had some amusing little discussions with his master. But everything wither with Rider is just that much better, heck, he even understands the importance of CO-OP. Hell, he even told Saber what's up.

So this episode kind of ended up as I imagined it would, which is fine I suppose. I can't really expect them to do anything else.

Ah well, roll on April.

Mirai Nikki 12: Best episode of Mirai Nikki yet. Tons of tension, great action, stuff actually happened.
Poor Kurusu-san. One thing I cannot ignore though is that they just decided to ignore that Yukkiteru shot a freaking detective. I don't care that it was just a misunderstanding and he survived, he should be facing jail time for that.

So guys, I just finished Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shirana.

I am this close to crying actual man tears.

Nothing wrong with crying man. AnoHana didn't quite hit me like that (still thought the show was great, screw the haters and there are a ton of soulless folks in here as you've already noticed) but I needed an entire box of tissues getting through a good chunk of Clannad AS.

Maybe if SHAFT hadn't spent all the production budget on the OP sequence then that music number wouldn't have been so ugly.
Why would you spend money on anything else?

That part was a little stupidly overwrought, but I started and finished the entire series today and really liked it as an overall package.
Well it certainly was popular in Japan and other places. Not so much in this thread, and it's not as if most of us watching it were going in wanting to hate it. I was not personally impressed with the direction it took after the first few episodes, or the rather pointless, extended plot detours in an 11-episode anime.

Meh. If I particularly needed my opinions on media reinforced by other people, I wouldn't be watching anime in the first place.

Oh I know, I just think some people are a bit surprised at how animegaf reacts to certain opinions. Not exactly the most welcoming bunch which makes quite a few posters afraid to come in here.

I can definitely see why people wouldn't like it. There's a very good chance I would be in that group given a different context to watch it in.

I'm not going to go off half-cocked and recommend it to everybody I meet, but I finished it having been happier I watched it.

If your name is Nonoriri you have to go buy Nanami's tampons.
My unbiased, critical and in-depth review of AnoHana:

Well at least it wasn't ugly.

You really are too reasonable for this forum.

I was actually planning on watching Ano Hana. Is the main issue with it that it has way too much pointless melodrama?

I would actually put that third on my list, behind the complete lack of adequate character development for most of the cast, and the extended plot detour in the second act that leads to nothing. But hey it has decent animation and music and stuff. Your mileage may vary.

You will never be accepted into the anime clique without taking a fanatical position on unimportant matters like Japanese cartoons.
Keep on fighting the good fight!

Animegaf is a vicious bunch that hates the show, so you might be in for a few hate filled posts. Just a warning.

Er, I don't think I'd really go that far. Lots of people liked the beginning of that series, just not the direction it went. People tend to be more passionate about things they like which then turn into something they dislike.

Understatement of the year.

If you like that kind of show then you'll probably like it. A lot of people go into shows like Ano Hana having a predisposition as to whether or not they'll enjoy it. I thought Ano Hana was great but I get why people don't like it.

You should recommend it to folks who would be interested. It was an enjoyable series.

Ultimately the show doesn't develop its characters into people you care about, relying primarily on one flashback instead of properly fleshing out their early childhood relationships, getting involved with too many subplots that didn't lead anywhere, and getting bogged down in dumb romantic drama. I was disappointed with the show after being happy with how it started. It had a concept that could have gone somewhere, but didn't know what to do with it.

Of course, lots and lots of anime fans like it, and it has nice production values, so there's some value to checking it out as long as you keep your expectations low.

I actually enjoy Ano Hana's style of melodrama in general; it just wasn't well executed in this particular case. Clannad does it better.

No one watched the show wanting to dislike it. The only time I did that was with Angel Beats because it was an experience of shared suffering and I wanted to see how stupid it became.

Melodrama doesn't bother me honestly, I like some Key shows, so that's not my reason for not really liking how Ano Hana turned out.

I think many were turned off at the poor writing(particularly in the 2nd half), and the lack of meaningful character development/background for most of the cast. At least I was anyway. If you look back at the spring thread, the show had a pretty large following here until the mid and later stages of the show. I thought it closed well in the last episode, but I wasn't particularly happy with the show.

Bullshit. I went into Ano Hana with the predisposition of liking it with some reservations towards the premise, and I ended up disliking it otherwise!

This is true to!

I don't know, pretty much everyone who enters this thread looking for recommendations gets a list of things to watch that hopefully they'll enjoy, regardless of what things they've admitted to liking because chances are, someone here likes those shows as well.

Ano Hana had many issues with its writing, but having plot holes wasn't actually one of them; Every thread it started, it pretty much ended.
