In your particular game, what really happened was 1. bottom lane was severely outplayed, feeding their carries, and 2. top lane was severely outlaned. The best move you guys could have made was to either have tide come top and just let bottom fall, OR to rotate your lanes and let CM and Antimage go mid. Lich Huskar is such a tough lane, it's better if you guys just put someone who doesn't need gold up there like Tide if you aren't going to do a lane that can beat it.

I understand trying to put down wards for NS ganks, but twenty minutes in and it's already second night. Get your boots!

If I hadn't tried to roam so hard to save the lanes and focused on getting a little more farm for maybe a fast pkey it might have helped us, but I don't know if lion is the kind of mid that can bail you out of a situation like that. Might have had a chance on dp if I huge riced early and got a fast tower when ns left.

i think Bloodseeker is my main. I got 10 wins 3 losses with him, i love it when people run when you ulti them.

The best is when you ulti them from full HP and they die, cause they don't know how the ulti works lol.

I am just super salty right now I don't mean anything by it.

But how salty will you be when Syllabear gets added?
Not at all.

I've never had a problem with him in DOTA or HoN, and I don't expect to in DOTA 2.

Most people can't even micro their own heroes, let alone a bear.

That is true. He is pretty micro intensive.

I wonder what hero will hurt AM in the meta game more when he is released - Lycan or Shadow Demon?

I'm assuming OD hurts him the most.

Someone explain to me what's so scary about Lycan.

As far as I can tell he has remained unchanged since I last played, which was like, 6.5x or something. And he was never much of a threat back then (in pubs anyway).

Oh god ganking AM is impossible in some pubs.

It depends on the hero setup. A team should always have someone with a disable skill and never let hard carry heroes like AM farm freely. This way you'll have no trouble ganking AM, you just have to plan it properly and keep an eye on him during the game.

Guys, I hope it's okay to ask this here but:

I just crafted Dota 2 with 7 coals BUT I can't play the game for the next 4 weeks so do you think we'll see a full release by then? I'm thinking of gifting it to a friend who could put it to better use than I.

Doubtful. The rumor is that open beta is February and final release is who knows when (after that).

What's another support class people recommend? Or any class really.

I love Lich, but to my understanding, getting a better handle on Dota requires you to try all the classes right?

Dazzle, Vengeful Spirit, Omniknight are all pretty good supports to play. Everyone seems to recommend CM but it's imo harder to have success with than the 3 above. Sure you're always giving that aura, but she's fragile and has a terrible attack animation from my experience. Ofc give it a go sooner or later, it's quite an important hero after all.

True, problem is most players I've played with decides to outcarry AM instead. Had a situation today where everyone was all over the map, farming. We could've won if we played for an early win but most want to lvl up.

So in the end, got beat by Omniknight, AM, and a Dazzler+Huskar combo badly.

and that awesome guide got him to buy mechanism first when he cant even last hit or ward
terrible idea
its like bringing an obese person to a marathon and telling everyone "dont worry guys i showed him the right technique"

At least he has an excuses why he did poorly, he had a shitty build and didn't know how to ward. We are acting like we are better than him and still did poorly in that game. The end score was 7-34, not like few wards would have turned the tide of battle. He didn't even feed without boots, he had the least deaths from all of us.

Just to touch on the AM thing. I just hope all the other heroes come soon enough. Though luckely a lot of people picking AM on pubs are terrible and if you have a semi organized team you can gank him easily enough.
There is still heroes I "fear" more in pubs that just aren't in Dota 2 yet.

Easy for a well trained team with communication down pat. In most pubs? lol one disable isnt gonna stop AM. AM is also one of the hardest carries to stop free farming in pubs. Between TP/blink/Bfury you usually cant stop him.

Venge, Dazzle, Lion, CM are all relatively straightforward and also cover different abilities of support character that Lich wont cover.

Just watch out for CM's horrible attack animation. Definitely hard to last hit with.

At the moment I play random. I absolutely /loathe/ getting AM, Void, or any other late game carry. Because one of two things happen:

1) The rest of the team is awful/enemy team is amazing. I can't safely farm, and am useless in team fights.

2) The team is good/on equal standing with the enemy team. I farm for 30 minutes, heavy as a truck and proceed to 1v5 enemy team.

Both are extremely boring. I hate playing such hard carries, because you feel useless for most of the game and then don't even get to make big plays like an SK or ES or TH would. All you do is blink in, (ult if you're FV), turn on your bkb, right click to win.

Randomed a Pudge during a MM game with some friends last night. Thankfully two of the enemy ragequit after giving up first blood. /crisis averted oh god

When I'm playing with people I know are new, I tend to pick carries because that gives us the best shot at winning. When I play with people who are better than I am, they play the carries because that gives us the best chance of winning. Ultimately for almost all team comps, the burden of winning the game rests with the carry.

I'm guessing have 2-3 carries on a team isn't viable? in LoL (derp) you have AD ranged carry, AP mid carry, solo top is usually a carry or sometimes a tank, and even jungler can carry, so that's like 3-4 carries.

In LoL everyone is a carry.

Also I wish people who're bad at the game wouldn't random, or at least do it first so we can pick around them.

naw 3 carry strat is fun.

a carry in each lane, you can't gank them all.

should try it sometime.

Hey, I'm all for getting Mek quickly. Which is why you let Sand King (the boss) get the Drum. One of the best items he can get imo, but you have to consider if a quick Blink is more urgent.

Great games tonight, Hugoboss, Knives, Corky and whoever the Venge player was. Some damn tight plays :D

Yeah GGs that was ridonkulous, first time in a long time I won a game >_<

For one, you will never use Agi outside of when you are healing, admit it. Unless you are an Agi Carry, but then this entire thing is a bit moot.

So, you have the option of changing from +8 Strength to +8 Int on the spot, or having +3 Strength, +6 Int , and +6 Agi permanently.

i swap between Str and Int all the time with VS and Sven and other heroes

Cotdamn, this is why I love Captain's Mode. I'm guessing your team didn't want to stock up on teamfight badasses to counter all that sustain (ie Tidehunter, Earthshaker, Sand King, Enigma, Lich, Shadow Shaman, Witch Doctor)?

Problem was everyone was all over the map. So they picked us out one by one.

Yeah, that sounds like a recipe for disaster. It can be difficult enough to do small-scale ganks against a team with an Omniknight or Dazzle (let alone both), failing to group up and ensuring that people are cut down is asking for trouble.

Yeah I fantasized of CM matchmaking but then I figured out how a good team composition would immediately turn to shit when xXx1337pwnaxXx didn't click his carryhero fast enough and had to play shit like support/pusher.

thats why that scruby would play AP :]

Gaf should play more Commander's Mode when they inhouse, it's rather enjoyable when you get enough people interested in drafting and talking over your bans and picks (Speaking of, lukems! When are Bungie going to play some more CM?! That shit was fun.).

Sorry Raxus/Haly for last night. I was completely out of it and couldn't really concentrate. And then the game where I was venomancer my internet went out -_-

Sorry, I don't want to waste a ban on Pudge.

HEY WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN
