The votes of general movie-watchers are not a good way to judge anything.
Neither are the votes of anime fans.

Which one? There were like three different versions.
Just finished watching Aliens in it's entirety for the first time in years, same with Alien, which I watched yesterday.
Aliens >>>> Alien is all I can say.
Disagree.
I picked up both after listening to you guys in this thread. Alien was awesome and tense. I wasn't feeling Aliens all that much, especially watching it right after Alien. Maybe if I watch it a 2nd time I'll get a better feel for it.
The one with the space monks on the wooden planet.
Queen to Bishop 6. Check.
It was certainly more interesting than the retreads of Aliens they had planned. I rolled my eyes at all the crappy talk of uniting the colonies to engage in this big epic war with the aliens.this one sounded like the dumbest idea of all of them.
The one with the space monks on the wooden planet.
I read the script of the one with the space monks on the wooden planet and can confirm that it was much better than what they ended up filming.
this one sounded like the dumbest idea of all of them.
Can you post that here? I'd love to read it.
Never read a script before, but I guess this is a good a time as ever.
Better than space prison. At the very least, we would have gotten some cool imagery.
i'm just trying to wrap my head around the idea of a wooden planet.
why does the suits in this film looks way more advanced and toyish than the ones in Alien?
... Is this real?
I just read:
"The Alien draws itself up to its full height --
Even wounded it is one dangerous mother fucker."
It's only wooden on the inside. It was an artificial planet.
see this is what i thought. i still don't get it. wouldn't a wooden planet need some sort of... core or something to create gravity? did they just carve the planet out of some huge avatar tree? do they have a gravity generator, and wouldn't that defeat the purpose of living without technology or whatever?
i can at least understand space prison, especially since there was continent prison in real life.
Can someone please explain to me why all James Cameron films of the era look like they're shot on video, rather than film? I'm watching it on blu ray right now and it looks like a high-budget TV show rather than something intended for cinema.
I have the exact same problem with T2. It's especially jarring coming off of Alien.
Super35 maybe? Can someone please explain to me why all James Cameron films of the era look like they're shot on video, rather than film? I'm watching it on blu ray right now and it looks like a high-budget TV show rather than something intended for cinema.

Don't worry, you're normal.

Aliens 3 is actually my favourite Alien movie too.
Come at me.

do you like Twilight as well?
This is crazy talk. The Alien movies' greatness goes directly in order of releases. 1 being best, and 4 utter shit. This is pure science here, guys. C'mon.
Aliens 3 is actually my favourite Alien movie too.
Come at me.
Yup. It will be pure fanwank for the Alien crowd, but also a stand alone movie on its own.
Still, you need to remedy that soon. Grab the first two, maybe three Alien movies ASAP.
I have the first two on Blu, but I haven't had the chance to see them. I tend to only watch movies with friends, but they're being assholes and don't want to watch them.
I enjoy the Alien 3 Extended Cut more than Aliens.
I know that feel.
Scary movies are best watched alone at midnight with the lights off.I have the first two on Blu, but I haven't had the chance to see them. I tend to only watch movies with friends, but they're being assholes and don't want to watch them.

Same here. I've always liked it and seen it more then the others. There's something about that stark claustrophobic environment and gunless. Terrifying.

I kinda feel the same.
