Ignore the misery-guts. I cried like a complete baby when I got Terranigma at Christmas when I was 11. Mainly because the game only came out 6 days before Christmas and there were no stores anywhere near me that would have sold it, let alone even stocked it.

There I was, months upon months of reading up about it in magazines, thinking I'd end up getting it for my birthday the next year when it'd went down in price and was more readily available.

There's the kid that thinks perhaps his family could never get him something that he really wanted, but they somehow get it for him anyway and he gets excited/cries about that. Nothing wrong with that, your family is willing to go to great lengths to make you happy etc.

Then there's the kid that is obsessed with keeping up with their friends and acquiring 'status' items such as an iphone and when things don't go exactly the way they want they throw a tantrum, they're just as likely to cry when it does go the way they want. Emotional investments happen for the wrong reasons all the time at that age. Those are the ones with fucked up priorities.
