FYI there's a rumor that Madden 13 will mark the return of Madden to the PC. The rumor was just some random topics in the Madden forum at easports.com so it's probably not true buttttttttt we'll see.

It would probably be equivalent to Tiger 12 on PC. Just a shit house freemium game.

The pool of videos available in the app is significantly diminished.

I couldn't watch a YouTube link because it was specifically blocked on mobile devices. Think a song was in the video that was banned on mobile devices. Don't really understand that one, fine to use on a laptop/desktop but no dice on a mobile phone/tablet.

By the way it wasn't a YouTube vid, it was embedded and I needed to right click on it. Whatever, I'll get to it when I get on a real pc.

Don't mean to derail, but outside of reading/browsing and the occasional vid I'm just not sure I'd use this more than a laptop.

Earlier in the year I read a very well done piece on off man coverage and how it may be the start of a new trend.

Theory goes that you're rerouting receivers just by being in front of them, can slow them down with proper technique/hip control.

Playing off man allows you to disguise your coverages better, especially blitzes. If the secondary is virtually at a standstill and not declaring press it's hard to figure out if it's man or zone.

You have to rely on you corners properly paring QB drop with the corresponding routes. So with a 1 or 3 step drop, you're only going to defend a couple of routes like a quick hitch, quick out, slant or drag. It's now up to the corner to decipher information, where is the receiver split and whats the most probable route based on the drop.

There were a bunch of Packer cutups associated with the piece, strictly off man coverages and they did a good job conveying the idea behind off man techniques. It really worked, but in the situations were it didn't, it was usually the safety jumping an underneath route, it really didn't burn them in the clips I watched however because the blitzes got home.

Revis is a great press corner, but he's pretty incredible in off man situations. Guy is just smart, recognizes routes on a drop pretty easily. There's a vid of him doing it in practice, fun to watch.

I would post but I'm on an iPad and I loathe the fucking thing, how does anyone get anything done on this thing.
What do they do in the case of a slant or drag? Are they instructed to shade the inside more heavily? Playing off I foresee corners running through receivers trying to bat the ball down or just flat out getting burned.

Dark Souls in on the 360. Multiplat games are gawdawful on the PS3 as a rule. MLB and Valkyria Chronicles.....make my owning a PS3 well worth it. Also, MLB.tv

Unless the 360 can play Uncharted or God of war and have free online. I am more than happy with PS3. Like the other guy all the good multi is via steam PC.

I would like to read that article when you have the chance later to find it, sounds interesting.

Wouldn't that be the natural counter to off man? Most of the short completions i've seen against Revis are of this variety.

Truth is I only want to play a couple: Demons/Dark Souls, Valkryia Chronicles, The Show, and have a machine for Madden (though apparently everybody has the 360 version)

Mulitplatform stuff I'll just get for PC like usual.

Traded in the Wii (hadn't been used in more than a year) and a shit ton of games for enough credit to pick up PS3, extra controller and some games.

I'm looking forward to hitting God of War III, Uncharted, Resistance, Infamous and Ratchet & Clank (always a fun series full of crazy guns).

I think they just try to play with horizontal leverage, back out with a slow trot and mirror horizontally, but one bad step or misread and double move is going by them. No doubt, the 3 step game is the toughest to defend. You can shorten the cushion but you risk giving up something over the top.

You really need smart corners, with great short area quickness and agility who are sound tacklers. But like you said the slant can cause havoc. My guess would be that slants are usually run by outside receivers, slot/y receivers may be split tighter to the line which may increase the chance of a knock down, so you may be able to cheat inside more.

Guess your DL would really have to be on their toes as well, read the drop and get those hands up on 3 steps or less.

I will, it's interesting and gives you a different perspective.

Hey Bears fans I heard that the Bears might cut Briggs at the end of the season. You guys think that is likely? I would love to see the Eagles pick him up.

Uhhh what? Why would the Bears cut one of the best linebackers in the NFL? If he is unhappy with his contract and the Bears refuse to give him more money they will just trade him. Curious what the Bears could get out of him.

I'm hesitant to pull the trigger on a new system mostly because I just flat out don't have time for videogames half the time. Every game I play on the Wii is a long drag out game (Monster Hunter, Rune Factory Frontier and Skyward Sword) and I bought a shit load of PC games last year and haven't sat down to play even half of them. Once I get home from work my daughter takes all of the spare time I have, which isn't much. That's why I got the 3DS in the first place; at least I can play that on the go.

Anyway, livejournal over.

Yeah that's why I am asking. It's not that Fitz and Matt Moore were trying to get over on Revis, it's that they had big guys in Stevie and Marshall that can box out Revis on slants and drags. I'm lucky to be in the NY market and can watch Revis every time out, but it's clear that WRs with size running those specific routes are his weakness. The Giants had Nicks running those routes but he never used his body to shield Revis nor did he ever go get the ball before it got to him. Hopefully he learns with age.

Thanks. I'm sure being in the NY area as well you saw some of the Jets/Giants game last week. Moose or whoever was announcing made it a point to call out that the Giants were coached on batting down the ball at the LOS. They did a pretty good job of it and it's a great counterpoint considering the Schotty/Slants pic.

Yeah, I remember making a similar point before the Giant/Bills game, how the short game can netrualize the pass rush. It's really worked for the Bills, kept sacks down and may be the lowest amount given up by the Bills in 30 years. As the season wore on though Fitz kept getting more and more balls batted down, really frustrating.

OL has to engage and control of DLs frame. Early in the year a few posters made a big deal about cut blocking, how it should be banned. If you ban cut blocking it's even harder to get the quick game going. Have to get the DL to drop their hands, especially DEs. Saw it on Sunday night, Bears back missed the cut, led to an int.

Constant give and take, one counter leads to another, such is the game.

Lions have no excuse to miss the playoffs next year barring injury. Here is their schedule:

NFC North + STL, SEA, HOU, IND, ATL; Away: NFC North + ARI, SF, JAX, TEN and Sunday's NYG/DAL loser

Honestly, no reason they should not win 12 or 13 games with that schedule.

Where ate the pics for guys

Are you speaking in some sort of code?

Damn all Texans defensive players getting paid in beer.

Briggs isn't getting cut. He is on the down side of his contract now so this is why he wants a new deal. Already got most of the money up front.

The money does make him tradable, however. The contract terms are really good.

Edit: Next year is AFC South and NFC West for the NFC North? NFC North getting 3 playoff teams in confirmed.

Flynn is playing to get the Packers a jackpot of picks, and to get paid. Works for all parties. At worst, he continues to be a quality backup to Rodgers.
I think it's smart to play Flynn 80% of the game but surprised Rodgers won't get a drive or two.

Hopefully MM has learned from the Arizona game should the Packers play the Kittens in the playoffs.

I don't game as much as I used to, but I hit up Sony's free month of PSN+ and I've become addicted as fuck to these Marvel Pinball tables over the holidays. I fear I've become a casual gamer, oh no! As far as multi plats on PS3 go, so far this gen I've played Red Dead + Undead Nightmare, Dirt 3, Blur, Shift 2, Mortal Kombat and LA Noir and I've pretty much had a blast with each. God of War, Wipeout, Uncharted and GT5 were the main reasons I went with PS3, and all are great, well, GT5 has been a bit of let down though. Bought a sweet laptop about a year ago with the idea of gaming on it, and I've got to say, not feeling PC gaming anymore. Steam is friggen awesome, but more often than not, I don't play the stuff I've downloaded on it. Still have yet to install the Witcher and Arkham Asylum sits at like 17% complete.

I don't think anything is going to save their job now. The Glazers have to know that fan support will plummet if they retain this coaching staff.
Probably, but who the fuck knows with these idiots.
If I see "Buccaneers announce Greg Olson is their new head coach" on TV, I'll probably smash the damn thing in a blind rage.
Would be a shame, my TV's pretty nice.

Had my first experience with loopy gas today.

Apparently said some crazy shit, including Apple should be invaded by eight million hedgehogs, wardrobes are funny with green Tabasco sauce, and I claimed that Alex Smith was a great QB.

I've only missed watching 1 Bucs game since 1991. Sick, hungover, travelling, I always have made sure to watch the Bucs game if it is the only thing I planed for the entire week. At one point in 1999 I was hitchhiking across the country and hitting sports bars in whatever city I was in on Sunday.

But if they keep either one of those idiots I wont watch again until they are gone. I don't even care if they come out in the season with a golden horseshoe up their ass and start winning games, I still wont watch. They are both incompetent and no amount of lucky wins is going to change my opinion of them.
