Who are you going to put him up against? Cheik Kongo? Stephen Struve? Pat Barry? He won't beat any top HW. Dude is toast and he won't be a draw if he's not fighting relevant fights.

Really don't think he wants to fight irrelevant fights either. Why fight joke fights and get hurt/embarrassed in the process a la crocop?

He'll only look worse and worse unless you feed him cans like Fedor, and "BROCK VS CAN" isn't going to sell PPVs anymore. There's no way Brock can beat a top 5 (maybe top 10) heavyweight.

They could have probably eeked another 2 PPV's or so out of him without him winning. Third fight with Mir would have probably been next. The guy can win on pure size alone against low weight fighters, that's basically what his career has been made on. I mean Rashad vs. Davis and Aldo vs. Mendes are the two next shows, they could have fit him on somewhere.

My only problem with Brock tonight is that he didn't look like Brock---not that he is JUST a berserker, but that seems to be when he is at his best. Tonight, he was fighting calm, cool and reserved. In one way, I'm impressed (unless you think he was reserved for fear of getting hit), but in another way I'm disappointed that Brock got beat while not being Brock. Does that make any sense, or am I bat shit crazy?

Beserker Brock got destroyed by Cain. I'm not surprised he tried something different.

Wrong opponent to try it against though.

Overeem was so smart, aim for the surgery spot, no mercy. See Brock crumple after that shin to the liver? My ass he's healed. Diverticulitis ain't that free. Good shit.

I think Lesnar liked the idea of fighting and the status it brings to be recognised as a UFC fighter but at the end of the day he is not a natural when it comes to this kind of stuff.

He's a big powerful guy who little technique, composure and has probably one of the worst poker faces when dealing with hits I have ever seen. He always looks flustered when you see him fight and makes terrible decisions leaving himself open to shots.

Tonight he didn't even attempt a proper takedown despite the big build up about his wrestling. Sure he tried a weak single but there was no real desire or effort from Brock to take the fight to the ground. He seems to worry about what his opponents will do rather than concentrating on his own game and taking the fight where he has the biggest chance of winning.

For me Lesnar is happy his UFC career is over and he can get back to looking after his family and shooting deer. Decent win for Overeem but I still don't think we have seen him in there with anyone who poses a threat. JDS should be interesting.

I doubt the surgery had anything to do with it. Brock cowered from Cain the same way. Those knees probably would have buckled Brock even if he were completely healthy (which he probably was anyway). Knees to the sternum are no joke from a guy like Reem.

Are we going to have to wait at least 6 months for Overeem vs JDS since Overeem's got those tests to do? Going to suck if there's like only one HW champ fight in 2012.

i havent been paying much attention to lesnar, how bad was his illnesses?

On October 26, 2009, it was announced that Lesnar had pulled out of the UFC 106 card in which he was set to face Shane Carwin for the UFC Heavyweight Championship due to an illness. UFC President Dana White said that Brock had been ill for three weeks, claiming he had never been this sick in his life and that it would take him a while to recover; his fight with Carwin was rescheduled for UFC 108 in early 2010.[92] Lesnar initially sought treatment in Canada, but later told reporters that he had received "Third World treatment" from malfunctioning equipment at a hospital in Brandon, Manitoba, and that seeking better medical treatment in the United States saved his life. Lesnar, who describes himself as a conservative and a supporter of the US Republican Party, went on to criticize Canadian-style health care further and said that he shared his experience in an effort to speak "on the behalf of the doctors in the United States that don't want health care reform to happen and neither do I."[93]

On November 4, it was confirmed that Lesnar was suffering from mononucleosis and that his bout with Carwin would have to wait a bit longer, thus the fight for UFC 108 was cancelled.[94] On November 14 at the UFC 105 post-fight conference, Dana stated, "He's not well and he's not going to be getting well anytime soon." and that an interim title match might need to be set up.[95] In addition to mononucleosis, it was revealed that Lesnar was suffering from a serious case of diverticulitis, an intestinal disorder, which would require surgery.[96] After further diagnosis, on November 16 Lesnar underwent surgery to close a perforation in his intestine that had been leaking fecal matter into his abdomen, causing pain, abscesses, and overtaxing his immune system to the point that he contracted mononucleosis. From the level of damage to Lesnar's system, the surgeon estimated that the intestinal condition had been ongoing for around a year.[97]

yeah, he took a couple vicous knees that could take the wind out of anyone.

His illness likely makes training more difficult and he might feel the effects after the fight, but it's proabably the last thing he's thinking about/feeling once he's in a fight.

Overeem hit him with some jabs and he didn't run or cover up. It was the first knee to the midsection that caused him to start covering up and then that liver kick was brutal. Overeem's shins are probably the same as getting hit by a 2 by 4. And Brock got hit with that in the liver.

I don't think those kicks were anywhere near the sternum. Definitely lower around the liver. Not that it's any better. Reminds me of Bas Rutten, brings a tear to my eye.

quick thoughts;

- fitch, ahahahahha. good luck ever seeing a title fight again.

- cowboy, what the fuck was that? never fight mad again, you fight like shit! god, i'm so mad at you!

- diaz, you have successfully aped your big brothers style. thats a good thing, as you are no longer a one dimensional submission guy.

- brock, :(

- overeem, welcome to the ufc. JDS has nothing for you, take the belt now.

- yaco, nice avatar dude.

Did Brock bang your mom or something? Damn, buddy.

Brock has tuned up his kickboxing training with Pat Barry and it was pretty noticeable on how relaxed he kind of looked, but dude still reacts badly to getting hit. No matter how much he trains, his reaction to hits has always been bad and Overeem took advantage of the fact.

Brock also avoided takedowns early on because dude was fearing that knee from Overeem.

Overeem demolished him like I thought he would with knee's. JDS won't know what hit him when the time when the Demolition Man goes up against him.

Dream NYE's event will be airing on HDnet in about 15 minutes.

I said it in the Wrasslin' thread, Cerrone incepted himself, he planted and harbored hateful thoughts towards Diaz who could not have any fucks to give. The middlefinger before the match started was the nail in the coffin you could see how pissed he was and it ruined him.

Just got back. Some thoughts.

I fucking missed that Hendricks KO due to an disturbance. But was sick, one nice hit to the jaw.

FUck the Nate haters, or should I say Diaz brothers haters. Dude put a clinic up tonight. Don't think I've seen such nice boxing in a long time.

And my dude Overeem. I am so glad he's in the UFC where he truly belongs. That kick to the stomach was gruesome. He's going to get that belt, bet on it.

I truly do like The Reem, but I don't think he has better MMA striking than JDS. Junior will just outspeed him. Reem isn't exactly a swift striker.

I agree that JDS is a big threat. That will be an explosive fight, but no way is Overeem a hype job. I think he's lost to guys better than JDS has ever fought.

Was something about Overeem's demeanour tonight. He's always cool but just got a feeling he feels at home in the UFC and knows that if he wins that title he is going to be a star.

go take a look at JDS's record. Shell of Crocop, Carwin, and Cain are his best victories. HW aint that deep.

Cain is probably better than most of Reem's wins at HW. JDS beat the rising star version of Werdum in a much more impressive fashion than Reem did.

I don't think he's a hype job. But I don't think he has anything for JDS. A lucky clinched knee, at most.
