Anyway, I'm to bed. Good night, Real Pic gaf. I had better see more Mexi-gaf representing and glasses gaf dominating aviator gaf when I peruse this thread with my morning coffee. ^_-

More sudden Mexi-gaf would cause catastrophic reactions to the gaf ecosystem. I say we stay patient and slip by unnoticed, then *BAM* take their jerbs. Night!

Do you ever get harassed because of it? I'm on the other side of the gender line, but I can't imagine wearing such an open symbol of your religion would bring out people's inner-tolerance. One bad experience would be all it takes to get me to never wear one again.

If you don't feel comfortable answering that here, you can take it to PMs or just ignore me for asking derpserious questions. :O

Nah this is not so personal to me. And no thankfully I have never been harassed for it. What's actually funny though is that I get harassed from Yemeni men who think I'm wearing too little or "too flashy" lol.

When my mom first came here though she lived in Tennessee, and she said they were pretty racist there so she never wore the hijab. But when my parents moved to New York she still didn't wear it. It was only after she noticed that there were so many Muslim women that wore hijabs that she started to feel embarrassed and picked up on wearing it again haha

Glasses GAF representing! Besides the whole actually wearing glasses in my avatar thing. That would be silly!

Oh, hey, I'm from Tennessee. Haven't lived there for around twelve years, but it's still my home state.

Though now that you say that, it makes me start to slowly realize why I've never seen my mom wear a hijab. She had a career as a real estate agent and in that part of the country, I don't think society would have been kind to her if she wore one.

I was in high school when 9/11 happened and even though I was going through my whole agnostic phase with regard to religion, I still got the crap beaten out of me for being muslim. Thinking back on it, even though I was a teenager, I probably had no idea the full breadth of how scary it could be to be the wrong skin color at the wrong place back then.

In an Arabic Yemeni dialect? I can almost hear their lines if so.

Haha wow really? They lived in either Cookeville or Murfreesboro... I forgot DX

Yeah thankfully I never encountered any racism after 9/11 (I live in NYC too). I'll admit maybe I've gotten some looks, but no one has ever done or said anything to me. I know people who have though, this one girl I know had someone spit on her on the day of the 10th anniversary ;/

Omg, you already know! hahaha

Awesome thread, might join after the New Year. Kisaya reminds me of my homegirl in Brownsville, Brooklyn.

o.o I'm from Brooklyn ... do I know you?
Not from Brownsville thou haha

I just realized, wouldn't it be awkward if we actually recognized someone here? A few of my friends lurk neogaf and it's already embarrassing for them to read my posts hahah.

Aaaaand with that, I'm off to bed! Happy new years everyone!

Great, now I want to post really carefully from now on. Even though if they see someone named Billychu there's a good chance it's me.

Also, does it make me a creeper for actually remembering someone's username because it had a pretty face next to it?

I guess I might as well join in for a bit... but probably only for a day. I feel terribly embarrassed, and you can't even really see me in this picture!

I'm kidding. My older avatar is happy, too :) So I'm not lying <3

EDIT: Excuse me, I'm no one's bitch! If anything, people are my bitches.
What a nice ex-couple.

I'm not sure anyone's dumb enough to be your bitch. But then again, you are an unsavory individual, so you'd probably know someone like that.

Lots of hair and lots of clothes :o
For a moment there, I almost confused you with the grass. There's lots of that in there, too.

haha, I was wondering what this thread was about. Would be the first time I've changed my avatar in quite a while.

OK, pic for me:

Lissar and Inanna finally joined in!

Also, I have the strangest urge to redo my avatar so I'm doing the pose Agumon was doing before. But that could very well be the lack of sleep talking.
