Real Pic January!

I think I like it cause it's like THIS IS A FACE. YOU SEE NOTHING ELSE.

And if it's a pretty face it just stands out more. Or something. I don't get it either.

Yeah that's how I always saw it!
My hair has always been sorta annoying to take care of so it was much easier to just have a scarf on it. But when you stylize it I guess it gets a bit more annoying again...hahah

Is your hijab leopard print?

It's making me think of the leopard print blazer I'm buying from my work tomorrow

So can you just ignore your hair because it's covered? A lot of girls are probably sort of jealous.

No we can do whatever we want with it ;o There are a lot of parties that I go to that are women only, and all the girls do stuff with their hair. Just recently I had my hair cut and stylized for a wedding that day ;p

*can't believe I'm posting in this creepy thread, I'm getting drawn in :(*

Come on over! Where were you thinking? If it's anywhere other thank the UK then this convo is over!

Hehe, it's either UK or France that I want to go to. I'll see where life takes me! :)

Don't even think you can say my name- KITTY! :3
.

I'm just going to leave this here for you ;)

Are there people whose appearance or decision to show a pic surprised you?

Are there any people whose absence surprises you?

While I've already seen Devo's pics many times, the switch to binocular mode was pleasantly hilarious. Other than that, I think only Shan really surprised me, but that's only because I had nearly convinced myself that she was actually like her avatar and in bed all the time.

I like this month. Makes GAF seem like more of a family
besides the creepers
.

My mom never wore a hijab (except for during prayer), so when I did see women wearing them, I always thought it was kind of strange.

You can tell the women that wear them with confidence, though, because they look pretty badass.

Yeah I know a lot of women who just wear it for prayer ;o It's sorta funny, I wear the scarf all the time but I hardly pray (well, for the holidays I do)... I'm terrible haha

I love how everyone's cats in here look like little angels. I wonder how long until I bust out videos of fractious cats from my work to spicen things up lol.
Cats just have really good PR.

Didn't France ban the hijab?

GET OUT! THERE BE CATS IN THESE WATERS!

Just explain that you have embraced NeoGAF as your religion. Believe.

Yeah, I pretty much only pray on Eid and, uh, I guess at family gatherings when I can't find an excuse to slip away.

I've made a "The Internet generation can not be expected to adhere to a prayer schedule" argument to my parents before, it did not take very well.

Would you feel comfortable visiting/moving to that country? Since you responded clearly you are aware of the attitudes prevailing in that country.

Not so much right now, but the world changes everyday so I'm just clinging on to that ;x

You're doing it wrong, sister!

I know, I'm terrible ._. My whole family is lazy so it rubbed off on me ...

Do I have to bear witness that there is only one God but Evilore? hahaha

Yup, I only pray during Eid and Ramadan. If visitors come or if I'm at some Islamic center then I pray too.
I have no excuses for my parents, cause they're lazy too. :/ We're all terrible.

Evilore is like the head honcho. And then the mods are all the other minor deities.

And one of them was cast down to walk the earth as a mortal lol

Church questions in the Bible Belt are awkward.

"What church do you go to?"
"Oh.... uh.... the one... down the street?"
"There are five churches down that street."
"Oh..."

Luckily my parents aren't very religious so they don't really care.

Most of my friends are atheists, and living in Georgia, so that gives ample opportunity to troll when asked what church they go to.

It's usually a "Oh, it's this nice youth-oriented service with guitars and stuff" that slowly slides in to what can only be described as subtle Nazism. They like to see when people choose to react.

I'm glad to see you still look like Prince.

Holy shit I didn't even notice his avatar changed!
It didn't change, I just shaved my goatee.

I wasn't trying to make you feel bad, but this is the first time I've seen someone so open about adopting the hijab due to tradition rather than a religious calling.

I leave for a few hours to watch the Lesnar v. Overeem fight at a bar and the thread blew up! Seein' a lot of Mexi-gaf (yay)!

i am indeed, though truthfully i'm half (other half is Romanian) i was born in Bucharest, but spent most of my life in Guadalajara.

maybe i should branch off and create Mexican-aviator GAF.

you're super gorgeous btw :3

:P That's my line to you. I've seen you in your FF outfit. RAOWWWW. ^_^ (Go, Mexi-gaf!)

Good to see this still going on, thought everyone would have sobered up by now.

Still a little weird though..

Nope. pretty drunk right now.

The self selection process involved in this interests me. It's impossible to do a proper statistical analysis, of course.

We have made a few notes as to eye wear, % of Mexican and man v. woman gaf. :p

P.S. As many have said, your pic is quite distinctive. I shall keep it for drawing purposes (am I part of creep gaf for this...?).

This is going to feel weird but here's one for MexiGaf

I'm in i guess, Mexi-Gaf checking in.

Yessssssssssss...

H.Protagonist is a girl?

I.... but...what....?

??? Well, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Everyone thinks I'm guy on forums, blogs, interviews and twitter. :P

I think taking away people's e-anonymity makes them act a lot more civil to be honest.

And showing people your face wouldn't have repercussions. People see your face every day when you're out and about.

The only downside I could see would be girl-GAF getting a metric fuckload of PMs.

I completely agree. Seeing an actual face v. avatar is very different. As for PMs, gaf has been very adult/civil. No problems there. :)

Man, this has to be the shittiest New Years in recent memory. Currently 8pm, cold as fuck, been raining all day, and I have no plans (yet) :(

I feel ya. I'll probably work tomorrow to fill in the time. Maybe i'll do it with a bottle of bubbles, though.

I think kitsune and shan are still up but yeah at this rate I'll be all alone as usual.

Your avatar keeps... evolving. I like it! And, I'm still here. I'll keep this 'til end of Jan unless creeper gaf gets weird.

I'd be more worried about Devo if I were you.

EDIT: To H.Protagonist.

Well, yeah. I'd assume you can see pretty well with those things.

Should I be worried? ;)

Damn. :lol

Is it weird I thought you were Mexican before you said that? My Mexi-sence is tingling.

What tipped you off? It was "bar," wasn't it... ;_;

Pokemon has forever ruined the images my mind conjures up when someone uses the word "evolving."

Then... her avatars... progressed! yes! They progressed! (O_o)/

It's okay, I know you didn't heh. I didn't really have that much of a religious calling or some sort when I decided to wear it. I was in 7th grade so at the time I didn't really care or understand why I would wear it. Later on I looked it up more and actually liked the whole idea and concept of wearing it, so I guess that motivated me to want to take care of how I wear it and represent myself.

Do you ever get harassed because of it? I'm on the other side of the gender line, but I can't imagine wearing such an open symbol of your religion would bring out people's inner-tolerance. One bad experience would be all it takes to get me to never wear one again.

If you don't feel comfortable answering that here, you can take it to PMs or just ignore me for asking derpserious questions. :O

It's nice to know personal discussions of religion can be kept to PMs while requests for me to BLIND MYSELF FOREVER are perfectly acceptable discussion in the thread.

Anyway, I'm to bed. Good night, Real Pic gaf. I had better see more Mexi-gaf representing and glasses gaf dominating aviator gaf when I peruse this thread with my morning coffee. ^_-
