"New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes "quit" on the team during the final two minutes of a season-ending loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, a team source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter."

What? Lol.

Any Lions fans coming in for the game? Gonna be tough to get a hotel room, with the national championship game coming up.

Team captain Santonio Holmes. You can't expect to get a full game out of a wide receiver when you're only paying him $50 million.

I'll be there in spirit!

Meaning I'll probably be drunk before the game starts

I know I will be, not sure what time will arrive at the dome for tailgating, but the beer will be flowing well before game. Gotta drink before to offset the price of dome beer.

ATL @ NYG The 2 most inconsistent teams in the playoffs.
PIT @ DEN Ben not 100% and no running game dooms the Steelers
CIN @ HOU This game will be really close but I dont think Kubiack trusts Yates enough for the Texans to win
DET @ NO Stafford is for real

LT don't give a fuck!

"There were guys in the huddle not happy with Santonio's demeanor throughout the game and in the two-minute drill," said Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson. "And they said something to him about it."

The team source told Schefter that Jets offensive tackle Wayne Hunter got into a shouting match with Holmes after the wide receiver said something the players resented in the huddle.

"It was definitely boiling" in the huddle, Tomlinson said. "Guys had had enough of it at that point."

According to Tomlinson, players said to Holmes, "C'mon, we still have a chance."

The Holmes blowup actually had been building. On the previous series, a veteran player sensed that Holmes wasn't into the game and told him to "go home," the team source told Cimini.

The same source said, "It's been boiling over all season."

Tomlinson criticized Holmes for his "demeanor, body language -- not really into the game, feeling like it's over, feeling sorry for himself. We were still in the game."

"It's tough for guys to follow a captain who behaves in that manner," Tomlinson said. "When you are a captain, guys are looking for you to lead by example, and you have to play your tail off to the last play."

ATL @ NYG Giants are hot.
PIT @ DEN Harrison banned permanently after he kills Tebow
CIN @ HOU Texans are on which quarterback now?
DET @ NO Not in the Superdome.

Great OP as usual. The Saints should play their backup QB next week if they want to win.

Bionic has quite an internal struggle this coming weekend. Do you root for your lord and savior Tebow, or do you root for a group of criminals and rapists?

I think the answer is clear.

LET'S GET IT ON!

Lions are going to roll the Saints. Then we will fuck up the Pack in Lambeau and sit back and tune into Green Bay radio as listen to their fans make a serious case that Flynn is the better QB (and really, who can argue with them, he holds the single game TD and yardage mark).

It will then all come down to the 49ers and pleated-pants Harbaugh as they avenge their earlier loss. Considering Akers proved in week 17 he is also the team's best passer, this is not a concern.

Lions 38 Saints 31
Lions 35 Packers 24
Lions 24 49ers 15

Detroit will have the lead at half time, then the Saints will put in their scout team and some lucky fans from the stands and route Detroitin half two.

You just got humiliated by the Packups! Your team is the hottest of the garbages. One and done for the decade. Return to irrelevance. Adios.

Matt Stafford is the new Barry Sanders. Compile worthless stats in worthless games that everyone knows they have no shot of winning. At least Sanders did it with class.

I'm sorry I left you off the list, you absolutely should have been called out by name. You can suck it too

While it's true that Ray Lewis reached up and pulled Flacco's tiny testicles down to hanging depth vs. the Steelers this year (twice!), the question remains: can Flacco win a critical playoff game or will he shit the bed?

I'm guessing he'll shit the bed at some point.

Edit: Oh, and a grudging congrats, Larry and the Flacco pizza guy, for winning the AFC North. I know you had a tough 2011, Larry, so I hope my bitter tears at losing twice to you criminals put some joy in your life.

Why would he root for the Lions?

Clearly bionic has a predilection for that sort of scum and filth, but let's be fair to him. He expects his criminals and rapists to put up a fight (that's half the fun, just ask Ben!) and win. The Lions don't fit that criteria when they lose to the Packers' practice squad.

Football season going by so fast. Yet, I don't want 18 games as it seems fairly perfect in that we're get meaning out of the season. Only 2 games had no playoff implications in week 17.
Hopefully some of the wildcard games are exciting.

What's not classy about Stafford? Just because he doesn't put on a pretend wrestling belt like a 2nd grader after a score?

Tebow is a mere prophet of Ben's greatness. A shame that SNL had to kill his ridiculous win streak though

Our bigger problem is Mendenhall went from fail to broken. Now we have Redman dropping the ball and Mewelde...well let's just say the Texans have three better RBs. Maybe 4, they usually have someone good on the practice squad.

Can Ryan Clark play next week if we make him use an O2 mask after every play?

Classless by association.

Suh seemed to like the belt. Of course, he also like stomp people, try to twist off their heads and drunkenly crash his car with a load of kids in the back seat so maybe that isn't such a positive.

Movin' dem goalposts.

You have completely ignored the fact that your team got humiliated by a bunch of backups with nothing to play for in a game that had they won, they would have had a shot to not get humiliated in New Orleans.

Also, Stafford is classless:

Signing vaginas. Pure class.

As always, nervous about the Steelers. This is the team that struggled to beat the Colts, Chiefs, Jags and Browns (twice!) this season. They also however demolished the Seahawks, Rams and Titans. Quality wins over the Pats and the Bengals (twice!).

In other words, they play to the level of their competition. Which might mean seeing Ben tuck the ball and run around Mile High a lot, being chased by Miller.

I still see a win, but I'll bet it will be an ugly-ass game, which is Steeler football.

The Giants have had this issue all season as well, playing up or down depending on who they're up against. I see them rising to the occasion against the Failcons.

NO is just tough to beat at home. The question is whether there are any records Brees wants to break in the postseason. If there are, then look out. If there aren't, then he'll lose interest and the Lions will have a shot.

I think the best matchup might be the Cin/Hou game. These teams played already, in Cincy, and Yates led a late comeback for the Texan win. Will Yates be rusty after handing the keys over to the Human Turnover Machine 5000 (Delolhomme)? I think Houston *should* squeak out a win, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Cincy escape with a late FG to steal it.

My favorite was Rex after the game pretending he didn't know why Stoned wasn't in the game. Whenever his offense is a complete failure he acts like all he does is coach the defense. And if that's really the case, then he needs to be fired.

All he does is coach defense. He doesn't touch the offense it's really sad. It's like Baltimore knew exactl what they ere doing when they didn't hire him

Despite sliding into the playoffs - Tebow's job is really not secure anymore despite what Fox and Elway may be saying now. If he has another performance like he has the last 3 weeks, Denver will probably be looking at the market for a QB again - much to the chagrin of some of their fans. Fortunately for Denver though, a lot of Broncos fans aren't necessary Tebow fans, and a lot of Tebow fans are supporting the Broncos solely because of Tebow. Elway has enough swagger built up in the city that as long as we get a solid replacement, Broncos fans will be able to accept it (especially with the way the last few weeks have gone), where-as Tebow fans who are now Broncos fan, just won't be Broncos fans anymore.

With all of that said, I still stand by the decision to pull Orton early in the season. Regardless of what was going on behind the scenes, Orton just wasn't winning.

And you have no idea what a vagina is.

I'm on an iPad, but it looks like jets players are cursing out media in locker room clean out. Rofl read @jennyventras for more. Omg

I cant believe we won the AFC North and got a bye week. This maybe our year.

ATL @ NYG- Cowardly Ryan v the best pass rushers in the nfl
PIT @ DEN- Bloodbath Incoming
CIN @ HOU- Rather Play Hou but cin will win
DET @ NO- Toss up thinking at least 80 points scored in this game but Brees will find a way

They're reporting the same thing on FAN.

I don't understand this, if you're a loud mouth all year and don't put up, deal with the consequences.

Tebow maybe had his worst game yesterday, he was simply awful. I love the dude but you just can't win many games that way, especially against good opponents.

Btw..what the hell is up with Quinn? I was really high on that dude (I think you can't blame anyone for not looking real impressive in Cleveland) but he can't even beat out Orton and Tebow for a starting job?

Or play anywhere else with all those bad/mediocre QB starting?

And who in the world named Holmes captain?

I agree for the most part. He will be the starter going into next year, but I don't think that guarantees much. I still have a nagging feeling that Elway has something up his sleeve. I could be very wrong, and Elway wants to develop Tebow further but I think they see him as a one season solution, not a long term option.

And you have no idea what a vagina is.

If all Clasless is doing is signing a stomach he wouldn't have made his buddy shield the proceedings.

I said Sanders was classy, not Rodgers. I don't care if the third best QB on the GB roster is classy.

Still no defense for your team getting humiliated yesterday. Enjoy your season for a few more days.

Anybody picking the Lions this weekend is crazy.

Under Cunningham, Detroit's defense actually got WORSE this year. Unbelievable. Just imagine what this team could do with a decent secondary.

Seriously--go look at the stats of each QB Detroit faced this year since about week 7. The vast majority had almost a career day against the secondary and the massively overrated DL gets no pressure.

Peter King listed this today:

Yards allowed last five games: 438, 425, 477, 367, 550

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/peter_king/01/01/week.17/index.html#ixzz1iJqQRhBJ

It's unthinkable that the guy will actually have a job next year. The game has clearly passed him by.

The game will be an offensive shootout, but Detroit won't stop Brees. He gets 6 TDs.

Saints -- 41
Detroit -- 27

Love seeing the JETS implode. Going to be fun to see what changes they make.
I hope they keep Schottenheimer just for the laughs.

Revis refuses to talk, uncharacteristic. Bart Scott yells at cameras, tells them to get out of his face. #nyj

Holmes is escorted out by Jets PR, also refuses to talk. #nyj

B. Scott did not talk, he said on way out on coming back was: "all I know is I got a guaranteed contract for $4 million" #nyj

Rex Ryan cried when addressing team this morning. Rex "pleaded" with players to be a team, said they must come back and build a team. #nyj

What a pathetic bunch of babies.

PICK TIME. (playoff edition)

Time to be serious. No jokes, mang!

HOU vs. CIN-Houston's missing too much. Jake Delhomme (although, he still has a pretty good playoff record) isn't the man to get it done for you in the clutch. TJ doesn't exactly inspire confidence either.
NO vs. DET-New Orleans wins a true shootout. But Brees' offense is better than Stafford's offense and New Orlean's defense is MUCH better than the Lions defense.
NYG vs. ATL-Eli will be able to pick apart Atlanta's porous defense. If Giants are able to generate the patented pass rush, this game won't be that close.
DEN vs. PIT-The AFC's best defense will limit the already limited Denver offense. Missing Mendy will hurt, but Redman should be able to carry the slack. Gimpy Ben should still be able to do enough to beat Tebow.

DISCLAIMER:These picks are the ramblings of a football-ignorant fool. If you take these to Vegas, YOU WILL LOSE MONEY, and it will be your fault for being a stupid ass, stupid ass.

Derrick Morgan said:
“I understand they want to get the game over with, but after they false started and they still went for 2, I was like, ‘Wow,’” he said. “That’s a slap in the face. But they botched the snap, so whatever.”

it never ceases to amaze me the ignorance of some NFL players.

I'm more of a Tebow fan than a Broncos fan. Without Tebow, and the will he/won't he performance, the defense is too hurt to really be a draw right now. I'm not going to want to watch a different mediocre quarterback in a John Fox "lull them to sleep" offense.

Sunday is going to be brutal. Tebow should be practicing short routes every day and his ability to search for the open man. Broncos offense is pretty much : rush rush deep pass to a receiver who isn't open. But on a team that views passing as a last resort, who really cares?

I'm always nervous when you play a team you already beat in the regular season. There's always that tendency to downplay them and for the other team to come out extra motivated. And Detroit definitely has the talent to keep pace offensively if Brees has an off day.

With that said I think the Saints still beat Detroit handidly.

Our offense has only been getting better as the season progressed and our defense is only giving up an avg of 18.8 ppg in the last 10 games and we have started to produce more and more critical turnovers as of late. Even if it ends up a shoot out I'd take brees over stafford every time and double that if it's in the dome in the playoffs.
