I have no idea what to expect from this Falcons-Giants game.
Same. Both teams provide matchup nightmares for one another. Atlanta is going to have to pick their poison in covering Cruz/Nicks and then you leave Manningham one on one who can also cause damage. If the Giants get Ballard back, that's one more target to account for and if the Falcons can't generate pressure, Eli will have a field day.

It's the same story for the Giants. The defense lives and dies on the pass rush. Julio Jones and Roddy White are a nightmarish combination. Add in Gonzales and the defensive line MUST put on the type of performance they've had over the past two weeks (11 sacks in two games). They have to get Ryan jumpy and scared even when the rush doesn't get home. I like that match up against the Falcons line but the Giants must stop the running game. They have to put the Falcons in passing mode.

Nemesis mentioned the home playoff record but I have a feeling that (for once) home field will actually be an advantage this time around. I've been watching Giants games since the 80's and last night was one of the most active/loud/hyped nights I've seen from the fans. This Sunday should be insane atmosphere.

Why would anyone want Bill Polian? He probably sealed his fate by making his son his successor. Good job by Irsay. That is probably now the clear #1 coaching oppurtunity

I wonder if this opens up Indy to Cowher? Ready made QB either way, whether it's Luck or Manning. Also whoever does come in won't carry the same loyalty to Peyton that the Polian's probably did.

My money is on Fisher. Played in the division so the experience is there. He can put together a solid defense and having the QB spot solidified (Manning or Luck) after the debacle with Young just makes a ton of sense.

Wikipedia is fast

Bill Polian is the former Vice Chairman of the Indianapolis Colts NFL team. He rose to league prominence as the General Manager of the Buffalo Bills, building a team that participated in four straight Super Bowls, losing each time. Following his stint in Buffalo, Polian went on to become the General Manager of the expansion Carolina Panthers, where his initial success in building what was arguably the most rapidly successful expansion team in NFL history led to his moving on to the Colts. He has won the NFL's Executive of the Year award 6 times (1988, 1991, 1995, 1996, 1999 and 2009).
Prior to Polian's tenure in Buffalo, he began his career in professional football with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Chicago Blitz of the United States Football League, before moving to the Canadian Football League, where he assembled Grey Cup winning teams with the Montreal Alouettes and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.[1] Early on in his career, he was a coach for the now defunct football team at the Trinity School in New York City.
Polian was fired from his position, along with his son ,Chris Polian, on January, 2, 2012

To nobody's surprise, looks to be:

Hammond, Mayock, Flanagan for CIN/HOU
Michaels, Collinsworth, Tafoya for DET/NO

If they fire the GM he's toast anyway, new guy will bring in his own man.

Polians a hall of famer, but it's probably time to retire or get a consulting gig.

He'd be a great right hand man to someone like Reid or Holmgren (get back on the sidelines, Mike!)

WTF. this is the Lions first playoff game in 12 years. stop acting like a virgin that just saw his first tit and settle down.
Ahh... I remember like it was yesterday.

I came home one day and to my surprise found my cousin shaving her back with the bathroom door half ajar.
We locked eyes and before I knew it we were locked in a warm embrace that seemed to last an eternity.

She purred like a walrus that night.

San Antonio Spurs of the NFL indeed.

Colts will be scary with a competent GM and a Top 5 QB.

No, I change it to a Brewers avatar in Spring. I just hate avatar bets because I associate you people with your avatars. When Welli and Frank had the same avatar it was basically the worst week ever. It's annoying.

Polian is mad power hungry. He wants total org control, including roster control. Not the kind of guy to come in and consult. And consult with what? He has a horrible track record in past few years with personnel decisions

Mentioned it last night, but here's the NFC East first place schedule:

The Giants will, of course, get the first-place schedule for 2012. What does that mean? Here is the lineup of the 10 games the Giants will play outside their division next season.

- vs. Green Bay

- @ San Francisco

- vs. New Orleans

- vs. Tampa Bay

- vs. Cleveland

- vs. Pittsburgh

- @ Atlanta

- @ Carolina

- @ Baltimore

- @ Cincinnati

Some twitter updates for Giants fans as well. I know he gets a ton of hate from the fans here for his play (which is uneven to say the least), but it's funny how Rolle is now a "Coughlin" guy.

TheBlueScreen Ralph Vacchiano
Rolle admitted last year he thought signing to play for Coughlin might've been a mistake. Now sounds like he wouldn't play for anyone else.

TheBlueScreen Ralph Vacchiano
Antrel Rolle opened up about Tom Coughlin today, calling him "one of the best men I've been around." Took talk of possible firing personal.

ebenezersamuel Ebenezer Samuel
I asked Mathias Kiwanuka what changed for Giants these last two games. He pointed to Antrel Rolle's practice tirade after Redskins loss.

MikeGarafolo Mike Garafolo
Rolle came around to Coughlin after some reflection and conversations with his mom and Deon Grant. Realizes he's not an "easy cookie." #nyg

At least all of that talk is good for something.

OUCH.............9-7 again...
Eh, don't know the state of this team if we get back to some semblance of healthy and remain that way nor do we know where some of those teams on the schedule will be. Basing it on this years performances though? Yeah, it's another tough schedule.

Getting the sense from interviews and Twitter that Spags is almost a lock to go back to Philly. Still lives there, wife owns and works at a hair salon (wtf?), and there aren't hard feelings over Minnesota thing.

yeah, assuming the lions were the best team we played this year

And even then you needed a grasp of final ditch with a gift of 5 yards from the refs. I cant even imagine what would happen to you guys in GB.

There is post right on this page showing the easiest schedule for SF of all the play off teams and Lions the hardest.

...are you saying the Packers "5th Stringers" are better than the Lions (I mean, obviously they are since they, ya know, beat your first teamers, but still...)? This seems like a dumb statement to make.
