Well there's also all this other command-line stuff that some channels make you go through... I can see why people might find it intimidating.

Yeah, Pratchett talk. He's by far my favourite author. I've read all the Discworld novels except Thud! - didn't have time to properly start it yet, damn.

I fear the fact that he may not be around long enough for me to see the man in person. Fuck that disease, seriously. He is such a brilliant man, but I suppose anyone can be brought low by such things.

Now he's only releasing like, 1.4 books a year.

Also a scene that is both hilarious and tragically true. The end of Hogfather is soo good.

I really think that in 50 years, he will be regarded on the same level as Hemingway or Twain.

Eh, most of that stuff is not required to know. Honestly, the things that are required are:

/join
/nick
/slap

Everything else is extraneous.

BTW, do we have an IRC chan set up?

you could probably get a following for one of those provided everyone in anime/manga gaf doesnt think it's vastly overated by now. Medabots....I feel your pain , though i was more of a Pokemon/digimon/beyblade/anything but medabots guy.

Ooh, sorta sounds like basic chatroom stuff. I think I remember using such commands waaayy long ago in this chatroom I used to go to (o.o maybe it was IRC...)

I don't know, every time I tried it I would see the channel full of people but no one would say anything, so I just assumed maybe I was doing something wrong ;x

That's the problem with a lot of IRC channels. people generally just idle and don't say anything. Basically, you have to find the right community.

Every forum I've ever been to has some IRC channel set up for it. I'm not enough of a die hard to be on IRC, I do like the idea of this thread though, it's similar to the junior threads where a bunch of members convene in one thread and shoot the shit. GAF is kind of weird in the sense that for most threads, it's just a bunch of regulars chiming in with their opinions but rarely interacting with one another.

Kisaya: I was checking out your tumblr, and you've got some really amazing art posted there. Is that just stuff you encounter by chance, or are there sites you check regularly to find kick ass art? (outside of DeviantArt obviously)

Most of anime GAF thinks Dragon Ball (OG) is pretty much one of the classic shonen works that helped define the genre. There just really isn't much interest in discussing new things here.

As for Medabots, there really isn't much of an audience. As someone who tries to follow the Japanese news and report it on a blog there isn't much in the way of traffic. Though the blog is young, so who knows maybe as the 3DS game comes closer to completion...

On that topic, I've been meaning to get back to the gym. Does anyone know what kind of knee brace to where while doing squats/leg press to avoid overworking it? I can't afford to injure it again.
 
Man, I need to find some of my new year's eve party pictures. We have some pretty amazing pictures of our buddy who fell asleep early.

Thanks ;D Besides the reblogs, the stuff I post on my own are usually what I find on several artists' blogs. Usually I look through my dashboard of what other people post and click on the artist credit link to see the other works they've done. I guess maybe you could say most are encountered by chance, but when I have nothing to do I search for artists and browse through their stuff and hopefully post a piece that I like :)
 
So... let's talk about us then! :P! An issue or something

The main issue in my life is that I start things up, all pumped up, and slowly forget about them. HAPPENS ALLLL THE TIME. I can barely finish things I start. Out of, say, 10 projects I begin, 1 comes out and maybe not as intended. Maybe 1 out of 50 does work out nicely but its such a horrible problem. I cannot concentrate on one thing for a long time or I just lose all interest in it. Damn, pisses me off to no end. Trust me I've tried but... damn =/

You should ask in the fitness thread. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=431741

But wraps are primarily to keep the joint warm and reduce injury that way. It won't stop you from overworking it. Avoid injury by good form, not lifting heavier than you can with good form, and not doing insane reps.
 
Beef, your avatar always makes me realize how much I miss the first few seasons of Digimon. I loved almost every single Digimon from Season 1 :P I even had a Digimon Tomagotchi.
