As stated above the main difference is that ugly seal around the screen that just doesn't seem to be there on the 800. It makes the 800's screen just sort of blend into the device itself. Looks waaaayyy better this way IMO over how the 900 looks.
To be fair though that's just how it looks currently (it could very easily still blend like the 800).... we will know more when you see them in person and can actually put it in your hands on it. Nokia has traditionally had excellent in your hand feel and there is usually a reason for the things they do. I am not going to pass judgement until I put my hands on one.

Even the leaked specs don't mention ffc. Nokia can't be that stupid, right? Oh wait, they already demonstrated that with the 800. If this thing doesn't have an ffc, I'm not recommending it to my wife. This might end up pushing her back to ios or android.

Terrible.
I mean, it's a nice attempt, but I'd never use it over TellMe and Siri is on another level, because it speaks more natural. Ziggy basically just reads the search results out loud* and even fails at that, when the text is too long (it just stops reading).

The recognition itself is pretty good (powered by Nuance), but the app and results are not really worth it.
* Yes, Siri does the same, but better.
I tried it, kinda fun. Not for serious use, but I had some funny/good answers.

No. I've had one for the past 5 years, and maybe used it thrice.
Maybe not now but if/when skype gets integrated it will be much more used. The biggest reason that stuff is not used much right now imo is everybody has their own app and there is no standard.
Skype has the best chance right now to become that standard (due to already having the largest userbase and things like the facebook video chat and kinect upgrade coming for the home and lync for work). If skype becomes that universal service that is just available everywhere you will see it get regular use (esp if it also becomes an option for telephone voice calls on all those devices). Somebody is going to bring it all together (and make tons of money in the process) we just don't know who yet.
Sure. My family uses both skype and facetime for video chatting with long distance friends and family all the time.

Not for me, my daughter, my son and the family that lives nowhere close to us and wants to see them grow up. It's more portable than lugging a laptop around, plus my daughter just grabs it and walks around the house showing grandma all her toys.
I can totally understand why some would never use it, but in my situation, its invaluable and I will not be buying a phone without it, especially with Skype coming.
edit: also, what's the argument for NOT including an FFC on a phone released in 2012? How often do we use the compass? Accelerometer? Gyroscope? And those things are on these phones regardless.

I can't even imagine wanting to see someone when I talk to them... and especially not vice versa. Video chat is not for me.

Engadget said there was an update on the way in the next couple days. So maybe that will make it not so completely crappy. Wanted me to click the damn button on almost everything.

Pretty much. It's silly to argue about the need of a FFC in 2012. It's a checkbox feature that needs to be there. Period.

My girlfriend and I live in separate cities across the country, and many times video chat is the only way we get to see each other for weeks/months at a time. Because of our schedules, it's pretty hard to arrange a time to sit at our computers and just talk. It would be great to be able to call and see each other sporadically throughout the day/week.

I'm getting quite frustrated with the amount of bugs in these apps. Baconit, for example, seems to be broken as well. I cant use the pinned tiles; it just crashes back to the home screen. Kik Messenger is buggered as well. Seriously considering an iPhone

- Live tile notification doesn't always work. This is fatal for an IM client and an issue I've encountered in Birdsong as well (the Twitter app)
- Opening to read a message in a conversation can crash the app and take you back to the home screen
- Sometimes you'll get a toast notification of the message you got and when you click on it to see the full message it doesn't even appear in the conversation unless you wait 10 seconds (even on Wifi).

There are only a few unlock tokens for chevron labs left. I only want to play around with someone elses stuff as i am a sucker for "homebrew" stuff and inofficial functions. So is there a place where I can find this kind of stuff, or would my unlock be wasted

No, you're right, its ugly. But that's the lower third of my start screen. The top is color-coordinated and pretty. The tweet it! icon is super ugly, that tile for the alarm is ugly as well (though very useful, since as soon as I press on it, the timer starts and I can easily keep track of my lunch hour). The Ebay live tiles show my two items currently for sale. The other ugly tile is a live tile for an academic trip I'm taking in a week and a half to Miami. I think Netflix and USA Today look good.
But yeah, besides having inferior functionality at times, a lot of 3rd party apps have ugly tile designs as well.

Ugly 3rd party app icons are not limited to Windows Phone 7. Unfortunately, they ARE bigger because of the tile size, so the horrible images get magnified.

I originally chose WP7 because it offered an experience similar to the iPhone, but going back I just find iOS to be incredibly sterile. The UI (and the price) is really the only reason why I'm sticking with Windows Phone instead of the iPhone, and it's the same reason why I'll be buying a Windows 8 tablet over the iPad.

So on the gaming side, I have to take back some criticisms I've had of WP7.
I've mentioned here, and other places, how annoyed I get that the WP7 versions of games get the shaft. No birthday update in Angry Birds, no pomegranate in Fruit Ninja, limited themes in Doodle Jump, etc.
Today I finally played with a Kindle Fire. I played with all 3 of those games. All three were identical in content to the WP7 versions.
Here I thought iOS and Android were getting special treatment. Nope, just iOS.
