Ask me about the GAF Notebook
They totally neutered the face of that device with the seal around the screen. =/
Pretty much agree. 800 looks waaaaayyy better.

will so use my cold hard cash and buy the 900 if in fact it works on t-mobile 3g bands. $30 monthly plan FTW.Pocketnow, who released the most recent Nokia Lumia 900 render, has shared some more information on the handset.
The device is apparently code-named Eloko, will have both AT&T 3G and also the T-Mobile AWS 1700 Mhz band, and come with 4.3-inch WVGA display, 512MB of RAM, eight-megapixel camera, and a large 1830mAh battery.
The handset will be around 12 mm thick.
Pocketnow notes the handset will ship globally, but will not in fact come with Mango. Hopefully this does not indicate that the OS update has been delayed.
We're expecting to fill in the final details in a few short days at CES, where Nokia has also been rumored to introduce another mid-range Windows Phone, the Lumia 719.
I hate the 2 logos instead of 1 but besides that there's not much difference.
As stated above the main difference is that ugly seal around the screen that just doesn't seem to be there on the 800. It makes the 800's screen just sort of blend into the device itself. Looks waaaayyy better this way IMO over how the 900 looks.
What's an FFC?
Even the leaked specs don't mention ffc. Nokia can't be that stupid, right? Oh wait, they already demonstrated that with the 800. If this thing doesn't have an ffc, I'm not recommending it to my wife. This might end up pushing her back to ios or android.
apparently the 900 will be pentaband. so here's hoping more carriers pick it upMost important thing for WP7 is more phones on carriers aside from AT&T.
Otherwise WP7 is dead.
Saw the "Ask Ziggy" app.

is a front facing camera really that big of a deal? I can't see myself ever using one, but maybe I'm becoming a luddite.

Sure. My family uses both skype and facetime for video chatting with long distance friends and family all the time.is a front facing camera really that big of a deal? I can't see myself ever using one, but maybe I'm becoming a luddite.
We need Skype definitely, but just for VOIP and messaging, holding your phone infront of your face to video call is just a bad experience for everyone.
Terrible.
I mean, it's a nice attempt, but I'd never use it over TellMe and Siri is on another level, because it speaks more natural. Ziggy basically just reads the search results out loud* and even fails at that, when the text is too long (it just stops reading).
e: lol
"Get the weather in New York City."
"I have something for you. Click the button above to see the search results."
The recognition itself is pretty good (powered by Nuance), but the app and results are not really worth it.
* Yes, Siri does the same, but better.
edit: also, what's the argument for NOT including an FFC on a phone released in 2012? How often do we use the compass? Accelerometer? Gyroscope? And those things are on these phones regardless.
However, it's certainly a checkbox that needs to be filled.
Pretty much. It's silly to argue about the need of a FFC in 2012. It's a checkbox feature that needs to be there. Period.
How else will one have an impromptu emcee session with your crew?
you will be missed.I'm getting quite frustrated with the amount of bugs in these apps. Baconit, for example, seems to be broken as well. I cant use the pinned tiles; it just crashes back to the home screen. Kik Messenger is buggered as well. Seriously considering an iPhone

I only started using Kik today, what's the problem with it?
3rd party apps are seriously lacking compared to the ios versions. But the few that try can be special. Like eBay:

Look, I know I promised I would be nice in here, and I am a man of my word, but that is just so ugly.![]()
Isn't there like a visual style guide for third parties to adhere to when it comes to live tiles?

There are only a few unlock tokens for chevron labs left. I only want to play around with someone elses stuff as i am a sucker for "homebrew" stuff and inofficial functions. So is there a place where I can find this kind of stuff, or would my unlock be wasted
I originally chose WP7 because it offered an experience similar to the iPhone, but going back I just find iOS to be incredibly sterile. The UI (and the price) is really the only reason why I'm sticking with Windows Phone instead of the iPhone, and it's the same reason why I'll be buying a Windows 8 tablet over the iPad.I'm getting quite frustrated with the amount of bugs in these apps.
