I am quite good at UC3 MP I don't think I'd be as good as I am if I had to use mouse and keyboard.

I tend to stay away from twitch shooters like CoD. BFBC2, MAG, KZ2 or 3rd person shooters like Uncharted MP are what I'm good at.

I only have a gaming PC and a PS3, no 360 so can't say anything about Halo or Gears.

I find that auto aim hinders my ability to do good in most games. I'm REALLY good at MAG and that game has no aim assist. I hate that in Uncharted MP if you're scoped in and shooting at people from a distance and someone else runs past them it switches targets and always makes me mess up. I wish most games on consoles had an option where you could turn it off.
Agreed one reason I always like BF and Black Ops on the 360. I don't like auto or sticky aim at all. It kills me that it's forced in reach.

I know what that's like. I am a first generation American and can barely speak to my family. Everyone on my dad's side speaks only Greek, and when they do I am at an almost complete loss.

I spent some time there when I was younger, but since leaving I've forgotten all but the very basics of the language.

Hahah I remember when I went out at Yemen, my cousins wouldn't let me speak English, cause they said people would charge us more if they found out I was a foreigner. So there was this one time when we went to get our hair done, and the lady asked me how I wanted it and I just stared at her and didn't respond. When my cousin came up to me to help, the hair dresser asked her if I was deaf LOL

My dad had a running joke going where he told my mother (who is Irish) that it was Greek tradition to kiss the toaster of each new house you entered as a guest. She kissed five toasters before catching on.

Listen dragonlife, I acacquiesced to your barbaric need to lick plates in private.

Don't make me used a Controller for TF2 as well.

You may as well strike me down here and now... with a Liberty Launcher.
Medic and Demo player, here. If anything, I'd take you down with the sticky launcher or my bonesaw. No innuendo intended, but it's funny how easy it is to sound dirty.

Needle gun.

Anyway, I had to uninstall TF2 :( I really need a new HDD. I'd have more room if I uninstalled L4D2 as well, but there's no way in hell. L4D2 <3<3<3

I understand what someone's saying to me in bengali but I have a difficult time responding.

This happens to me sometimes as well. I hear something in a different language, and I can piece together the meaning with context words, but when I try to say something in response it slips away. Like sand between my fingers.

I just finished AC:R, and currently playing Deus Ex using my DS3 controller.

I don't play online on PC because I obviously don't enjoy getting my arse handed to me by people using m/kb. :\ Besides most of my real life friends are on PSN.

Its really hard for me because I forget how to turn a word into masculine or feminine, or make it past tense of future tense. I just give up and respond in English and hope they understand haha

Oh man why am I waking up at 2pm?

All this Rech talk makes me want to take my 360 out of the closet, but then I'd have to pay for Xbox Live, so screw that.

We need a RP GAF TF2 meetup.

I don't own any ties and can't tie them.

Fun note about bangla: we use the same word for tomorrow and yesterday and the distinction is almost entirely context.

This confused the fuck out of me as a kid.

See, if one of my relatives asked me this, I'd just go "Oh, I'm doing fine."

I'm actually not sure how to romanize bangla because I've never needed to.

I don't know how to romanize either, I had to google the "proper" spelling. Some of my friends do it a lot on IMs and texts. So confusing and puts me in the same situation you have when communicating verbally.

The tomorrow/yesterday thing never confused me though. We always spoke Bangla at home and I actually had to take additional English classes since Bangla was my primary language till I was 5. I still have some of that accent come through when I talk.

I love stuff like this! I haven't been studying German for too long, but it also has a situation where morning and tomorrow is the same word. I have to wonder how that came about historically.

I made a run at learning arabic when I was a kid.

I can still recite surahs, and remember a bit of the alphabet, but I definitely can't speak conversationally.

I play with whatever is technically optimal for the genre. Sometimes that's KB/M (It is for many of the games I personally play, like Chess, Strategy games more generally, RTS, and FPS) sometimes it's Game pads (I feel they're best for platformers, but not for TPS as some have claimed here), sometimes it's the Wii Mote (this may actually be the best for TPS, but I haven't played enough Wii to know for sure), sometimes it's an arcade stick, a la Shmups.

But I am a very skill oriented gamer and I'm typically not playing to relax. I understand others just want to play with what they're comfortable with and accustomed to whether it's actually the best controller or not.

You'd think the wiimote would be the ultimate control option for TPS games, but it's been woefully underutilized.

Near the end of it I was getting burnt out, and but the ending got me so excited for more ass creed.

I can't do any den defenses because the first thing I did (which is the first thing I always do) is go after viewpoints/bases.

Yeah, when I was a young teen I actually learned to read arabic (already knew a bit how to speak) with a bunch of arab-american friends (or as they refer to themselves 'lebanese-american').

I was eventually able to read a full page, but holly shit now I can't even read a word. Totally forgot it all due to lack of use. I think (or hope) all I need is mum memory jogged up a bit and it'll all come back.

Also, on the topic of keyboard and mice vs controllers.. I can use both but prefer controllers, but I honestly feel like I look down on people who love 360 controllers. The asymmetry of it is just ugly and not right for human hands. Can you imagine a face like that? Very unattractive!

Yeah I went to a summer Islamic school a buncha times when I was a kid where I memorized some surahs and was able to write and sorta read Arabic (barely)... Other than that I can't speak at all lol

The asymmetry of the 360 controller is what makes it work. My only complaint is that the grip is too shallow, and forces me to squash my fingers against the back. With wireless controllers this is made worse with the battery pack.

Dualshocks feel like children's toys. Too light, too small. Not as bad as, say, a DS Lite, which I can't play for more than 10 minutes without my fingers turning numb. But nowhere near as comfortable as a 360 pad.

With m&k, I don't have to worry about my fingers getting cramped! Only carpal tunnel.

Same. I've got a bunch of different pads I can hook up to my PC depending on the game. I wish bluetooth things worked better on my computer though so I could use my Wiimote more often in Dolphin.

I think it'd be awesome if next gen you could use kb/m in consoles. I remember playing Red Faction 2 (I think it was 2) with my KB/M. Would be great for me because my consoles/tv is right next to my PC set up and would make first and third person shooters so much more enjoyable for me.

Regardless, my main point was that different values will produce different preferences. My primary reason for gaming is to challenge myself and/or to compete, and thus for me it's extremely important that I have the best possible controller at all times. For someone who just wants to relax and escape, then the controller choice might be close to irrelevant; they'll prefer whatever they're comfortable with, even if it's not technically optimal.

And both of those preferences are okay.

I hear this story alot from my cousins and other family members.

My parents made me learn how to read and write in Arabic so that I could finish reading the Quran asap, but they never bothered to actually teach me how to speak the language. Would probably come in real handy as a resume booster.

Please tell me you've played the Wii Trauma Center games.

Yeah the place itself was really bad and I never wanted to go. It was so hard for me because none of the teachers could speak English that well, and since most of the kids there could speak Arabic they did really well. Me on the other hand was always at the lower level and they pretty much shun you for it if you are of older age. Eventually I hated it to the point where I would cut classes and beg my parents not to send me there :/

I use mouse and keyboard for Skyrim despite the UI clearly being designed for controllers because first-person games are easier for me to play with a mouse.

I'm definitely more of the "I just want a good experience" type of gamer, so I'm not too picky about things of that nature; I'll choose what's easiest for me.
