For all who can't launch DOTA right now, follow these steps to sort it out...
Start steam go to settings (downloads + cloud) untick "Enable steam cloud synchronization for games which support it" shut down steam and wait for the exit now to clickable and click it.
open steam
Go explorer and go to your steam folder
Rename the folder "appcache" to what ever you want
shut down steam
and restart steam
Wait for the pictures of your games load. Could take 1 or more mins.
AGAIN untick "Enable steam cloud synchronization for games which support it"
Then you can play games.

For those of you having troubles launching Dota2.

kagete is so nice it hurts.
kag is so nice it makes me angry
Kag gets depressed and stops playing but he is the standout with Pillownight and would also give a nod to the twins Meeru & Azuki. I don't think I ever heard them rage out at any individual spouting abuse at people during games. Only negative thing was with them they would leave your games midgame to buy ketchup for the wife and that other thing, there was a thread about it.
I would rather play with a rager than someone who leaves the match midway through for a shitty reason
Meeru gets mad as fuck when he ganks a lane and you don't assist him with an initiation so he can come clean-up. Also gets perturbed when people call him bad, but he's not good at insults so anything he responds with sounds terrible.

Can confirm, attemped meeru insults were always hilarious

During the picking stage you may think you have a shit team, but once that am pick pops you know everything is going to be allright.

Unless it's me on AM.

Also I've been on and played against more than enough teams with AM to know he doesn't make or break a game.

Interesting picks here, including some we don't see picked too often: Omniknight (though he's a popular ban), Necrolyte, Batrider.

Dragon Knight seems to be getting a fair bit of popularity. Probably will only increase with the 6.73 changes? (dat ranged stun)

Well sure if your am actively avoids teamfights that would result in getting a double kill. At that point it's like am isn't even playing in your game though.

Why'd that Void wait so long to complete his Vanguard? He had money to buy back, sure, but why not try to avoid dying in the first place? (he could have completed it far back enough to replenish his BB money anyway)

Wow, lag :/ (only for tobiwan maybe?)

He wasn't buying a vanguard

He definitely built that, so the stout shield may have merely been a stopgap item in hindsight (being that 250 gold isn't all that much, especially for a hard carry).

Is it safe to say that today's update will include at least two hero's? I'm excited to jump back in tonight and play some games. There are still hero's I've never seen being used but I guess that must mean they are horrible.

Ye, the stout shield is pretty damn good, but do you know if he got it early or did he wait until he had the ring of healing to buy it?
Would be kinda weird to buy it that late...

I'm kinda scared by the risk of them adding the new items, will be kinda hard to adapt :D

He bought it early. Must've built the ring into a Perseverance, on the way to the Battle Fury.

Ok, then it was probably for laning, in my opinion it's nearly a must on both am and fv.
and I know that he bought the void stone as the last item to complete bfury.

Artainisix, HyunA, Freakinchair to name a few, my problem with Blackstar wasn't that he was a prick when we were losing, that's understandable, he was a prick even when we were winning, didn't understand why.

Why'd you play with Puppetyuber then!?

He's cool when he's not too busy being hypercritical , hence why we stopped playing together after IHL2.

Stout shield is such a good item that it's basically OP. It makes a melee carry un-harassable with auto attacks in the lane.

I'm also curious if this update will include the 6.73 changes. I just read over them, and they seem pretty cool.

I would die [1] if the 6.73 changes were patched in today. Screw Mad, Mad, Tornado Lad (he's still coming today), I want these buffs and AM nerfs!

[1] 60 second cooldown, I'll be fine.

Okay, just don't play inhouses then? problem solved. Someone's gonna be a prick because someone else on the team isn't doing their job. All there is to it. Play with 5 people in matchmaking that know what they're doing and (hopefully) there won't be the need to be a prick to anyone. Most good players are pricks anyways. I doubt you'll be able to find a nice person/good player. Everyone gets mad in DotA/HoN/LoL/RISE OF THE IMMORTALS

I'd say most pricks think they're good players.

Your almost as bad as Kag"sorry"ete. I don't think I've ever heard you rage and its mild at best (worst?). You need to get some more mad going before you need to apologize.

Really? Archie rages all the time :lol

Kag only gets mad when you question his item build ... for 40 minutes.

So what is the trick to playing AM besides "roll face on keyboard lolz". Because I've been trying to play him since I've heard everyone here complaining about him, and I suck with him. Every match I just get out zoned and out farmed early on. It takes me ~20 min just to get a vanguard. I'm decent with other carries like Bloodseeker, Bounty, Sniper, but with AM I just can't find the groove with him.

The spirit breaker texture looks like a giant ballsack.

That's my contribution to this discussion.

Uh, most, if not all good players are pricks. Sorry, but it's true.

How difficult is Ursa to play? I watched one guy (enemy team) slaughter everyone on my team and then some. We literally had to hope to find him alone and only killed him twice :lol

The team was bad though. We were all over the place and I was soloing top the whole match.

Edit: I should note that I was playing Lich :o

He's not a very complex hero, but he does have one glaring weakness, which is his kiteability. Since all his damage comes from not just auto attacks, but auto attacks on a single hero, you're very reliant on your teammates to lock people down (until you get blink dagger).

His Q does not really help with this at all, since the cast animation is so long people move out of melee range before you even stomp.

I play Ursa and do well with him. I don't know if it's the best route but I build a vlads early, then phase boots to help with chasing. After that I go vanguard and heart. Also make sure you are doing Roshan often, because he can solo him fairly early.

Earthshock is definitely useless without a Blink Dagger, and you can be easily chain stunned and focused without one as well. I'd go with Purge's advice on building him: Don't grab an early Vlad's Offering (weakens your laning and teamfight contributions early), get a Blink Dagger, don't try to steal an early Rosh. Not only is it risky, you'd cut so many corners to get there that any team that's paying attention will make you pay for it (and you may give up Roshan in turn).

ursa is a pub hero. without proper sight, he can jump on you and eat your dick and your balls to death. But you know he's coming, you just stun him immediately and kite him for days.

All the more reason to get him out NOW.

...

Also, yessss, sweet come back from what seemed like a guaranteed loss. I was ready to give up but I didn't 'cause I ain't no bitch, yo.

They had all of our outer towers down at like 17 minutes, it was AWFUL, but thanks to sweet antipush action from me (Venomancer) and Sand King, we held them back. Pretty much every team fight, I'd get as many wards down as possible, toss a Q or two, and then sacrifice myself with an ultimate so even though we lost a good deal teamfights, they were too damaged to keep pushing. SO GOOD.

Broodmother was a fucking problem, had an orchid in no time at all. Our mistake was sending sniper solo against her. Tsk tsk. FOR SHAME, US.

But our carries - Sniper, Bounty Hunter, Naix - were better than theirs and thanks to our antipush they farmed up more than enough so that we ended up winning. :D

You had a Sand King on your team and you sent Sniper in his stead? WHAT. Sandstorm and Caustic Finale, they're spider killers! All I'm guessing Sniper accomplished was poking Broodmother now and again when she emerged to last hit, with the occasional (and easily avoided) Shrapnel?

I agree, but I'm not the one who made that decision. U:

There won't be an update today as we're still gearing back up after the holidays.

Here are some highlights of next week's update for you too look forward to:

- Parity with the latest Dota update. This includes Stable/Current version switching, so tournaments will be able to run older versions of the game until they are ready to make the switch.
- Two Heroes will be making their return. One gets a real charge out of bashing heads. The other always has to get in the last word.
- 64 Spectators limit removed. An unlimited number of spectators can watch any live game.

:/

This isn't true, AT ALL. Every single one of the top players i've played with/against have been completely pleasant.

Maybe cause you know what your doing.

A noob like me gets in, asks one question and the cussing begins.

I still want to play this game but after 5 matches I am too intimidated to go back in.
