NFL 2011 Wild Card |OT| Where Everyone Is In Like Flynn

You know who's the worst? Michael Lombardi. Dude acts like he's the best judge of talent in the NFL, yet he's an unemployed GM. No one wants to hire you, yet I'm suppose to listen to you like you have cred? Fuck you and your fat face. Tell Bill Simmons to stop double fisting you and Dilfer like you're god's gift to NFL scouting.
Michael Lombardi is a pretty smug jerk for a guy who was in the Oakland front office.

The sad fact of all these analysts is that, if they were any good at their jobs, they'd still be working in front offices.

DAMN! Wade Philips is a freaking Defensive genius

Wow that is ridiculous. Did the Texans D change much at all personnel-wise from last year? I know they got Manning but that's all I know.

Here you go FMT, from Peter King's 2011 Awards:

DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

Von Miller

Outside linebacker, Broncos

This was the toughest call on the ballot because 49ers situational pass rusher Aldon Smith (14 sacks) came on late. But Miller, the second overall pick out of Texas A&M, was unstoppable before being slowed—just a bit—by torn ligaments in his right thumb late in the season.

If it's any consolation:

COACH OF THE YEAR

Jim Harbaugh

49ers

Coming to the Niners after a successful stint at Stanford, Harbaugh took a six-win team that, because of the lockout, he first met seven weeks before opening day and led them to 13 victories—in the process transforming a bottom-feeding offense into an effective unit that might be good enough to challenge for a Super Bowl berth.

And Matt Prater named AFC Special Teams player of the month:

Manning
Jonathan Joseph
JJ sWATT
Brooks Reed when Mario went down

I thought brooks reed was supposed to be garbage though? Everyone was talkin ish about packers-gaf taking him in the offseason mock draft!

didnt get to watch houston much this year really so im not sure if he's actually garbage lol

Oh yeah, I remember (s)Watt hitting 3 passes or so during the Thursday night game. haha

Watt had a hellacious game against the Colts but will be remembered for all the BS penalties he got.

Most draft guys said he had a great motor but was rough also what Wade stated. He played DE in college and people questioned how well he would play OLB in a 3-4

defense hog index?

http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/Articles/2_1135_Def._Hog_Index.html

ABOUT THE DEFENSIVE HOG INDEX

The Defensive Hog Index is our effort to quantify which team has the best defensive front in football. It's proven a huge indicator of success since we introduced it during the 2007 season: teams that are better in the DHI are 25-8 in the playoffs over that time, and the No. 1 team in DHI has won the Super Bowl twice (2007 Giants and 2008 Steelers).

This isn't rocket science, folks. The Defensive Hog Index simply looks at at each team in three major, easy-to-understand categories and ranks them by average in these categories.

The top defensive front is that which posts the highest average rating across the board. The Defensive Hog Index is based upon these criteria:

YPA – Yards Per Attempt. So simple, even you can understand it. This rates a defense's ability to stuff an opposing ground game.

NPP% – Negative Pass Plays, expressed as a percentage. This is how often an opponent's pass plays end in either a sack or interception. Defenses that get after the quarterback and overwhelm the opposing offensive line naturally force sacks and INTs. These negative pass plays are calculated as a percentage of attempts. So if a team foces two sacks and two INTs in 40 pass plays, their NPP% will be 10 percent (4/40).

3down% - Opposition success rate on third down. The lower the percentage, the higher the defensive success

Clearly, Houston was not as good passing the ball at the end of the year as it was in the middle of the season. But many teams would have simply disintegrated offensively without their top quarterback (See 2011 Colts for evidence).

Houston did not. In fact, the Cold, Hard Football Facts rank every team across the board in more than a dozen Quality Stats. We call it our Quality Stats Power Rankings. The Saints were No. 1 in 2009; they won the Super Bowl. The Packers were No. 1 in 2010, even though they had a humble 10-6 record; they, too, won the Super Bowl.

The Texans were No. 1 in our Quality Stats Power Rankings when Schaub went down. They're still No. 1 today.

I have the weirdest damn boner right now.

I guess I'm the last person in the world to learn this, but I had no idea the Falcons had never had back to back winning seasons until the current Smith-Ryan pairing. I can see why they are pretty defensive of their QB. That's a whole lot of crappy seasons. I would have thought Glanville to have put up a few

Rankin Smith was the worst owner you could imagine.

Having Arthur Blank who actually cares about the team and put competent people in the front office in a position to succeed is a huge difference.

I think Lombardi's rep is that he talks too much. Both to the press and to his bosses. He's got the Billick thing where he thinks he's smarter than everyone else and lets them know it. Whitlock had teased Simmons that Lombardi was leaking stuff to him while he was still with the Raiders

The Budster was pretty awful, but he had a knack for hiring very competent front office people and coaches. But he was just stupid cheap on dumb crap. He'd make his GM justify why they needed lights for the practice field instead of just practicing during the day, and then would have him calling around town trying to find the lowest bid

He thought nothing of making Warren Moon the highest paid player, but refused to spend any sort of money on assistants. Still better than Hugh Culverhouse!

Larry, if it's strictly sex you're after, then TAP DAT SHIT HARD. If you're actually contemplating going back to this gash, I hope you catch something. Come on, dude. I know you're a smart guy.

Football-related, the Lions suck, but I hope they take care of New Orleans so I can laugh maniacally as we eliminate them and Lions-GAF evacuates the forum en masse.

Except goldlion and Square. Where the fuck is Square, anyways? An upcoming wedding is no excuse to ditch out durIng the playoffs.

Not going anywhere. Especially not since I've stopped spending my weekends worrying about them and learned to love the Megatron.

Keyword being playoffs, with Fox. That has to hurt a bit.

Not at all.

I've always liked John Fox, I think he's a great head coach and an amazing defensive mind. He took us out of the dump as a franchise and to a Super Bowl in two years.
And he would've won it, too. Not his fault Kasay got the chickenshits at the worst possible time
. Fox had just outgrown his welcome here and it was time to go in a different direction, but I hold no ill will towards him. Can't say the same for Jeff Davidson, hate that motherfucker with a passion.

And it's not like he's exactly got a powerhouse in the West with Denver. They did back their asses into the playoffs.

Any of you guys playing SWTOR? It's fucking gooooooood

As somebody who has never played a MMO what is so good about it? I never played the Old Republic stuff (I've played Mass Effect and Dragon Age).I once saw somebody play Star Wars Galaxies. Is it just a lightsaber fest? Is it a Lucas-fied Star Wars?
