NFL 2011 Wild Card |OT| Where Everyone Is In Like Flynn

He has a good thing going there, dude should stay even if someone offers more.

Im thinking someone will overpay him to not only sway him but so the Texans wont even try to match. Who is the dumbass team that will do this?

Im looking at you Washington.....

Goodell and Kraft have ruined the nfl and are turning it into PAC-10 football. Defenses can't do anything and QB's get every fucking call there way its insane.

Hope every enjoys 66-63 games!

And with Nike taking over the uniforms it all comes together:

credit Goodell regime for no more force out rule and stricter interpretation of finishing a catch while going to the ground, although I believe that technically started a couple of years prior to goodell. Two rules for the opposite side that I can think of.

So since everyone is sure that this record will be beat easily.... Anyone down for an ban bet. If the record is passed next year I'm banned for a year. However takes this bet and the record is not passed is banned for a year.

Some of the better rushing teams are PAC-10 teams.

Meme needs to be Big-12, or we can just blame Leach/Humme.

I love me some defense, but who gives a shit? Good D's will still be good and the shitty ones will be shit.

I'm gunna keep linking this until you guys stop bitching:

The 7 seasons that more points were averaged all came before 1966.

The 2 things that really turned things to where it is today is the Brady Injury and Harrison's hit on Mohamed Massaquoi.

I'm not bitching...

but from 1991 to now, over a 3 point increase in average per team, that's significant. Not sure what you think that proves.

pre-super bowl era, a receiver wasn't down by contact, you had to actually keep him down on the ground. Passing was still new, it was a far different league.

I really think no contact after 5 yards is much more significant.

Well with RBs and their short careers, he should go wherever he can get the most guaranteed. But as far as being a system guy, I think he's more than that. He has two 70+ yard receiving TDs this year. The ZBS can make any back look good, but it takes a special back to do what Davis and Foster have done, vs what guys like Steve Slaton and Olandis Gary did.

I would hope he and the team could come to a mutually beneficial agreement. People dump on the Bears for not dealing with Forte, but they did offer him 4 yrs and $28 million. The reality is that a RB just isn't going to make much more than that, not matter how good he is

edit: Brady Quin taking some of the first team reps. Bet the farm on PITT. Tebow may suck, but he sucks less at running that unconventional offense than Quin does at running a normal one

As far as the rule and offense changes, the scoring is only a problem is the very specific case of teams with very good QBs. Average and bad offenses still score in the teens and twenties. But the rule changes have made elite QBs unstoppable. Teams shut down Montana by beating him to a pulp. Can't do that anymore

I can't see Shanahan spending a ton of money on a runningback. I think he buys into the hype that any RB can be great in his system.

Yeah you only post when the saints are doing well. Then you disappear like dirtbag and all the other saints fans when you start losing!

You don't post in here enough to make this a fair bet. :P

Could be worse, that Jonmlenan or whatever his name is showed up early in this thread after being a ghost all year. That's the guy that claimed that the Saints had one of the best run D's in the league when they won the SB.

For some reason, I seemed to score more in high school when I was less offensive. Or maybe it was because she was less defensive?

I didn't see the Colts racking up alot of run yardage against them in the SuperBowl. He has to be on to something!

And he would be absolutely right. Washington would not be a good choice for Foster because they don't have the hogs on the OL that Houston does. You know full well that he worked magic with his RBs out in Denver. I fucking love ZBS and wish the Giants would use it more often like when they had Tiki here. Problem is Bradshaw is undisciplined as fuck. I feel he'd be a perfect back for it.

Agreed. I don't think it is smart for any team to break the bank for a RB in this day and age regardless of scheme. They are just too injury-prone and interchangable.

Wes!

Who are we (Browns) taking with the #4 pick? I have no clue about the college ranks. I've just heard about Trent Richardson and this RGIII guy.

If RGIII is available and the Browns don't take him, they should just be contracted. He's reminiscent of Steve Young and the Browns need a QB badly.

I have a feeling the Texans will keep Foster. Or I hope so. I hope they don't let him walk and they try and trot Tate out there as a replacement or something. He's much more than a RB in this system, dude is great catching the ball as well.

@mech: no texans were named to the all pro team, some received votes though.

You think so?

I was thinking about this earlier today after reading the Grantland piece on the Texans run game, standard stuff but it got my brain churning. Would his production be similar on another team? System back or productive regardless?

I think he is very good, he shows great patience and vision when making his reads and hitting the holes. He makes people miss and breaks tackles and makes it look easy. I feel like he is a pretty special runner and often amazed when watching him. As to whether or not he could succeed under a different blocking scheme, I haven't a clue.

I hope they keep him after this year, i will be very upset of they let him go and keep tate.

I'm curious to know the justification behind the non-vote of Calvin Johnson as an all-pro this year. He was one vote short of unanimous.

They will give up both of their firsts for Matt Flynn which will cause RGIII to fall to the Redskins.

Or at least that is how it goes down in my wet dreams.

Buck and Aikman got the ATL-NYG game....

Eh, so much for playoffs, maybe next year Falcons-GAF

That shouldn't be a surprise. And also that should be a good thing for the Falcons, because Troy and Joe are probably so emotionally hurt that the Cowgirls didn't make the playoffs. They'll be nitpicking the Giants all day.

Also, seems like our RB coach didn't suffer fatal burns – but that doesn't mean much in the long run. Hopefully it's not too serious, but this is probably his last year as a coach. Sad :(

Pouncey not playing either? Blugh. So does that put...Essex back at center? I like him there much more than fucking Legursky, we need to cut that son of a bitch.

Quinn plays the first 59 mins, tebow closes the game out. And so it is that we see the birth of the first nfl closer

I've always sort of wondered why we never see anything like this. I know that's gonna get a lol out of you, but if you have a great down the field QB yet an awful redzone guy (this season, Ben fits this!), I wonder if a team would ever do this.

Cam Newton would be a killer red zone qb I think.

(Removing any notions of contract or roster or anything, just if you had a Cam Newton clone to put in or something)

I liked it when Pittsburgh used Kordell as an inside of ten yards goal line QB. Should have stuck with that longer.

A fucking Jets fan is bitching about Robert Kraft? Fuck that noise. Without Kraft there is no 2011-12 NFL season. Fucking Jets fans. smh

The 2004 Patriots mauled Colts receivers and got away with it to the point that they 'changed' the rules the next season. Blame it on that, not the Brady rule.

Huh, I don't remember that all too well. Was this when we got into the playoffs for the first time in a while? I remember Slash being a QB against the Pats in a playoff game and it not going so well.
