I don't think anything can supplant FFVI as my favorite Final Fantasy.

I mean, nostalgia wouldn't allow it in the first place, but that no FF has actually been better helps a ton.

I keep thinking I want this game, but my aversion to card based gameplay stays my hand.

I kind of hate card battle games, too, but....it's sort of like just having a large pool of attacks for the same party. The extent to which a "deck" matters in the game is only to when you want to do big spell attacks.

So the message I'm getting here is that I should really pick up TWEWY again.

I have a copy... just don't know what happened.

backlogs ;-;

I just started playing it after owning it forever. Hated it before but now I love it. Don't know what happened.

There have probably been more threads on GAF salivating over the DS's collection than for any other propriety gaming platform.

It is second in acclaim only to PC.

You can ruthlessly murder helpless Audinos for lots of exp. in Black and White.

Both handhelds this gen have had really great libraries.

If you like JRPGs then you need to get Trails in the Sky.

So if I've never played a Final Fantasy game before but hate grinding what's a good game to start with?

Yeah, I usually focus on Neku because that's where the most important battle lies, but if he's just dashing around or the enemy isn't a huge thread, you can focus on the partner.

For Shiki I almost never followed the prompts. I'd just hit left repeatedly on the D-Pad unless I was focusing on her. More often than you'd think, she'd still pull off attacks.
Thanks for the tip!

Aeana's been tweeting about that a lot and she loves it so I think I need to break down and get it.

Anyone in the mood for something traditional should look in to Dragon Quest V. Best of the series, in my opinion.

I think FFVIII is probably a good example of a game that I would not be able to play today.

When I was a kid with unlimited free time to grind out spells and wait for the story to get better, that was fine. These days, not so much.

Can play that game forever until I die, it's that good. Combat system is great, it has the best FF music, and the level of exploration given by the world map is unmatched by other 3d FF games. There are so many secret areas and locations you can just pass by without ever knowing about them it's not even funny. Out of all the FF games FFVIII is definitely top of my list in terms of replayability(3D FF's at least)

Of course if you don't have all the time in the world, it's hard to play it again. Usually save my epic RPG playing for the holidays.

FF games suck. All of them, specially 7.

Anyways. Happy Friday. It's been a long week for me. One of my bosses lost a sibling and went to the funeral yesterday. Feel bad but atleast the sibling ain't suffering anymore.

I had like four games on a PSP, and then the buttons on it stopped working and I never bothered with it again. I played Crisis Core (too much talking), God of War (not as good as on console), something else (obviously not good enough to remember), and Crush (really fantastic and something that would work incredibly well on the 3DS).

My current DS collection isn't huge either, but I've got way more enjoyment out of it:
N+
Chinatown Wars
Pokemon Pearl/White
TWEWY
Knights in the Nightmare
Okamiden
Super Scribblenauts

I cannot think of a JRPG with better writing, honestly. And I beat Tactics Ogre twice!

The DS version rocks! The voice acting and the FMVs are pretty nice and it's actually challenging and well balanced; thing that may not be said for many FFs~

The game insulted my intelligence. It's the only FF game I unreasonably and reasonably hate. I don't like FF6 either, but I can certainly see why it's loved. It just wasn't for me, though.

VI. It may be my rose-colored glasses, but I don't recall any grinding in that game and it's not as hard as IV or V.

It must require some grinding because I got near the end and then repeatedly got obliterated and gave up.

It's not an FF but Lost Odyssey deals with the grinding issue very elegantly.

Why is Minority Report not available to stream from anywhere?? It's not on Netflix, iTunes, or Amazon Instant.

I just settled for Mission Impossible, but man this is frustrating.

Damn those are some disenting opinions on Final Fantasy. Yikes. Nonetheless, gonna make a note to get FFVI and FFVII once I've finished my backlog.

That is terribly frustrating. I'm sorry. I have the DVD about five feet from me. :( Have you at least seen the film before?

I love both of these, but I must add Legend of Mana to that list. I know it's not popular, but it's amazing :o

I've always been a fan of the SaGa titles. The storybook style always appealed to me.

The Lunar titles are usually overlooked as well.

Legend of mana is simply epic...it's the best...period
Guys, thank you so much. I thought I was forever alone with Legend of Mana. I want to cry.

HNNNNNNNNNG!
Think you're using that wrong. You're giving me the wrong idea.

First she convinces us to wear ties, now she's getting us to buy more games.
I've been rocking ties and suspenders. Her convincing you guys to do the same is only to better human kind. Also, I'm a gaffer. I don't actually buy or play games.

I've been coming to GAF since the end of Dreamcast days, and I have to say this is probably one of the best threads on this board. :)

I need to find a good picture to join in.
And FFVI > rest of Final Fantasies. But XII comes closest.

My keikaku came to fruition. I say I'm using it right. :)

XSEED Marketing, indeed!

:D Marketing should pay me for all my voluntary enthusiasm about our games. I am the SECRET WEAPON.

As for RPGs, nothing will ever surpass the joy that is Suikoden 2. Paired with Suikoden 1 it is unmatched in my nostalgia tinged memories. FFVII was nice too, of course.

I had a pizza tonight.

Dominos

Double Decadence Base
BBQ Sauce
Ground Beef
Chicken
Meatballs
Chorizo Sausage
Pepperoni

I also ordered a 500ml tub of Ben and Jerrys Phish Food to eat later.

I only ever played FF6 but I really enjoyed it. 7 was too weird for me (future what?) and after that it was hard for me to put time into Rpg's. Growing up I was really into Dragon Warrior. *hides*
