Everyone on TV says he's such a smart guy, and that initial run in Denver he sure looked it, but since then it's been bad.

In his defense I'm not sure what could have been done with the Rams this year, but he definitely did a poor job in adapting to his personnel. In retrospect, I think he was trying to prove how clever he was, when what he needed to do was treat each possession as a chance to kill clock. Get a first down, that's another 1:30, and a successful drive

I'm sure he was smart, but he was terrible at personnel decisions. The mood in Dove Valley when he was there was entirely different than it is now and not in a positive way. From what I understand and has been beaten to death is that he is a great X's and O's guy, but can't relate with players and personnel. Plus he was a bit of an egomaniac from all of the stories.

The defense in that 6-0 start rarely gets any credit. They held teams to 11 points per game. Mike Nolan did a great job, but he and McD didn't see eye to eye, and Nolan skipped town.

the redskins defense is fine. it's not great, but the real problem was letting rex grossman drive at will. the first game was especially pathetic that way- grossman would throw a ball way over a receiver's head, but it would still be an easy completion because there were no DBs around to fight for the ball.

the seahawks game finished 36-25 and even if you take out the defensive score it's very obvious what the real problem was in that game. the defense was a fucking disgrace, particularly on the final drive where they assumed a play would be blown dead for offsides and proceeded to give up a TD as a result.

i do think that people are overrating the giants somewhat, but that's because they are overlooking how bad the defense is, not because they think the offense is better than it is.

The best announcers know when to speak and when to shut the hell up. Not every play needs a scream. Some of the biggest plays are best with no talk at all so the viewer can actually soak it in, or let the color commentator describe exactly what happened.

He unnecessarily goes to the same well time after time. He simply has nothing else.

My only problem is that he doesn't have an OFF button. It's non-stop YELLING for the entire duration of the game. It makes the hype moments GREAT, but those are few and far in between (they don't even necessarily happen every game). ALL THIS just gets unnecessary and annoying after a while.
