Better pacing than the first episode. I like how the current version is handling the early chapters of the manga, and I feel like I'm getting used to the art now. It hasn't really blown me away yet, but I'll be waiting to see how they handle a lot of stuff later on in the series.

Football categories aside, Japan's current National Team is actually quite good. They've been called the Barcelona of Asia (hyperbole included) due to their intricate passing play that's more grounded in comparison to Anglo-Saxon countries. Plus, many of their players are currently playing abroad, most notable the German Bundesliga. While Japan's conquest of the World Cup may still be decades away, they no longer are a pushover when it comes to the beautiful game.fkn vuvzuelas
I couldn't help but laugh at how skillful their star striker was against Brazilians.
Brazil, on the other hand, has been shite lately. They got an early exit of Copa América, self-imploded against an honestly not that good Netherlands in the World Cup, and have been trashed in friendlies during the past year against some of the other football world powers. Part of it has to do with the team going through a rejuvenation phase -they are putting almost all their hopes on Neymar, an eighteen year-old Santos' player who is quite skillful but lacks any kind of leadership qualities at the moment. Ironically, they look the strongest at the back line, which is composed of several veterans who play at the top clubs in Europe. Their style of play has been very European for the past few years because of that: they are a rigid team who rely heavily on speed instead of precision passing or attacking flamboyancy like the Brazils of yore.

I think Japan is called Zaku Japan or something this year. This is to differentiate from the World Cup winning female Nadeshiko Japan.
When they win, they'll turn into Sazabi Japan.

I remember randomly tuning in one of the World Cup's matches, and saw Japan playing and cheered for them. That was one of the few times I got excited for watching football.
Those things are not as bad as you might think. Depends on your perspectives.

Well sure, I'm sure there's some people who like sex with horses or, shudders, eating asparagus.
But to me I hate fans. I barely consider myself a fan of anything. Fans are crazy. The fact that these fans in particular happen to be girls does not outweigh the fact they're fans.
Conventions, anime conventions in particular are scary to me because they're a meeting place for said fans.
And cat ears, well cat ears are just kinda sad. It's true.
Not that I think breaking a fangirl would be the most involved game around but to then have them follow you around like an infatuated puppy? Now there's truly nothing good left.

Its not uncommon for chargers fans to get shanked when they go to oakland for example.

I'm not big on soccer myself, but I was still entertained. The character drama looks to be as important as the sport itself, so it's worth at least checking out.
