game is clearly fixed or heavily influenced prior to the start. That no-call on such a blatant hold confirms it for me. Goodell doesn't want the "thug" Lions to advance over wonderful family man Drew Brees & Co. If Suh isn't an asshole and doesn't stomp on that guy the Lions win this.

1. Blew the whistle on a sure-to-be fumble taint
2. Terrible spot on 3rd down that led to a TD
3. Blatant holding not called that leads to a TD

Did Goodell also rub Pierre Thomas with grease so no one on the lions could tackle him?

I bet the refs also screened the safety on that TD pass.

People blaming the refs but when how many times has Detriot whiffed on routine fundamental tackles throughout the game or flat out get beat in the secondary?

Sorry Lions fans :(

lions offense was fine but this is one of the worst tackling efforts i've seen in sometime. and it maybe the worst tackling effort i've ever seen in a playoff game

/snooze

They still had chances to play the game and score. The game didn't end on these plays. Bad breaks, sure, but they still had to play the game. You don't know what happens even if those calls are reversed.

How do we "not know what happens if those calls are reversed"? The fumble goes for a TD and the 3rd down spot leads to a punt. The only one where "we might not know what happens" is the missed holding call.

It's clear going into the off-season where the Lions' weakness lies, and it's in the 7 people not on the offensive line.

Lions have to go hard after good LBs and good DBs, get rid of the Eric Wrights that aren't doing the job and come back next year with a defense that actually has more teeth against these elite teams.

Seriously. Just leave Eric Wright in the middle of Lake Pontchartrain.

so you know the outcome of the game if those plays are reversed? If Lions get the scores on the fumble, the Saints don't run right down the field like they have most the game?

Get out of here with that shit. The Lions had plenty of chances. Bad calls are made every single game - they had plenty of time since all of this happened, and the game was close. They've blown everything since.

Do the Lions have any reason to suspect that they won't have a shot next year? Was a pretty huge year for the franchise regardless, no?

Yes.

Given the following:

- The NFC East is still a hot mess and this year's scenario could happen again next year
- Bears and Vikings are in rebuilding mode
- Panthers are really the only other team that's on the rise in the NFC

They'll have a shot. They need to get their defense together, though.
