Pride and Prejudice was a good book.
Most adaptations are horrible.
Most adaptations are horrible.
Which Pride and Prejudice?
And does Princess Bride count as a chick-flick? If so that's hands down the best.
So... who likes action movies?

4 hours of subtitles and I wanted more as soon as it ended.
All of the romance movies I like are depressing as hell. =/
I don't really know. Does 500 days of summer count? I love that.
Emo? Challenge accepted.
Fake-Edit: Oh well, that's the most emo look I could achieve in a few minutes ;( Looks more like someone on the verge of becoming a mass-murderer, though. But I guess that's pretty much the same as being emo.
My Girl?
What's everyone's favorite romance/chick flick? ;D
Mine is Pride and Prejudice <3~~

There is a 6 hour cut, but it has never been released.
One day...
I really love the book, but I only think the movie is okay (if we're talking about the same version. Keira Knightley?)
Otherwise, um... I don't watch many movies so I can't think of any blatant romance movies that I've enjoyed. I typically prefer comedy or cartoons I guess.
Looking through a list, I really liked Amélie. Oh, of course, can't forget The Princess Bride! Classic.
Hmm... I guess that's it.
I tend to become way more cuddly and affectionate when I'm drunk. I have some friends who are sad drunks. Nothing more awkward than trying to get a drunk person to stop crying.
Best: Crazy Stupid Love. It hits all the right notes.
Worst: The Notebook. Most contrived movie ever.
I haven't seen the movie but I hated the book. I couldn't understand Elizabeth at all.
The cat was the real villain in that movie.Alien is the best romance movie.
You hatin' on Jane Austen?I haven't seen the movie but I hated the book. I couldn't understand Elizabeth at all.
Amelie is pretty cute.
I liked Elizabeth as well - and well, she's not supposed to be perfect. She's just as much of an asshole as Darcy is really. But yeah I don't think you're ever supposed to thinks she married him after she realized how much money he had. I think that's why I like Jane Austen so much. Her heroines are usually extremely flawed. Probably why I liked Emma so much.Lissar said:I don't know if this is how you feel about her, but I've noticed a lot of people feel that once she realized how truly rich Darcy is, she decided to marry him, and that makes them hate her. But the way I feel about it is that she began to change her mind before that when she realized he wasn't all she thought he was. During a time when women in her position couldn't afford to wait around for someone she respected, she stood her ground. I rather like that about her.

It wasn't that she realized he had money. To me it was more like, "Oh, you're not the total tool I thought you were? I guess I'll love and marry you!" I really didn't get the feeling that she had been on the edge about him. It just seemed like she did a complete 180 about him in a single moment. It just bothered me when she's supposed to be the "smart, sensible" female in the book and she makes such a shallow, rash decision.
I really dislike most period romances, though.

Colin Firth version is the superior version. Still one of the best literary adaptations made.

Yeah that's what I heard. I really liked the movie adaption though so I'm afraid of watching the TV series![]()
Emo pics?
Keira Knightly version is still good, but the A&E/BBC co production with Colin Firth is the most accurate. And it is after that you will see why most women fantasize about Colin Firth.

And for the best chick flick (I feel bad calling this film that) is this:

I can understand that. I think there is definitely a "rushed" feeling to marriages back then, not just with this book. Back then relationships didn't stress as much "getting to know each other" as maybe they do now. Actually it's why I rage at fairy tales these days. In comparison Elizabeth had gobs of time to make a rational decision. Fairy tales are all, "I JUST SAW YOU BUT WE'RE GONNA GET MARRIED RIGHT NOW IT'S BABY MAKING TIME."
I envy you!..and those are the first 2 pages -.-
I guess I quit as long as I still can.
One of my GFs in college used to call me Lloyd and make me repeat lines from SAY ANYTHING. She insisted I looked like him.
I enjoy fairy tales in the same way I enjoy mythology. If you start ascribing real psychological motives to the characters it makes no sense. Just think about the characters as simpletons who are ruled by emotions and lust.
Really cute! made me smile.Fiiiiiiine >.>

Happy now? >.>
Do you suffer from Celebrity Look-Alike Disease?
I try to, but it depends on the fairy tale.
Speaking of fairy tales, I played as Rapunzel in 4th grade for a play. I had a loooooong yarn braid I stuck to my head (and I kept that thing for quite awhile too.) I remember absolutely all the boys didn't want to be my prince :< The boy I had a crush on ended up being the prince but he was rather unhappy about it.
Oh yeah, if we can count cartoons for favorite romance movie, then Beauty and the Beast (Disney version of course) would have to be my all time favorite.
Disney version of Sleeping Beauty was also pretty romantic.
Cinderella was a gold-digging bitch, though.
