How often does DotaGAF do IH games?

I'm headed back to my windows machine at school in a couple of days and I'll be alone in my apartment for 4 days...so much dota.

Throne iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

Fuck, that's how you push an advantage. Screw the rax and going for kills, JUST GET THE THRONE.

lol, it's really risky and only possible in a long game like that where dps is high, on that push they had to kill the equivalent of 3 towers (tier 4 with 30 armor) and the throne (about 3 rax)

Pretty often, there is usually random games tossed together every night.

This was the most fun game I've played so far:

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/613847325758219642/9B63A411D9BC1C7DD6A1E455335E72C28AC47D8E/

It had me (Lion) and VS on top lane versus Riki and Tiny. We harassed them so bad they hardly got an last hits, and when they tried to go on the offensive we stunned them to death. Also they didn't heal up enough when they should have, so a few times they were still in lane with 30% health and I just picked them off with an ult.

After that we won a big teamfight on the bottom lane and just 5-man pushed to victory.

Ag. isn't all that great on Lion and you should put some points into Mana Drain.

We were already starting to steamroll and the ult came in handy so far, so I figured I would go with the upgrade. As for no mana drain, that's how Purge did it in his Lion video so I was giving it a shot.

I think I heard the funniest thing from a non english speaking player
doesnt say anything all game, until 50 minutes in
his ultimate came off cooldown and he types "HAVE SPECIAL"
like his super meter in marvel vs capcom was filled or something

My mouse movements over an 80 minute game of Dota:

Went BKB on Witch Doctor to stop getting bursted down by Huskar/Puck/Lich/Tinkerer/Veno, but on the final push by the enemy by BKB just didn't go off. I used my buy back too soon also, for a double whamy of mistakes on my part. The Faceless Void/Slardar/Queen of Pain/Shadow Shamon on my team just couldn't hold off mega creeps in all lanes and a super fed Tinker.

Final Score Board:

Daw, the assists are cut off.

so, wait why did you post an xbox-hueg screencap of a match you lost?

Why do I have to win the game? It was a fun and enjoyable game, with a number of people doing oddball things, in which we nearly lost then nearly won then almost defended but then lost.

How did you lose when Huskar went 6-26?

We lost because we could not kill Tinker ever. We had to go 5 v 1 on him to ever kill him. He was Tanky and his Linken's Sphere made it hard to pin him down, since it would usually take a solid 45 second to actually kill him, upon which the team we wiped out would be back up.

Really, Veno and Tinker really did a number on us, Lich was also sending up into a world of hurt until he left 65 minutes in. Also, our Slardar was doing horrible for the bulk of the game.

Just buy a Medallion and the Linkens is worthless (until next patch at least), also you should be building a Pipe against that team.

I had expected Slardar to turn that Hood he got into a Pipe, never happened. Likely should of gotten the Medallion, but I decided not to (I think the reasoning at the time was that I wouldn't be able to buy back when I thought of buying it)

Anther option that I didn't think of at the time but would of been good would be an Urn. While I wouldn't have the burst Mana from Soul Ring (Soul Ring -> Mek is always a nice combo too), the urn charges would of likely be helpful for dealing with Tinker, and taking out the Linkens. Also, at that point I didn't need the extra HP regin and the 114 Health could of helped.

hey guys quick question, ive been playing mostly with sniper and i love him, but in one match i was getting trolled and yelled at for picking his q as his first skill, then i was getting yelled at for even using it in certain situations. i was told to save my mana for my ult even though i had mana potions and whatnot. i was going off a dotafire build that explanied to pick q first. is this wrong of me? or is there a better skill to start out with

His Q is really awful and is the worst skill in the game, their advice is right just get stats instead of leveling it up.

ok so i shoudnt put any points into it at all?, ive had a few situations where sand king would dust and i used his q right in the center and killed sand king a few times. i dont think its SO bad. just depends on the situation. but ill take the advice and see if it ups my game thanks

Shrapnel? Shrapnel is an extremely good skill and very underrated. Max it first -- the damage is decent but the slow is very nice and the real reason to get it. Great for harassing if you're mid with bottle, great for escaping, and great when someone comes in to help you gank.

yeah thats exactly how i was using it, but i was getting trolled so hard. so i just dont know :|

I can see how it would save you in some situations, but the vast majority of the time it's a minor annoyance. There's just no way a 30% small radius slow with long ass casting time is a good skill, the physical dot is almost a joke.

You know though, I do have a hard time siding with the trolls, it's not a good build but it isn't worthy of harassment either.

Hmm, the physical dot isn't a joke... it's 432 dmg over 8 seconds at level 4 with slow. But even more importantly its a great setup tool and allows sniper to gank much more effectively. It also can be cast at 1200 range which is awesome to prevent enemies from running away. It's also saved my ass more than a few times when running away. If you skip it early, and get headshot/stats instead I'd say you're missing out on its full effectiveness.

To say it's the worst spell in the game is an over exaggeration, it can easily push out lanes and net you money when you're going somewhere else, and I can think of many spells that are worse. Look at the way people play warlock.

Also to give a reference for the area/slow of the dot: it's the same area as SA's level 4 Cloud and has 30% ms slow over 8 seconds (5% more than Cloud and lasts 2 seconds longer)

Well, I can count the number of times someone's stood in the slow for eight seconds with one hand, and it includes the time I sat in it and I couldn't tell because it was ticking me down so slowly.

Think about what you're giving up though, 150ish hp, a similar ammount of mana, and the associated buffs from agility at the point where the hero needs it the most. You're also giving up an extra ulti or so every time you cast it.

You do make a good point though--warlock's slow is almost as bad, but is it worth skipping? It's still pretty strong in teamfights where you manage to hide and channel it, and a 80% slow is nothing to laugh at.

That was Dendi, and he did it with 800+ gpm. Also, i'm 2-0 with this build, and ended up with 550gpm+ both games. It's gimmicky, and it works, that build is fucking magical.

if dendi goes 5 battlefuries on doombringer, does that mean it's a good build, just because it's dendi? :P

I've been meaning to try that, it was on doombringer? Thought it was skeletonking, soon...soon. Need more details though, how did he skill it and did he skip boots entirely or just sell them for his 5th bf? I'm guessing he didn't skip boots entirely, but who knows.

You're forgetting that shrapnel is really good for pushing towers. But I would always get range on him first, just so I don't get caught too far out on the lane.

but I think sniper overall is a really shitty hero :p

It was 5 bf and 1 Rapier and he was using the courier to use his bkb swapping mid fights from what I heard, he lost the game I believe.

Even if he lost the fight, he won the man contest.

What, do you think it wastes to much time? Dropping all my Stat items makes it so the Tango Heals a larger portion of Health. That Clockwork/Tinker Combo was making me go though Consumables too fast, so my options were to play super passive or to try and get last hits and give them kills. I just waited till Viper and Lifestealer were ready to gank, and everything turned out OK.

Just had a horrible Dota 2 match. Was CM. Partnered up with a Dazzle. Went up against a Raigor and Weaver. I nova'd the Raigor, he was left with about half health, Dazzle and I start to chase, Raigor and Weaver fight back, Dazzle dies and Raigor escapes with a sliver of health. Dazzle immediately says "CM's bad" (screw you you're the one that died). Weaver's close by so I switch to attacking him. He escapes too so Dazzle of course says "really bad". Our Huskar leaves later because he couldn't get along with our NP. Our NP teleports over to help us gank Weaver and Raigor, and immediately leaves when Dazzle gets the kill (presumably because he's the kind of idiot that whines about KSing).

Yes I know it's a beta and Dota attracts assholes, but still.

But if you're dropping your stat stuff you're just going to get hurt more and end up spending more money on more consumables.

You missed like 5 waves of full xp from doing that

Uh, you pick them back up the moment you are done healing. See where I'm standing, unless someone ganked (And both you and I at the time could see where everyone was), there is no way I'm taking more damage where I'm standing. Do I have to sit out of lane for 30 seconds? Yeah, I do. But them getting free farm is better then then getting an easy Kill.

I would have died if I was anywhere near XP range.

I didn't even think of that.

I just bought another bracer :(
