The best is using it to drag an enemy in/out out of their base if they are close to the wall. If you want to be a real jack ass, you can make it vacuum them into unpathable terrain, and be stuck there till they get a TP scroll.

Oh, that reminds me of the game where Mila jumped onto the cliff above where the Radiant Ancients Spawn as PotM, and simply got stuck there. Eventually Bounty Hunter was able to toss enough of his Q to kill him, though I think that got him killed soon after.

Damn, you're right! Didn't even think of doing this yet.

I rememer that moment too haha, not sure if he lept there on purpose or not.

Also, while I'm pretty good at using actives, I need to get better at using Blink Dagger. I rarely pick it up, so I don't know the range of the thing, or when its best to use.

Best for heroes that rely a lot on positioning. Heroes like Tidehunter, Enigma, Earthshaker, or Sand King. With Sand King, you want to channel your ult, then shift click blink.

Other heroes that commonly get blink are Tiny (can blink in and do his combo) or Axe (this is one I don't understand yet).

There are probably heroes that I'm missing. Not all AOE heroes need a blink dagger though. Veno really doesn't imo.

I have heard it be suggested for Lion, so I grabbed it the last game I was playing him. Only had enough time to really make use of it once, it was okish. I did let me leap the river and keep up with SK so I could follow up on his stun with more stuns.

For Axe, I think the idea is that you blink and then do your taunt, which is effectively 3 second stun.

Axe (this is one I don't understand yet).
Blink into a bunch of heroes and creeps and hit taunt.

Everyone starts attacking you, pray Counter Helix procs like crazy. You can make it more fun by adding a Blademail to the equation. He's similar to ES in this regard. Both their initiation becomes stronger the more targets there are. The problem with Axe is that he doesn't have any other kind of utility beyond his taunt, he has a tiny mana pool, and his taunt combo is unreliable since it relies on a proc and a creep wave.

I have heard of getting Arcane boots to fix his Mana problems. Makes his pool bigger and gives him an effective +2 MP/Sec

Also, I love some of the smaller touches to the Voice Acting. Skeleton King will actually comment on him being abandoned after reviving. This almost will always happen if he also has a Aegis, and you have killed him twice before.

Here's hoping those dota 1 changes make him more useful. I'm interested to see how much the prophet and AM changes affect the two

Yeah, for Axe I feel like it's a fundamental design issue that's keeping him from being worthwhile but I have faith in Icefrog.

The Prophet one wont do anything.

I highly doubt it will do much of anything, yeah. But if you look at how Icefrog and co handle balancing, it is always in very small numbers. I don't think this will make or break him, but I wouldn't be shocked to see him more manageable mid-game. Partially, at least.

I think he is really fun, so I would hate to see him get nerfed to hell or anything like that. So yeah, I guess we'll see in the coming months.

Does his taunt range increase per level? I can't seem to remember. I like his ult change. It sounds fun.

i dont think the base int buff will help enough. Needed some int gain in order to use battle hunger, or maybe even give counter an auto use active in addition to procs, like Bounty Hunter's crit

The speed boosts will help him chase though so that helps.

Ported mid, was checking top rune, passerby Morphling threw me into the small cliff right above the ramp to the Radiant Shop where I got stuck as a teamfight opened up mid :<. We didn't have a courier lol so I wasn't able to get out till SK brought me a tp. I kinda miss HoN's pathing in that it would let you walk out of cliffs and other weird terrain

So I'm learning more about items here and I have a question. How do you determine which boots go with which hero? Arcane boots are obvious, but the other ones I'm not sure how you could determine those. Power Treads, Phase Boots, and Boots of Travel could be useful for almost any hero (but some are obvious which you should choose), but why would you recommend them for some heroes, but not recommend them for others?

An example of this is Windrunner. A long time ago I was in an IH and someone told me to use my Phase Boots to run away......I had Power Treads, because the game's default recommended items have them on there. While I'm sure Phase Boots might have helped me in that situation, most of the time you have Windrun available, and you can just run around units generally. You won't have to go through them that often. So why Phase Boots over Power Treads for her? I can see both being useful for Windrunner, even Boots of Travel being useful for her.

This pretty much depends on the situation you're in. If you lack of survivability, then Threads is your choice. You can also buy'em if babysittin someone with low mana pool and not afraid of being dead, so you can switch for int boost. Phase are good for the gankin and escape situations, and for those heroes who need some raw damage. Boots of Travel are useless (as far as i can see), except if you not playing Tinker. Sometimes they might help heavy pushers/gankers as well, so they can roam map quickly.

Oh, that reminds me, when you cogged it make it super simple to stun you. I would just place Cold Feet on you, and bam, stunned. Though most of the time they killed you off before it even kicked in.

And so many times the other team let me walk away with 10 HP, in both the game I was AA and the game Lion.
One of the reasons why I picked Clockwerk was for the cogs, they're one of the few innate counters against a Lifestealer in Rage that I know of (magically immune or no, they repulse him and waste out precious seconds of the skill). There are others (Pugna's Decrepify for example, but it doesn't aid escape as much as the cogs do), but I figured I'd stick with something I had used for the purpose before. Didn't work quite as I hoped, given I more often died than not in the effort, but I figure it was a decent enough reason for the pick. It definitely works, I just made a rather poor showing of it in action :P

The Ctrl + Click bug is really annoying. I use the "Unified Unit Orders" option, which is really useful for heroes like Broodmother or Enchantress, but when you have a leaver, it controls their hero too! I was just playing Enchantress and our Sand King left fairly early on. Guess who suddenly showed up in the jungle with me!

You want Phase on heroes that require good positioning, or want the extra speed for chasing (gankers). You get Phase on Windrunner so you can get into the right spot to land a Shackle, also with Windrun, Phase Boots, Mek and Force Staff you'll should rarely die as Windrunner. Also heroes that want the damage and have no need for attack speed (like Ursa).

You want Treads on heroes that want the stats and attack speed.

Boots of Travel are the best boots in the game, not sure why you think they would be useless.

Any pictures of Silencer and Spirit Breaker ?

Kinda:

The Icon for Curse of the Silent is the best picture of Silencer we have at the moment:

Looks like he has some big ass shield too:

I put it wrong. They're not useless, just luxury. This fast travel option not worth the price in the beginning, and even in mid game. Probably, worth buying for those (exclude Tinker), who already have full deck of luxury items (heart, butterfly, etc), in my opinion. Correct me if I wrong.

I've not touched this in ages. I should get back on it and learn some heroes.

Does anyone have an inkling when the game will be released?

I doubt we'll see release sooner than in 108 - 67 - 2 weeks.

Depending on the hero, an early boots of travel can be a powerful opener, similar to Midas, because of the flexibility it gives you in pushing/defending.

Tinker, in particular, rushes BoT before anything else because of its synergy with Rearm.

But you're right, it is a luxury item, and you would only get Boots of Travel if you were doing really well and want to continue gaining momentum.

Lept there to escape, not on purpose but it was affective. Was flying out a TP until I saw the bounty Hunter circled into the river which could have cut off the courier, needed to wait for leap to come off cooldown then. Support came so thought we were going to kill him off, so I attacked, just as they turned the other direction and that gave him vision to kill me.

Why do people get soul ring on Dark Seer? I've only gotten it on heroes with nice regen (Dragon Knight, Brood, or Omni)

Situational. I never get it though. Rush scepter and get whatever stats you're hurting for. If you need mana, get Point booster and Staff of Wizardry first. If you need health/mana, get Point Booster and then Ogre axe. Just depends which stat you need the most during the game.

I think it's because most players go vanguard on him. Soul ring is such a cheap item and it gives dark seer enough mana to spam his spells. The hp regen from soul ring and vanguard is enough stay alive when spamming soul ring.

I tend to get boots of travel on morphling because he's slow as shit and the +95 movespeed is the difference between a kill and being counter ganked.

Come on! Release this fuckin game already. So annyoing jumping through fuckin hoops trying to get a key and then watching people come in going "oh i haven't played this for ages...."

Make an ulti illu of the enemy on the lane, tp boots home to regen and fill bottle, jump to your illu. That's how you play morph, tinker syle!

The best way is illusioning, sending it back, chasing the enemy to the rax, getting a kill, and swapping out.

warning: THIS ONLY WORKS AGAINST BADS

ok, looking at homestory cup then changing to the joindota stream and turning the sound on hearing synderen rapping changes together with tobi...........

J4T probably kicking themselves that they didn't grab Slardar or Weaver. Might make Medallion of Courage a priority item? (and big armor items like an Assault Cuirass later)
