Phew.

Plenty of talking points in that game and I'm sure they'll all be discussed in great detail here.

Main thing I took from it is; If City go on to win the title as we expect them too, they will be worthy Champions if they play like they did today for the remaining half of the season. Committed, disciplined and determined. A really great performance from them, much credit.

United were as they have been all season, good and dangerous when the tide was in our favour. However, this United team buckles under pressure, it lacks character and leadership IMO.

I'm gonna be getting a mod to ban me until the end of this month, so enjoy the rest of January Footy-GAF!

I was cheering United on when it was 3 - 0; I love nothing more than a good spanking. But where were they second half?! Simply awful from Man U. Where's doicare by the way? Preparing his "if only Cleverly was playing" speech I assume.

Granted, United won, but City showed how good they are today. Full credit to them - and Aguero in particular; I thought he was outstanding.

Chelsea v Portsmouth
Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Luiz, Terry, Cole, Ramires, Meireles, Lampard, Mata, Torres, Malouda. Subs: Turnbull, Romeu, Lukaku, Ferreira, McEachran, Hutchinson, Bertrand.

Wow - we're really pushing the boat out here....

P.S - any links to the old Chelsea game (looking at you Kyle)

Robbed? You're joking right?

No, I'm not joking. I saw a stupid red card, evra could have been sent off and Phill Jones made a penalty near the end. That's just my opinion. And no, I don't support Man Utd nor City, they could both lose and I wouldn't give a crap...

We need a fucking new midfielder goddamnit or we need Cleverley back asap.

Welbeck scored a great goal but he wasn't doing much most of the game. Anderson was useless when he came on. Seems like those two only played well when there was the Cleverley link between them in th early part of the season.

And Scholes? WTF. How can anyone even think it's a great idea to bring back a 37 fucking years old central midfielder to a title-contending squad and even start him off in one of our biggest game of the season? Scholes is a United legend but nostalgia is clouding everybody's judgment. Scholes' last couple of seasons have been very mediocre and bringing him back after six months away from the game is going to change things how?

Pretty close thing considering United were playing for the majority with 12 against 10.

Now to listen to a dodgy West Ham side try and do over Wednesday. COYI!

After Aguero's performance today I want to see Hulk come to PL. He has the same energy and drive as Aguero, but I rate Hulk slightly more.

Bit disappointed in City and Mancini at the end. Fair enough they were down to 10 men so it can be tough but where was the big push in the last 5 minutes to try and get the equaliser?

ROONEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYY

Fuck right off.

In other news - Kompany suspended for the match against Liverpool :)

Evra is our fucking captain. Of course we lack leadership. We haven't had any since Keane left.

Don't forget that United also had a clear penalty not called.

Agreed. I'd rather have seen Giggs retire than Scholes come back. Fergie is wearing rose-tinted glasses.

Evra is our fucking captain. Of course we lack leadership. We haven't had any since Keane left.
Especially when we are missing Vidic.

Glad United were able to eek out a win. It's been a tail of 2 halves for a while now. Can't remember the last full good 90 from United.

Also Aguero is just so awesome. Wish he wasn't on City but man, never give up attitude and right after the goal celebrates with the fans urging them to get loud. Class player

Can't believe it. United played so shit today and with City missing 2 of their biggest players in Yaya and Kompany to still put up a fight like they did was amazing.

United may have won but City leave the game looking the better side.

I missed 5 mins of the game, that might have happened at that time. Anyway, even in that situation, City has a lot more to complain in my opinion and the referee had impact on the result.

Bringing on Scholes was a disastrous move in two ways:

1. He's not ready for this type of match. He pretty much gave a way a fucking goal and could've caused more damage.

2. It forced Giggs to the wing who was utterly ineffective and didn't have the legs for the counter. We nullified our left side of midfield.

Your facts are wrong, WoodenLung.

Glad Rio had a good bellow at Evra to get the fuck back out left.

The Scholes experiment is a no-go. Welbeck visibly and justifiably hacked off to be taken off.

We really miss Vidic.

Evra and Ferdinand still have the class they once hand, but they're dopey, they make basic mistakes and allow pressure to come onto us. A couple of seasons back, our defence was so rock solid it absorbed untold amounts of pressure.

Just generally across the pitch however, there are players who become flustered. The forward players, as they tend to be, are composed and assured.

But, the keepers, Rio, Evra, Jones and the whole of the CM is very nervous and folds easily.

Really glad Smalling is back he is a really great player in the making.

Yeah bringing back Scholes was a fail, there was no need to bring him on at that stage bar for Fergie getting nostalgic.

Emphasises even more our need for someone to come in, even if it's a loan or something.

But no matter how scrappy the win was, I'm just happy we got the win. Never would I think this United side could lead City 3-0. 3-2 is really a much more fair result for how United's been playing lately.

This thread is going to be fun for the next week.

I think people so heavily applauding City are already forgetting the first half to some extent. They were all over the place, and certainly not the dogged, hard-working side that's become the "story".

Bet the pig and whistles bouncing.

Odd to say that the momentum is with city after losing at home I just think they'll be more confident now

This is true, but I would never have predicted a loss to Sunderland under any circumstance; maybe they'll get overconfident because of today and slip up again. They seem much more motivated when playing us however.

hulk would do well, he would be more similar to drogba because of his size

Have you actually seen him play or are you just talking because of his nickname and size? According to everyone I have heard about him, he's much more of a winger than forward and that is what he has also looked like the few times I have seen Porto.

Drogba is a good bit bigger than him too btw.

Mancini erred in taking Silva and not Nasri off. Unless Silva was injured?

Great work ethic by City, particularly Milner (unsurprising) and Aguero (slightly more surprising).

Our subs were all awful though. I realise our players were on yellows, but we got it all wrong and so precipitated in at least one of City's goals.

Still should've had a pen though :p

He plays much better on the wings. They had him playing a central position yesterday against us which is why he was much easier to close down.
