It didn't require Nani's legs to snap in two for it to be a challenge with potential to cause serious harm.
You can still appeal for a foul as you carry on playing unless you are Rooney who whilst not waving an imaginary card waves his arms at the ref as if he'd just scored a goal.
I'd expect nothing less from him though as he probably feels inferior to Kompany and usually gets frustrated whenever he plays against him so he'd be happy to see the back of him.
