"There are no negatives for me. The players have been delighted. I am delighted. The fans are delighted. It is a terrific addition to our squad at a very important part of our season.”

The way he says this forms a layer of ice around my heart, United-GAF.

"Terrific addition to our squad" is the thing you say when your arm is around the shoulder of some lithe but mean-spirited 23 yr old Italian prospect.

Ramires!!

And thanks Fady! Scrappy win, but I'll take it. :P

Nice goal by Ramires there huh :D? Man, scrappy wins, I wouldn't mind them either, but every time a club of mine plays scrappy the opposition equalizes :/!!!

Motherfuckers.

I know another link has been provided, but in case that one is taken down, here's an alternative. http://www.7areef.com/Arabic/last-index/show_video.php?id=3241&team=61

Thanks. lol at Portsmouth being busy complaining at the first goal. Luiz clowning around again is worrying to say the least. Don't fucking dribble around in your defense unless you are up with 3 goals or something.

SO DAMN TRUE about Luiz. What was he thinking?? He almost had us concede in the first 30 seconds too! Did you see Ramires' 2nd goal btw? MORE OF THAT PLEASE. I have been dying for him to try chipping the ball ABOVE the keeper Barca-style for once.

Hmm journalists talking about Copenhagens players having no respect for Roland Nilsson, apparently they did whatever they felt like under him. It's still pretty hilarious firing a manager who is only #1 in the league, now our sporting director will take over, hope he won't fuck it up, our most important season ever with direct champions league qualification.

Haha yeah I did. Was going to mention that but had to go quickly. A unusually calm and great finish from him.

Watch it if you're bored. His goal on Mourinho in San Siro is still great :P

fullofshit.com says Bayern is lining up a bid for Höwedes.

15m?! Is he really that good?

Totti after scoring his first goal of the season. "Sorry for the delay"

I watched the first 8 seconds. Nothing can top a snowball tackle like that. :lol

:lol he paused for a second and pointed at the ball. Oh football...

Hill tribes in Papua New Guinea have probably heard scousers carrying on.

That Dembélé would probably be a good pickup for someone.

Wouldn't be surprised, we all know BADstuber. But Bayern seriously wants the hate, don't they. Neuer, Rafinha, Höwedes... They might as well sign Jermain Jones and wear a blue shirt next season lol

I actually would be surprised since it would be a rumour from goal.com turning into reality :P

They announced it on the radio right after you wrote that post. Couldn't have timed it better.

My reaction:

Won't laugh so much when we get Laudrup home in the summer.

DR is actually speculating in that hahahah

The right decision though, incompetent manager, but not sure if CV is the right option to take over... Ugh. Peter Sørensen or Ståle back, maybe Köln would be happy to let him go for free.

That's the problem with it. Bayern were already after him last season but there was no way they'd sign both Neuer and Höwedes in one transfer window. It all depends on Scahalke, though. I don't think they would sell this summer, either. Maybe 2013.

BADstuber was just announced as the best central back in the bundesliga by kicker.de and hummels came in second place. TAKE THAT DORTMUND

He's second just because we sucked in Europe. Without that, number one without a question. And van Buyten on third place makes any list invalid :P

TomCStandard Tom Collomosse

Also Gallas: seems his calf injury is similar to Sandro's, so like Sandro, he shouldn't be out long term. 2-3 wks from injury #thfc

Excellent piece on City by Eurosport's Early Doors. (I dedicate this to you dc89!)

"For so many lines to come out of one match is quite extraordinary. Wayne Rooney scored twice just days after reports claimed he was on his way out of Old Trafford. United won 3-2 to gain revenge for their defeat to the same opponents in last season's semi-final and the 6-1 mauling at Old Trafford back in October. Vincent Kompany's 12th-minute red card was a debatable one that goes right to the very heart of what the definition of 'reckless' is. Roberto Mancini accused Rooney of influencing the referee into sending off the Belgian defender. City are now facing up to four matches without their captain, just after losing Yaya Toure for the African Cup of Nations.

And yet somehow, despite all that, it is City who might just be the ones to come out of the tie as the real winners.

Kompany's early ejection from proceedings led to United running riot against City's patched-up back line, and the visitors went into the break 3-0 up. Yet the Red Devils, going into the game on the back of two straight defeats, almost conspired to capitulate by letting a reorganised City pull two goals back with almost half an hour remaining.
Such a show of character in the face of adversity from City will provide them with a psychological boost as they resume chasing their top priority: the title."

Mancini's a hypocrite.

And Roy Keane is right. Being knocked out of a cup isn't a victory. It's an embarrassing commentary on the way that football journalism tries to justify its bloated modern state with speculative psychological tripe. All the wank about what has supposedly been going through Rooney's head this past week hasn't been worth a fucking farthing, and the same method applied to teams isn't much more worthwhile.

Edit: this sounds slightly hostile. Much love Fady. Good stuff from Chelsea, on the whole.

Mancini is a great manager and personality, but if there's one thing that bothers me about him it's that he has a habit of talking about other clubs' players. He was going on and on about Nasri before City ever signed him. Contrast that with someone like Carlo Ancelotti, who all but refused to talk about Torres until he was a Chelsea player.

The Harry Redknapp approach

Keane only said that because of his recent spat with Fergie. He's deciding to kiss and make up.

---

What's this I'm seeing on Twitter about foreign players who play in Spain are having their income tax raised to something like 55%.

That will make La Liga less attractive!

No he's not, he's saying it to get some love from United fans after Fergie put him on blast. Rest assured Keane and Ferguson won't be making up anytime soon.

Keano probably is acutely sensitive about his managerial career. Ferguson trod on his balls, really.

All the talking up of Scholes's percentages is starting to sound well defensive.

Edit: the list of things Keano isn't sensitive about would be quite short.

Moral victories are for losers.

Keane is right. City are out of the cup and that's that, really.

Obviously time may tell that City go on to win the league, and if they do it may or may not be attributed to an early cup exit, but lets save all this sugary fluffy bollocks. They lost a local derby and they're out of a cup competition. There's no reason why City should be happy with anything other than a serious challenge on all fronts so to dress up cup exists as moral victories is still bullshit.

Mancinis a good manager and City are getting there but they aren't the finished article yet.

That's some surprising news: Theofanis Gekas now plays for Turkish club Samsunspor. Hopefully the team's fans don't shame us all by acting the prick when it comes to welcoming him.

The calibre of players we have been linked with in this transfer window is really concerning and underwhelming. Bent and Kalou? Really? Jackson Martinez would be interesting, but I'm not sure how probable that is, especially with Porto seemingly keen on him.

Hope Comolli/Kenny manages to pull something out of the bag :(

Are Liverpool's owners going to release any real funds? They spunked a lot of money away already and I don't really see Henry as the kind of guy who just keeps throwing money at a problem. I reckon they'll be looking at loans and bargain-basement buys rather than marquee signings.

Gekas is a great player. Samsunspor fans should be honoured to have such a player.

Pretty much a Tumer Metin case I reckon. If he didn't perform from day 1 in Greece they would have hated his guts too.
I hope Gekas performs well. Definitely a player I wouldn't mind having in our league.

Hard to say. All of the signs point to the fact that they aren't afraid of getting the chequebook out, especially looking at what they've done with their other sports team. From what I understand, they've yet to spend any of their own money thus far, and the summer spending was financed by the club itself.

Only time will tell I suppose.

Our targets last year were Carlton Cole and Bobby Zamora before Kenny came back.
