Alan Smith has done really well out of the game, all things considered.
Moral victories are for losers.
Keane is right. City are out of the cup and that's that, really.
Obviously time may tell that City go on to win the league, and if they do it may or may not be attributed to an early cup exit, but lets save all this sugary fluffy bollocks. They lost a local derby and they're out of a cup competition. There's no reason why City should be happy with anything other than a serious challenge on all fronts so to dress up cup exists as moral victories is still bullshit.
Mancinis a good manager and City are getting there but they aren't the finished article yet.
I think City have a lot to be happy about in regards to yesterday.
No Hart, Kolo, Yaya, Barry, Dzeko or Balotelli available to play.
Silva played half a game.
Played with 10 men for 80 minutes and gave United (who let's not forget are the champions of England) one hell of a run for their money. What's not to be happy about?
To be honest, as a City fan yesterday did not feel like a defeat.

I'm going to take some pics of my new boots now! BRB!
Ok dc. It felt like a City win in much the same way that masturbation approximates sex.

How do you feel about the semi final? You without the Toure's and (possibly) Kompany, and us without Suarez and Lucas.
Will be a very interesting fixture on both legs I think.

How many Greek players are there in the league ?
Edit: huh, he's the first ? Wow.

LabouredSubterfuge:It doesn't?
I agree with this part. You'd do well to find a pre-2008 City fan
That's fine. But you still lost. And are out of another cup. And at the expense of your biggest rivals.
I understand its baby steps and winning 2 trophies would still represent progression for Manchester City, especially if one of them is the league. But there's still no guarantees City will win anything, and there's no reason why City shouldn't be expecting to go far and if possible win every competetion they enter.
City fans get incredibly defensive incredibly quickly about their position. Like they're desperate to be in the mix up with the big boys and sit at the top table. Yet at the same time some are seemingly happy to accept derby defeats, to accept getting knocked out of cups and to accept bad results. Moral victories mean nothing. You lost a game you should have won against a weaker team, irrespective of the fact your astronomically expensive side showed an ounce of fight in the 2nd half.
Its a pretty small time attitude. You boys should be fucking chomping at the bit.
Mancini has always said City are no where near them yet. He's always said City can't emulate United in one season, it takes 25 years.
United didn't show any fight and they got dicked and rolled over for it. Not sure what your point is there.
At the end of the day mate its upto you, im not trying to dictate how you should feel about your clubs results. It honestly just surprises me how readily so many are happy to accept the "moral victory". Its like an en-masse defensive mode, and I find that surprising from a group of fans who are normally so ready to tell the world they're ready to step up and start winning shit.
Appreciating the effort to fight in a game is one thing, but I cant think of a single scenario where id be happy or even content with a defeat against Sheffield United. We had a similar game earlier this season where we completed a comeback from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 by scoring twice (and nearly winning it) in the last 5 minutes. It was pure fucking elation but I was still gutted we didn't kill them earlier.

rvy, that is beautiful. Questionable defending at the edge of the area, though. No time to hope for offside.
Trailing by 3, you can't really blame them. But that's the sad reality of the Portuguese league, other teams are incompetent.
And his point is his side DID show fight and could have won the game - United showed none and got smashed at home. I know I'd rather be on the losing end of a narrow 3-2 defeat than lose 6-1 at home to my closest rivals.
Obviously.
But I don't think there's any such thing as a good way to lose a derby game. I don't think there's a good way to go out of competetions teams should be looking to try and win. If City fans are proud of the performance then all power to them, whatever, but personally id be looking for the reaction. There's no excuse not to go out and destroy United to both the league and UEFA cup now. There's no reason why City should settle for second best to United. Alot of City fans have talked the talk all year about that but yet are now seemingly happy to be that 2nd best side in the name of pride of a losing result.
Being proud of a performance is one thing, but like I demonstrated with my own example earlier that shouldn't necessarily get in the way of dissapointment in losing a game against your biggest rival. It doesn't bother me personally but im genuienly surprised there hasn't been more fight in response to the game from City. I thought the Blue half of Manchester was developing more tooth than that. Its surprised me a little is all.
Honestly you can't say anyone other than Messi should win the award, he was phenomenal last year scoring in every stage of the champions league. Top performances against the top teams namely Real Madrid, and assisting more goals than anyone else in Barcelona.
Purple boots are a sure fire way to get nailed to the nearest 5-a-side wooden barriers where I come from.
God speed, dc.

Mancini wants a rematch after a mystery man is seen tampering with the ref.
But in all seriousness there are rumblings on Twitter that Chris Foy is going to be questioned by a independent panel. Let me see if I can find anything.
Oh and I don't understand why anyone would want Hughes. He's in bed with Kia.
WAIT! Is that Cardoza? he can...run?
Benfica top of the league!![]()
