Best games of all time up in here:

King's Quest 6
The 7th Guest

Come at me, bros.

Well, for one, King's Quest VI is definitely one of my favorite games ever.

And I'm always surprised to see people mention The 7th Guest. It's cheesy, but I love that game. Never could get much into The 11th Hour, though.

Best games of all time up in here:

Metal Gear Solid 3
Devil May Cry 3
Bonk's Revenge
Dungeon Explorer
The Dig
King's Quest 6
Super Mario 64
Diablo 2
The 7th Guest
Under a Killing Moon
Final Fantasy 4
Ninja Gaiden (xbox)
Silent Hill 2
Quake
Ikaruga

Come at me, bros.

Not a thing from this generation on that list.

Hmmmmmmmm.

Actual best games of all time:

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Super Metroid
Metroid Prime
Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario 64

Shadow of the Colossus

Yeah, I'm mostly a Nintendo guy.

Dude, you have THREE Zelda games on the list and still missed the best Zelda.

I can't really remember this generation for some reason. Probably the bourbon and coke. Skyrim is great but I'm not sure I'd say it's one of the best.

Maybe RDR.

I did forget Deus Ex though. And Hitman: Blood Money.

Bioshock maybe?

I'm trying to think of what would fit on your list from this Gen...

Games from this gen that got on my "all times forever" list:
Portal series
Xenoblade

(this list is pretty small regardless of generation)

My favs from this gen (aside from the ones listed above):

Nier
Alice
KH: Birth by Sleep
TWEWY
Layton series
Radiant Historia
Gray Matter
Machinarium
Crystal Bearers
I'm like, the game's one fan.

Bastion is definitely one of the best games this gen. Haven't played Saint's Row III yet but I'd probably love it. It just focuses on fun over everything else.

Bioshock was pretty good, but it loses because I literally played everything I could in it and in a very short time.

Duh, I did forget Half Life 2 and Portal 2.

Okay, so

Best games of all time

Mega Man X
Mario 64
Persona 4
Bayonetta
Portal 2
Final Fantasy VI
Metroid Prime
Ninja Gaiden II (NES)
Sin & Punishment 2
Dragon Quest V
Mario Galaxy
Ace Attorney 3
Metal Gear Solid 3
Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii: Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2
Mega Man Zero 2
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Full Throttle
Last Express

I have to stop now or I will keep listing games forever

I loved Bastion, but I'm pretty bad at it so I'm having trouble finishing it. I put it on my list this year, but mostly for the visual style/music/voice acting.

This is a very good list, I don't see how you could have Full Throttle without Grim Fandango though.

partial list of Totally Awesome games this gen:

Uncharted 1,2,3
Bioshock
Mass Effect
Deadspace
Heavy Rain
Portal 1&2

You're totally correct except for my opinion differs from yours!

Mass Effect, Uncharted, and Heavy Rain do not belong on that list.

I'm usually pretty good at analyzing and criticizing games, but often I'm willing to ignore a lot for the overall experience.

But there are weird times where something in me will just snap and I'll ignore a lot of good because one thing really bothered me.

Uncharted 3 is a good example of this, as is Final Fantasy XII.

To each their own, then.

I view games on personal impact not on how well it played or how tight the graphics were on level 3.

I'm also forgetting a bunch of smaller games on PSN/Arcade.
And Tf2 because hats.

I totally hear you, and will not begrudge your right to put Uncharted on a list of best games. It's a damn fine game, just not the kind of game I really dig.

The number of people in this thread unable to play Grim Fandango hurts me deeply! something must be done

You keep saying this ;.;

Go write a letter to LucasArts or something.

Anyway, I thought I'd put up my all times forever list (it's a short list.)

King's Quest VI
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers
Riven
The Longest Journey
Portal
Portal 2
Legend of Mana
Suikoden II
Persona 4
Ico
Xenoblade
Trilby's Notes

Yeah I know, there are a lot of great games that are not on this list. And it's not that I don't think they are great or don't love them, but these games had a certain "spark" for me that made me put them on the list.

Yeah, the inexplicable "spark" of a game is hard to quantify, but I definitely know what you mean.

Nier is a game I think had that spark. Portal 2, as well.

Nier was a game that was VERY close to having that for me as well. It's definitely one of those "sitting at the edge of the list" games. It felt amazing while playing it. I can't really explain why it is not quite there, though :/

I'm gonna have to play this Nier business.

Anybody want to play Portal 2 coop on PC?

Lissar, have you ever tried 999? I'm not sure if it's your type of game, but I was kind of blown away by how much I liked it.

Of course I love that one as well. Though Ico I felt touched me more. The atmosphere of the game was so much more there for me.

I've played it, and I keep meaning to get back to it. There is a slight awkwardness to the writing that puts me off though. But the reason I haven't finished it is just that I have sooooo many games.

Yeah, but he made, like, 5, and I'm too lazy to check. I like the space one.

It's the third one I believe. The one in space is the second one.

I haven't said anything, but I was kind of paying attention to the east/west breakdown on people's lists.

I think it's interesting too. Especially concerned with games with this gen, actually.

Then you're gonna love this one:

Flashback
Populous
No One Lives Forever 2
Fallout 2
Fallout: New Vegas
Planescape: Torment
Quake
Torchlight
GTA: San Andreas
Worms World Party
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
The Colonel's Bequest
Deus Ex
System Shock 2
Hitman: Blood Money
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood
Portal
Alpha Protocol
The Witcher
Blood
Operation: Stealth

There's probably a bunch of things missing, but basically I've only ever been an Amiga then PC gamer so my list reflects that.
