Just traded in $105 in games toward a Vita First. I brought along my 360 as well, but forgot to bring the controller with me! I finally checked out Escape Plan for the first time and it looks really cool, and it's easy to see why it's on so many peoples' lists. This is a digital release, yes? Any information on how much it'll cost? Google told me nothing. Also, I had no idea Little Deviants is a $39.99 game. Trading that junk in day 1 toward Gravity Rush/Daze/whatever... I'd trade it in toward Grand Knights History PSP, but unfortunately the UMD would be completely worthless to me. Really hoping GKH pops up on PSN the day it's available in stores!

I bet we'll be lucky to get $20 for Little Deviants on day 1.

I want to pull the trigger and place my pre-order for Vita and the overpriced memory, but something keeps telling me not to..what to do, what to do?

I really want the PS Vita, but the only thing I can see as a deal breaker would be the browser. Also, no support for HTML5 or Flash? You gotta kidding me, Sony? Could I even watch YouTube or surf Facebook with the Vita?

isn't there a Youtube app? and wouldn't be shocked if a Facebook app gets made for it too

HTML4 ACID3 test score is 99/100 (JavaScript, CSS, DOM, SVG, SMIL, Unicode).
HTML5 support (canvas, media tags, local storage, etc.) is limited but you should be able to browse regular web sites without much issues.

Flash support depends on Adobe's response since they terminated Flash for mobile devices. Sony is trying to work out something with them.

YouTube has not been announced, but FaceBook app is available (Facebook, Foursquare, Twitter, Skype, NetFlix. I read that Flickr was announced in Japan too)

Facebook has to be a given as it is pretty the most popular site on the Internet and any web surfing device that couldn't support that might as well not have browsing abilities, period! But lack of YouTube support is almost equally as silly.

I wouldn't worry too much about YouTube support. Like you said, it's unthinkable to not support it if they already have other social apps.

anyone know if sony will host a Vita-launch press event/conference end of January or early Feb to release all the necessary info about Vita prices and games? I think its time for sony to step up the marketing on this thing

3 words of advice, sony:

Super.Bowl.Ad.

DO IT

Sony's marketing department needs less exposure, not more.

Sony had that awful Xperia Play ad during the Super Bowl last year. I think Vita means more than the Xperia Play.

Whoever was responsible for the Xperia S and Xperia Ion designs needs to be in charge of all of Sony's other product designs.

Grrr.

BestBuy.ca just updated some of my Vita game preorders to February 22nd and not February 15th. Hot Shots, Wipeout and Modnation.

How are you surprised about this? Be thankful if we're able to pickup Uncharted with the Vita on the 15th instead of having to go back a week later.

Ninja Gaiden is such an odd release.
Little hype (since it is a port of sigma 1), little news from Tecmo, something no one really was asking for.
Almost like a stealth release.

If it runs well, I may pick it up though.

I've decided to pick up Modnation first and Wipeout sometime later. Never played the PS3 version though i really enjoyed the demo.

Oh, never even thought about this... I hope it's physical.
I would think the temptation to make it a digital download would be pretty high. Besides just getting new Vita owners on PSN to set up an account
update the firmware
and download a game right away, they introduce them to store and demonstrate (hopefully) how easy it is to buy games online... and they save big on the physical manufacture of the game cart, box and insert...

I've only played F-ZERO on the SNES. I'm guessing later iterations were a lot more similar?

Kind of, it's a pretty vague similarity since both are fast futuristic arcade racers that are both fairly difficult. F-Zero is faster in the standard races (Wipeout Zone mode on the higher zones passes it though) and has tighter steering, and the tracks in the 3D games (basically X and GX) are "wilder" than those in Wipeout.

As long as Uncharted isn't digital.

Yeah, and take up a quarter of the card's available space. :(

EDIT: I'm talking about the game in the First Edition bundle.

I'm torn between Shinobido and NG: Sigma +. ON the one hand, I know I'll enjoy Sigma, on the other I already have it on PS3, even though it's been years since I've played it and I will do so again. Shinobido, I'm not absolutely sure of the quality even though I liked Tenchu in the past.

First world problems.

Does ModNations PS3 have an active online community?

I got the PSP edition free from the PSN security debacle and there was basically no one playing online, so i'm sceptical whether the Vita version will last the distance online...

Decided on Shinobido, although I'm positive I'll go ahead and get Sigma when I see it in a store.

Vita - Wifi
16gb card
Wipeout
Shinobido

Pretty good launch. :)
