What a boring game. I know that Alabama proved that they are the best team in the country, but I personally would have preferred seeing LSU vs Ok St or Oregan or Stanford or anything but this rematch of the most boring game all season.

I just noticed that Russell Wilson passed RGIII to set the single-season passing efficiency record. Somehow out of the 66 pts Baylor scored in their bowl game, they only had one TD pass.

I seriously cannot remember ANYTHING of this game. I keep seeing it listed, and I can never remember that FSU played in a BCS Championship. I assume OU won, and it created the Big Game Bob moniker?

Are you being sarcastic? I mean, I know that it was over a decade ago, but you can't remember that FSU played in 3 straight MNC games? Those were my first 3 years at FSU, so I remember those games vividly.

But yes, I say it was the most boring MNC game of the BCS era. Not because FSU lost, but because neither team moved the ball. 14-2 final score, and FSU had theh #1 Offense that season. Just a boring MNC game all around.

And thank you, LSU, for taking the mantle of lowest-scoring team in an MNC game :)
 
So the game last night wasn't exciting at all and a playoff system would be awesome but I have no problem admitting that I think Alabama is the best team in the country. I'm not saying OSU couldn't beat them but that defense is seriously impressive. Say what you will about Jefferson and how awful LSU's offense is (and they made a lot of legitimately stupid, unforced mistakes) but I still think it takes a special kind of defense to make a 13-0 SEC team look that freakin' pathetic.

We can argue about the Eye Test and who would beat who all day until we're blue in the face, but it's utterly meaningless until OSU plays LSU or Bama.

Looking forward to this weekend of NFL games, which will be just as awesome as an 8-team CFB playoff first weekend would be.

Maybe it is the decade of time, and it's not some "slight" against FSU. I really mean, I don't remember the matchup between the 2. I remember FSU being good up till the turn of the century. But yeah, I don't remember anything of it. 14-2? Thought I'd be able to remember a funny score like that, but I don't.

Maybe the game happened at the same time as the Mike Dubose Explosivo Debacle. If so, I tuned everything out.

The only thing I remember from that OU/FSU game is that it would've been a shutout if OU didn't let have FSU have the 2 points in garbage time. But like Lonestar, I seriously can't remember any other part of that game.

Wish Texas hadn't self imploded after that night in Pasadena. The destruction of the Big 12 by the hands of Texas would have made more sense, if it was from a Texas that was firing on all cylinders, not the current product they've shat out there.

Not saying that crushing LSU's dream season under a redemptive boot-heel wasn't more fun than 2009, but I recognize that one game is a national championship, and the other was a fortunate result from The System.

Was much more interested in Revenge and Redemption, and the ability to laugh in the face of Cunty LSU fans, than the MNC.

Maybe one of these days, the rest of you guys will give in and let us have a playoff!

I think this game was an SEC conspiracy. Sabin and Miles agreed beforehand to suck so much that we demand a playoff. The touchdown was an accident.
 
Since there's no offseason thread, I'll just go ahead and post it. Obviously nothing's confirmed yet, but it's worth relaying along in case people missed it.

Years from now, this BCS National Championship Game won’t be remembered so much for Alabama’s utter domination of LSU as it will the beginning of radical change in college football. A national playoff is coming, everyone.

It’s only a matter of what it looks like.

“It gets done,” a high-ranking BCS official told Sporting News Monday evening.

Here’s how: over the next six months, the leaders of the sport will meet at least four times to iron out a plan that protects the importance of the regular season—the one aspect BCS leaders believe separates the game from every other—while embracing a new frontier for the poll-driven sport.

It begins Tuesday here in New Orleans with a meeting of conference commissioners, and includes meetings in Dallas in February and Miami in April. Another meeting in June is also likely, especially considering the magnitude of the potential change.

When asked what the playoff would look like, a high-ranking BCS source said there are “at least 60” different options on the table, and that includes everything from a four-team playoff to one game after all the bowls.

Fortunately, the Tide’s 21-0 rout that surely pushed the playoff talk over the edge was more clean and simple. You say ugly, Alabama says beautiful.

Also, Jordan Jenkins surprised a lot of people and picked UGA last night right before the game. Not sure if that was mentioned, but he was the #1 undecided recruit in Georgia, so it's a good thing for Grantham to attract him to the program even with Georgia being a somewhat latecomer to the party. Also, Keith Marshall, John Theus, and QB Faton Bauta started classes yesterday and were part of their first team meeting. Faton Bauta is an interesting 3 star QB recruit out of FL. He's a dual threat guy, 6'3", 225 pounds and runs a 4.54 40. The comparisons he gets are to Tebow. Who knows if he'll play at Georgia, they would have to change a lot of things if they want to use that dual threat potential.. Or if he could even beat out the supposedly better QB's ahead of him once Murray's gone.

I thought he was for sure going to Bama. I think everyone was pleasantly surprised. He'll probably end up being an outside linebacker in the 3-4. Doesn't hurt that Grantham helped Justin Houston get to the pros last year, or that he's done a lot to help Jarvis Jones.

BUt yeah, dude definitely wanted that spotlight.
 
Colorado has no CB, or CB recruits.

I watched the UK-LSU game in its entirety with one goal: to track how many plays the Wildcats ran on offense where they would have been better off spiking the ball - or, as Fearless Leader termed it, Kentucky's Spike Factor. Please note that I said better off, not equal to, so when Morgan Newton went nearly the entire first half throwing only incomplete passes, a spike wouldn't have necessarily been better. (Less embarrassing, maybe.)

In that LSU-Kentucky game, UK's Spike Factor was a dreadful nine percent. LSU's against Alabama last night? Twenty-three percent. That Alabama racked up 10 tackles for loss wasn't, in and of itself, amazingly impressive. Plenty of teams reach double digits in that regard. Hell, Michigan State reached 17 against Georgia. But the Spartans did so in 71 plays and still allowed 339 yards. All season, I compared Alabama's defense to the Warlord, just calmly bear-hugging you into unconsciousness without even worrying too much about making huge plays or tackles for loss. Last night, they not only treated LSU like Koko B. Ware, but they made some big plays as well, just for fun.

2000: 11
2001: 23
2002: 7 (the only OT game)
2003: 7

There have only been 5 BCS title games decided by a TD or less. Also that 2000 game was a 13-2 final, real thriller there!

I do wonder that if Bama had been the same team, only from a different conference, if the meme's for this game would be completely different.

If this Bama from a different conference had already played LSU in a low-scoring, fieldgoal-fest, I imagine it would be largely the same. Well, maybe the SECSECSECSECSEC spamming would have been reduced some.

My objection wasn't that they're from the same conference, it's that they already fucking played.

LSU shouldn't have had to play Bama again unless Bama truly earned their way back for a rematch (i.e. through a playoff bracket).
 
Good to see I didn't miss much of anything, though if I was 'bama's kicker I'd be pissed I didn't win the MVP.

Isn't the BCS having some kind of meeting this month to talk about the BCS's future?

Some of those games were decent for most of the game though. Last night's game was pretty dreadful.
 
After thinking about it i changed my mind from a 8-team playoff to a 5 team system.

Here were the BCS top-5 at end of the regular season:

1 LSU 1.0000
2 Alabama .9419
3 Oklahoma State .9333
4 Stanford .8476
5 Oregon .7901

The #1 team should get the auto bid for the championship game and the other 4 teams battle it out in the playoffs. Outside of those five i don't think any other team even deserved a shot.

Not saying I disagree, but what would be the main advantage over a 4 team playoff where everyone plays? Just that the top 5 playing sounds better than top 4? Or because the #1 team gets the bye and has a little less pressure?

I was actually going to give Bama a little bit of credit in that they made no momentum changing mistakes. They avoided Claiborne all night. No turnovers. They obviously destroyed everything that LSU tried to do.

On the other hand, LSU sucked. Jefferson was pathetic. Wonder if he pulled some Garcia-esque activities the previous night.
