Don't listen to me; after all, I listen to opera. Italian, French, and German mainly, with the occasional Russian or English one thrown in there for good measure.

Even then, I prefer lieder.

It's weird, I actually finally got around to watching Dollhouse recently and he really hasn't evolved much as an auteur. There was that story a while back about how amazing it was that he was shooting a movie on an iPhone, and my first reaction was "well he's never really cared much about cinematography so that makes sense." Then I watched Dollhouse and lo and behold it looks like a soap-opera.

It's all about the actors and the not-quite-realistic-but-still-entertaining dialogue.

I thought the cinematography in Firefly was one of the best things about it.

Where Whedon succeeds is when he decides not to talk down to his audience. Firefly felt like he knew the audience could be respected enough to not need to know everything.

(Of course, for things like Shepard Book, it became apparent later that Whedon himself had no idea and the actual answer was the stupidest fucking thing.)

This is also why Avengers will probably be bad.

I enjoy opera too. But even though they are both essentially plays with singing in them I think they have to be looked at as two completely different things.

I can watch it a million times and never get sick of it. The ending gets me every time <3 ;_;

This made me think of something. What is everyone's one movie that they can watch over and over again without tiring of it? Mine is Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, as mentioned before.

You know, having been so harsh I have to concede that Firefly and Serenity both have quite competent cinematography. Harshness respectfully retracted in favour of a more considered comment.

Man I wish it was winter here. Its gotta be upwards of 40 (104F?) degrees in my room, to say nothing of the humidity.

Traitor! I'm sitting here in shorts with no shirt on, and I just got out of the shower with wet hair so I'm letting it drip-cool me.

So true. I saw it on a trip to NY many years ago and had to wipe away the tears at the end. I think it had a lot to do with finally seeing it as well after years of just listening to the soundtrack. I had it built it up to monumental levels and it totally delivered.

I overall liked Dr. Horrible. Give NPH and Nathan Fillion more vehicles to just chew the fuck out of some scenery.

Felicia Day was the weak spot of that, though. Shoulda been Jewel Staite.
I have a rather unhealthy crush on Felicia Day. It's not purely physical but more for the fact that I dig everything she is into.

Something about her rubs me the wrong way.

It feels like she's trying too hard. And, at very least, she too willingly goes along with those that want to use the fact that she's nerdish and female as their big hook (like Bioware or SpikeTV).

Full Metal Jacket. I can watch it in regular succession, recite every word and still enjoy myself doing it

She's gotta eat. Lawd knows those web shows don't pay them bills

This bothers me immensely. Started with that music video. I think I immediately lost interest in The Guild when I saw that.

I'd agree with the second part, but she's obviously genuine about her love of games, and she is cute as a button. After New Vegas and the Jace Hall lightsaber fight I rather like her, though I have a big man-crush on Jace too.

I've seen it 2 times so far on Broadway and I might see it a 3rd time hehe. I think the movie was great too (took me a while to warm up to the voices though). I can't wait for the Love Never Dies DVD to come out, I don't care if its bad I still want to see it DX!

Best thing Joss Whedon ever did:

I'll second The Big Lebowski, god only knows how many times I've seen that movie. I could recite it from memory.

Puddles we should have a Lebowski-off

Anything by the Coen brothers fits the bill, but outside of that I would say The Blues Brothers.

:lol wait, we're actually talking about movies now?

:lol marrec's son is a brony?

Best musical is Les Misérables or wait, I saw the Monty Python one at the theater, that was good.

Over and over = anything by Wes Anderson.

Alucrid made me think of another. Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I still laugh hysterically at that movie even though I know all of the jokes

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly for sure. I have seen that movie dozens of times. That may or may not be why I have this user name.

I was going to say either Miller's Crossing or The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou <3

Also Dead Man.

There is something to be said about lazing around with very little on, on a hot summers day with cicadas chirping and a cool drink.

A true summer institution. Is that a boater you're wearing in your avatar?

I totally agree. Bad or not, it's must watch material for me. I'm voracious for more of that story and I'll take whatever I can get!
