It's not far enough into the season to say where tonight's result will leave us, but psychologically it can put us right into the title race, or it can leave us in limbo.

Just heard Nuno Gomes didn't put Messi in his too 3 for Ballon Dor. He believes the best player in the world is...
Nani
Say whaaaaat?

I was thinking about the Ballon Dor votation today. Like all the Latin America NT sure voted for Messi, Xavi, CRonaldo, etc because all they get is Spanish La Liga. You have to be kind of a 'hardcore' fan to follow Serie A and Bundesliga over here.

I think only specialized media should vote. NT Captains I'm pretty sure just vote based on "omfg Barcelona the best club in the world". (yes, it's true but you get the idea). I doubt professional players follow all the top leagues.

That list is great. Pakistan's captain voted for Thomas Müller. Tonga's voted for Dani Alves.
Burundi's coach voted for Benezema.

Still, Pretty much.

1ST - Ronaldo

2ND - MY BEST MATE Nani ( I luv him - he's so god to me )

3RD - Neymar
Yeah it's pretty crazy not to have Messi in there, or even having Nani ahead of Xavi...but I think voting Nani is less crazy than Capello and Terry voting Rooney.

Nani has been a better player for United over the last 12/18 months than Rooney...and I'd wager he's been a better player for Portugal than Rooney has been for England.

The voting for this is obviously flawed, there are plenty of ridiculous votes in there, you'll find Casillas couldn't find it in himself to vote for Xavi or Messi either and some of the votes are just bizzare. Fair enough, everyone has their vote they use it as they wish but the Balon D'or was a much better award when it was the journalists voting. I think if that had been the case last year Sneijder would have won it. Would have deserved it.

Edit - Sorry Casillas did vote Messi in 3rd, my mistake.

Giovanni Trapattoni
-Xavi
-Rooney
-Iniesta

Andrey Arshavin
-Messi
-Cristiano Ronaldo
-Fàbregas (lol)

Mark Van Bommel
-Sneijder
-Messi
-Cristiano Ronaldo

Goran Pandev
-Eto'o
-Sneijder
-Abidal

He probably chose what he thinks are world's best two players, and the one who most impressed him in the World Cup.
The World Cup would have come into last years poll though. Muller did have a fantastic year for Bayern last year though I think, into the 20's for goals and assists.

Any top 3 list missing:

Ronaldo, Messi and Xavi. Is just plain crazy.

You can argue a top 2 between Xavi and Messi in my book and still come off slightly crazy.

Messi is pretty much moving into Legend status. A whole other list. With the likes of Pele, Maradona, Cruyff and Titus Bramble.

You can see that pretty much every German coach that works for some national team threw in a Schweinsteiger or Müller (except Klinsmann. He voted Forlan. Lolsmann). That voting system is a joke but it doesn't matter, Messi will win anyway.

#mcfc reckon about 36,000 tickets sold for tonight

Considering people say they tend to sell out Premier League games (i.e. Saturday & Sunday) you can tell what type of fans City are attracting.

Manchester is blue :lol :lol :lol

It's a semi-final for God's sake.

Edit - In all seriousness, I assume it's because 1) They're a small club 2) Second home cup game in a few days just after Christmas.
