Interesting use of the bottle. :p

Which brings me to this question: Who is your favourite guitarist?

For me it is Jimi Hendrix. I don't think many guitarists can do what he did. There have been technically superior guitarists, but you also have to take into consideration the way guitar playing techniques have evolved. Certain techniques didn't really exist in the 60s. Also, it's not really about how proficient a guitarist Jimi was, it's just that he had a style and created sounds that were entirely unique to him. He had a way of creating these incredibly peculiar notes and haunting sounds. His note selection was just pure genius sometimes. There are technically better guitarists than him, but there aren't any that can truly replicate what he did.

One of my favourite Jimi songs.

Machine Gun. This version is pretty damn good:

The Copenhagen one he did is the best for me, but the audio quality is poor. No good quality version exists.

Its pretty hard to fuck up Dave.

BUT... my last name gets butchered and its pronounced exactly as its spelled. There's no fancy silent letters or anything mystical about it.

I have a very common name lol. But I like it :) I can see why it's popular hurhur
I don't think I'm giving my kids common names. I will never name my son Mohammed.

BLASPHEMER!

My teachers in first grade use to write my name (Essam) as Assam. :|
Haha, mine is worse. Americans can easily pronounce my name as "NEW-WAR" as it's literally spelt that way, minus the double W's..

Some in elementary pronounced it 'newer' and began making rhymes with 'manure' (i.e. shit) which was annoying for a while.

PS. I have an uncle by your name, and he spells is 'Issam'. :p

Oh my last name is definitely uncommon, especially the spelling. If you search up my last name on google you'll find everyone in my family hahahah

My last name is extremely common in its native country, Hungary... but rather uncommon here in the US.

Horvath

Its pronounced exactly as one would read it... Whore Bath, but with a V instead of a B... and yes, I was called that plenty of times as a child... along with Ho Bag, Horse Ass, etc etc.... needless to say, my fighting skills matured greatly in school.

My real name says that my parents are Indian and chose it based on meaning (like most asian parents)

Yea, pretty typical. My first name is christian (chosen by date of birth & modern spelling of the saint's name) and my middle name is hindu (chosen by meaning).

I'm the same, until facebook existed and apparently someone has my exact same first and last name. THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE. Oh well, my last name will change later this year anyway.

At least you all have uncommon names. Sarah is one of the most common girl's names ever and people still mispronounce/misspell it. Same happens to my last name.

"Smith" is in my stepdad's name. You know how big of a pain in the ass it was helping him set up an email account and XBL name?

As long as you don't let it linger it is ok.

I would just like to point out that I was in full joke-character mode during the time that post was made. My MO at the time was to exaggerate the absurd elements of whatever story I was telling. The actual "lingering" in that incident was completely accidental and unintentional, and had I known that it would become a mini-meme or that I would ever be posting my actual picture on this forum, I wouldn't have told the story for laughs the way I did.

Are you serious or are you just trolling? :p Christian Hindu, haha. All you need is your last name to be Muslim and you're set.

At least your first name isn't Mohammad. Everyone has their own funky way of spelling it and a good chunk of people love informing me that it's one of the most common names in the world.

I think the only mispronunciation I've ever got with my name is 'Kieron'. The 'ron' on the end instead of the 'ran'. Kieron is actually a variant of my name.

It can also be a girl's name I think, but very rarely does anyone name a girl that. Keira, as in, Keira Knightley is a female variant of the name. Also has the same meaning.

Dead serious. Sheila is a modern spelling of St. Cecilia (patron saint of music, often depicted with harp apparently) whose feast date is by birthdate, mother is Christian. Rani means queen, father is Hindu.

Carlos Santana... Tom Morello and Eric Clapton.

I like all those guitarists actually. Eric Clapton is a very accomplished blues player. He isn't a flashy player, but he very rarely plays a wrong note.

My favourite Clapton solo is this one:

The difference with Jimi for me is, he paints a psychedelic picture in my mind. His music is a fucking trip in itself. lol

You know there used to be a lot of great footage on youtube of Jimi, but a lot of has been removed. I now have to search through tons of Jimi Hendrix wannabes for anything decent. Fucking music industry I bet. :(

Damn, no Elvis Costello fans here apparently. This seems like a good time to pick a brand new name, so you guys can call me Ruddiger. Though I'd have called myself Kingsley if I'd had any say in the matter.

Huge Clapton fan, here. Definitely my favorite guitarist. Other favorites include Jimmy Page, BB King, Billy Gibbons, Angus Young, and really just too many to list.
Damnit Sarah. I demand an example of the "bad taste" you claim to have lest I have no choice but to refuse to believe you are an actual person.

Gonna listen to some ZZ Top solos now...
Kieran-GAF unite man. (unfortunately it's crazy common in Ireland)
Kieran is an awesome name. I'll be keeping it in mind when it comes time to pick one out.

It's my birthday :P
Hey happy birthday! Nice job surviving and all.
